*waves*

I'm here, although only in a drive-by sense. :)

I'm in the middle of my final, coastguard exams, which is why I've been AWOL for the past month - busy studying and finishing up all my reports and things. Now I've only got three exams left and then two days after that, I'm off to Helsinki to see Rowan! :yippie:

Sorry to hear about your yet another cast, Scribbles. :( Since I missed out on the last one (I have read all the posts, though, so I've seen the photos of the wonderful drawings) could I have a leaping dolphin? Because I think I'll feel as happy as one on Wednesday when I've finished my exams. :D

Now, I'm about to have lunch and then load my bicycle into the car to drive to a nearby park to go cycling in. I have to take advantage of the glorious weather (and attempt to get some exercise too).

Here's where I am and here's where I'm going cycling. :)

Tooks, I'm with Cock Robin here....I think that's the Matterhorn. :D

And no, I'm not going up Everest! I'd probably die on the way to base camp. LOL!

NL....I watch a bunch of different groups (expedition teams). Not sure why but I'm fascinated with the whole process. There have already been over 100 summits, mostly last week and there might be up to 300 this weekend. Wee bit too many in my opinion.....the place is like a highway anymore, so many people (and all the problems that brings).

The last week has been an exciting week as the expedtions have been trying to figure out what the monsoon in India is doing and how the Jet stream is going to react. Timing is everything and it's just been way to windy the last week to summit. But the monsoon pushed the jet stream north and the winds have calmed and they are pushing to the summit. :) This is the last window before the climbing season ends.....and the monsoons take over.

my favorite blog is here.... http://www.alanarnette.com/news/
it has links to many of the other blogs so take a peak if you're interested. I guess the 13 year old has just summited, I haven't been watching his stuff much (actually, seems they kept a low profile and he summited from the north, much less news from that side). The group I seem to watch the most is Peak Freaks....and Altitude Junkies.

Waves to all..... :hihi:

. . . sends a tired :hihi: to everyone . . .

One of the guys from the group stayed over last night . . . I left him and the hubby around 11:30 pm to amuse themselves and went to bed so tired i could hardly string two words together, LOL. It's still too cold and damp to cut the grass, so hubby's gone off somewhere . . . and i get to pay some bills and bask in the quietness . . . ;)

So the beds and towels are changed and I'm nearly done the laundry . . . Too cool to go play in the yard today, but hopefully, that'll change before I have to go back to work on Wednesday . . . ;)

Sooo, the list for new artwork so far is:

1) Tooks - a 'big' spider (Shelob)
2) truehobbit - a strawberry
3) notlistening - a Kangaroo
4) heliona - a leaping dolphin
5) Iris - a spider-crushing rock

LOL . . . have a grand Saturday afternoon all, or Sunday as the case may be . . . ;)

sets an alarm for 9 pm tomorrow . . . :P

:D:D:D

Um, I think you missed my post on the previous page, m'dear.
I seem to recall I requested a teddy bear before anyone else made their requests.

Sheesh, talk about being invisible or something.

Well, Friday morning and afternoon went very well.
The caregivers had a plan and I just stood back and served the food.

Tooks, I had a similar experience with the inner-nut a few weeks back.
Ya just can't trust some of the so called experts these days.
Still it was a pretty mountain. :D

A 13 year old climbs Everest?!
Well good for him. Glad he made it.
As for me climbing any mountain?
No...
Not this little black duck.
I have enough challenges in my life at sea level, thank you all the same.

heliona, pretty place to go cycling.
Have fun. :D
And Good Luck with your exams.

See y'all later..

Scribbles, draw a cat in the cast for me, if you please. :)

We spent this afternoon at the older daughter's school, they had an Open Doors day. It's a really nice place! Of course, we also supported them by buying some summer flowers from their shop. 8)

There was a thunderstorm near us when we got home; it didn't come right on us, though. But, I always get sleepy when there's thunder in the air. So, the rest of the day has gone at eating, napping, and reading. :P

I have my beliefs.

I also have someone else's beliefs, stolen during an opportune moment. I keep them in a box next to my collection of unpaired socks which people think they've lost.
"...Their aim in war with Germany is nothing more, nothing less than extermination of Hitlerism... There is absolutely no justification for this kind of war. The ideology of Hitlerism, just like any other ideological system, can be accepted or rejected, this is a matter of political views. But everyone grasps, that an ideology can not be exterminated by force, must not be finished off with a war.” - Vyacheslav Molotov, ""On the Foreign Policy of the Soviet Union", 31 October 1939

Afterlife? What's that, precioussss? Is it something edible?

Well, I've got my beliefs as well. I can sell them for, say, $5.000.000. :P

Now, window washing in my house tends to be a long-time project. Today, I took on the easy ones. The rest, which take more things to move to get to them, will have to wait until the next suitable day.

Instead, I got inspired to pack kid #2 into the car, and go to see a couple of bands in an open air concert.

But now, the weekend is almost gone... Why do they always go all too quickly?

It's a Communist plot to rob the decadent Capitalist nations of any leisure time. Why do you need a weekend off!! You should be wanting to work, work, WORK for the good of the State at all times!!!! :P :)

Just kidding . . . no offense intended to anyone with communist leanings . . . ;) in this life or the after life, where, in my fondest hopes and prayers, there will be no work . . . ;) :D As for my beliefs, I doubt anyone would pay a plugged nickel for them so i'll share 'em for free . . . ;)

Soooo, Calma's teddy bear, Took's Big Spider, hobby's strawberry and rowanberry's kitty are done. I'll be back with pictures in a bit, I'm currently working on kangaroos, dolphins, rocks and unicorns - oh my!

Scribbles, your arm will be covered by a zoo!

hehehe, I have toby's address now. And have thought of something to send him. Not insect related...

Rowan, another concert? You see about as many bands as does my boss. She likes her rock n roll.

I had a 3rd wheel kind of weekend. You know the kind where you are with 2 other people and feel a wee bit left out in conversations. I don't really have a lot of stuff to contribute that isn't trivial. Steff was right all those years ago, I am shallow.

I got some purple socks yesterday. Not the same as the ones ST is squirreling away...

Tooks, we don't get LOST until wednesday. So no spilling sekrits! :nono: :D

Yah for Heliona nearly finished exams.

Wenchie, I watched an Everest special last year, but only because David Tennant did the V/O.

Hope the rest of you have a good sunday.

Hehehe, Zoos are fun . . . ;)

I think rowanberry sees more concerts than all the rest of us put together . . . :) Which is a nice thing, to be sure. Hmmm, I think I'll order her kind of life for my next life . . . ;) :D

Ooookay, the art attempts so far are:

1) Calma - a Teddy Bear
2) Tooks - a 'big' spider (Shelob)
3) truehobbit - a Strawberry
4) notlistening - a Kangaroo
5) heliona - a leaping dolphin
6) Iris - a spider-crushing rock
7) rowanberry - a cat

The unicorn is next up onto the drawing board, but I needed a break from the nail polish fumes. Soooo, we went out for dinner with the Mustang Gang and now, it's tea and bed, LOL . . .

Have a great evening y'all . . .
