Hey CR, so two lovely days off. I figure that you have laundry and some shopping to do. That is always the agenda for my days off. But I also hope there is something fun planned as well. :D

Enjoy!!

Yep, all those things and getting a haircut, but then I come here, and that's fun. Made a payment on a hospital bill, too. *sigh* Are there any openings in Canada?

Depends on what you want to do . . . :D Our economy is recovering slowly but quite nicely. Unfortunately, with the recession being on both sides of the border, I have a feeling that our employers will give preference to Canadian Citizens first, just as the US would with their own folks. But if I had my own company, I'd hire you in a heartbeat, darlin' . ;)

*sigh* Again a far-too-busy week ahead . . . Is it Friday yet? :P

HHEEELLLLLLOOOOOOOOOO the house.

Brrrrrr cold and frosty here this morning, BUT the sun is already shining and we are going to have a lovely day in the PNW. Won't last, rain moving in tonight, so I will enjoy it while it shines.

Hope all are well today.

Tax day in Canada is also April 15th?? Interesting.

Rowanberry.. are you still dancing a lot??

How's the gardening going Vana?

I have to get my tush out & get fertilizer on the yard & reseed some areas that died off. The next two days I may have jury duty.. I have to call in the night before to see if the trials are still being held because I guess they often 'settle' the night before.

rwhen.. :hihi: frosty in your neck o the woods?? Like frosty frost or chilly? :P Tomorrow we will be nice & warm, but the rest of the week looks like it will be much cooler. Still not bad for April around here--55-60F (13-15C).

Actually, as far as I know, Tax Day in Canada is April 30th.

I can't believe how late i am this year. Last year, I had both my mom's and my return filed before March 15th. Of course, maiming and crippling myself on the day I was supposed to be doing our returns (Mar 6) might have had something to do with it . . . :P

Alas, when it comes to gardening, the mind is raring to go but the body is not co-operating. It's near impossible to do heavy work like digging and cultivating with one maimed wing . . . :(

I have a feeling that like my taxes, my gardening is going to be a tad late this year . . .

Oh gosh Scribbles.. yeah.. I would imagine that gardening of any sort would be out of the question.. and probably no heavy gardening for you for quite some time. How's it feeling in the new cast?

I am having difficulty getting motivated this Spring. I don't know why. As for starting a garden of any sort.. I dunno.. if we plan to be gone 3 or 4 weeks it seems like it hardly pays to plant before we go, which would be on the early side.. unless we could get someone to come & water. As it is .. we will have to find someone to watch the dog and mow our large yard. :P

Scribbles wrote:Rose, gotcha. The best route would probably to head south on BC3, you can drop into the States between Grand Forks and Christina Lake or continue West on #3, which is one of the most beautiful in BC, and dip south later. There's just so much spectacular mountain scenery to be seen in BC and Alberta...

Just how slow going would that be?? Taking #3? The other option seems to be going back the way we came to Seattle and then head East on US 90, which also meanders quite a bit. If we took #3 we could drop down on 93 & go through Glacier National Park.. Still.. this is on the way home.. after several long weeks of driving.. It might be best to plan both ways & see how much time we have and how travel weary we are. It is good to know though how the roads are.. if they are slow &/or treacherous or if it is a well paved highway that travels well. We were traveling through Utah once, expecting to get somewhere in a few hours and found the road to be narrow, 35mph, and very slow going. It took us all day.

Rose, the new cast is far, far looser and much more comfortalbe . . . except the thumb part is too short and i can now bend my thumb too much and when i do, it starts to hurt after a while. :D So I fixed up a little 'brace' for it for during the day and it's helped a lot.

I'll show hubby your rough itinerary and where you're starting from and ending . . . he'll know both the most scenic and the most direct ways to go. He got home early this week, so I'll try and jump on him with a map book in the next day or so. ;) :)

And now, I must stumble off to a shower and bed. I finally, FINALLY finished and Netfiled my mom's tax return for her and i'm one tired (but happy) camper . . .

'night all!

Rose, until the end of this month, I still go on three classes weekly. After that, there will be only two until mid-May. I'm thinking of taking a short elementary course in Oriental dance in the early summer, and possibly a weekly Bollywood class through the summer. We'll see.

Rowanberry, that is so interesting. Do you learn much about the culture as well as the dance? Oriental dance... like... from what country?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, TOOKS!
:drink:

Rose, some of the dance teachers tell about the cultures as well. Especially, my Bharata Natyam teacher has told quite a lot about the history of the dance and the mythology behind it.

The Oriental dance teacher whose class I'm considering is specialised in Egyptian dances, but I don't know yet if she's going to teach any particular style on that class, or just the general basics.

Tooksey, I hope all is wonderful on your special day. :rose:
*dances on the tabletop with rwhen* My.. I haven't done that in a long while. :P

rwhennie m'dear lady.. how are you feeling this day? I know you had a few days that were not so good. :(
Before you know it your birthday will be upon you.. but, if I recall, your special birthday plans were canceled? :( :( I suppose we won't be seeing you in the City by the Bay. I'd hoped that maybe you'd be pointing out some of the special places to go/see/do/eat. I hear there is a great place in Vancouver, WA. ;)

Well, it's half way through the month and so far I have not had to show up for any jury duty dates. I'm not complaining (exactly) but we had hoped to go visit my mother this month and we couldn't 'cause I was on jury duty... :(

Vana.. how's that garden growing?

Its going very well. We planted a dogwood tree last weekend also a Jasmine next to the front porch. It smells so sweet!!! I will be getting some close ups of the new plants and my garden. I did get some pictures last weekend of the garden so as soon as I can get Ryan to download them I will post them on Facebook so everyone can see them. :D

I think I want to plant another jasmine in the back yard near the back door. Also we bought a ceramic base that will be a bird bath on the stump out back. I want to put a Faery house in the stump too. It should look very cool when I am done with it. ;)

Sounds lovely Vana.. you'll have to put pictures up sometime.

Rowanberry.. I must have missed your post. I have never thought of Egyptian dance as 'Oriental'. I took Middle Eastern Belidi for 8 years.. we learned dances mostly from the Middle East/Egypt, North Africa/ Bedouin/ and a few from around the Mediterranean.. up to Greece. Have fun!

Well, I didn't get a chance to "give 'em hell" at work. :cry2: My boss just thrust the choice of essentially moving immediately or else taking the 30 days' notice option. No negotiation at all. I was fully prepared to compromise, but since he basically forced me to take the 30 days' notice (which had been mentioned twice earlier that we would all get anyway - it is our contractual right). So that's what's happening, and it makes things much easier for me at least.

Now I'm finishing up the things that need to get done for my tasks and reports and then it'll be on to the revising stage of events. Only 4 weeks now to my exams and I really can't wait. Then they'll be over and I can get on with my life! :D

:hihi: to all. I see we're talking about gardening and birthdays. :)

No birthdays on the horizon for me, but happy birthday to everyone who does have one. :)

As for gardening, the weather here has been lovely, lots and lots of sun. But really, I'm hoping for a bit of rain overnight, since I don't like the prospect of watering the front garden in the hope that all the bulbs and seeds that were planted will grow. I had to potter back and forth with a watering can, and last time I think it was about 8 trips. Still, I guess it's good exercise. :D

Yes, it really was Tooksey's birthday today (Friday, April 16)

Scribbles.. I hope you enjoy your trip anyway.. Down east?? To the States? Now that I am planning our 'Great Pacific Northwest' trip.. I am finding all kinds of places I want to go.. for a hobbit.. I really have the travel bug pretty bad. Someday.. I'd like to go to Banff.. and Quebec.. and Paris, Italy, back to Scotland, New Zealand, somewhere tropical.. and .. oh..only about 100 other places.. :D :P

helonia, are you having any fall-out from that volcanic ash yet? I am glad to hear you have sunny weather.
I am confused about your job however.. is it that you were wishing to give notice & look for a new job?
