It's 9:10am MST on a grey, foggy Monday . . . -8C and the forecast is calling for "light flurries" today and tomorrow. Not so bad for late February up here actually. ;)

rwhen, you made a wise choice. Home needs to be the "quiet" place you go to unwind and noisy kids, dogs, neighbors will just end up adding to your daily stress. I'm sure the "right" place will come along, patience is always rewarded! :)

Our weekend was another crushing one, hubby got home so late (Saturday mid-day instead of Thursday evening) and he had to turn right around and go out again last night. So it wasn't exactly relaxing, LOL.

But we made it through and I decided to work from home today . . . ;)

 for working at home today Scribbles. Sorry you didn't have much peace this weekend, make up for it today. Also you are right, but that IS the boo of living downstairs. I am ever mindful when I go walking about at 3am to tread softly. Nothing worse than someone clomping about when you are trying to sleep or rest.

:D

Been getting everyone out the door this morning. Still Brother Jim is dragging his feet, then I can get some work accomplished.

It's 11:23 am MST and I think I'll do my workout at lunchtime today, instead of at the end of the day . . . :D

Just one more perk of working at home, LOL. :)

When I was a kid, we lived in apartments for a while (until some friends begged us to rent their house) and I remember my mother always telling us to walk lightly, in consideration of the folks downstairs. To this day, I have a very light tread indoors, my hubby laughs and says I only do it to "sneak up on him". Which, of course, sometimes I do. ;) =:)

Hope you can shoo da Brudder out the door soon, rwhen. :)

20:37 EET.

It snowed again today. When I looked out from the younger daughter's window, I was really amazed to see how much snow there actually is.

Vana, hope you got some proper sleep.

Okay the day is moving nicely along now. Brother gone, but will be back .. GAHHHHH... ;) Got Chililicious TV on the other monitor and getting some work done.

Scribbles. I wonder why more parents don't talk to their kids about that sort of thing. Meaning, consideration of others who live around them in the apartments. Even being upstairs, the people across from me (for over four years now) their four kids, during the nice weather, "play" on the stairs. Sounds echo off the walls and the constant up and down, up and down, will grate on your last nerve eventually.

I know that if it were me, my kids would do all the running on the "playgound" that is very convenient to all apartments. Not on the stairs. It is like they don't notice themselves. Odd.

Anyway, hope your workout is a good one.

Rowan!! Howdy. Love the dress in your siggie. Stay safe in the snow.

It's 2:21 pm MST and the workout was good, although I did a slightly shorter than normal one so I could have time to wolf down a sammich and a pear . . . ;)

The "light flurries" have been barely that, here a flake, there a flake . . . but I'm not complaining! Although we need the moisture, the less I have to shovel between now and May 1st the better. ;) :P

rowanberry, I agree, that dress is gorgeous . . .

rwhen, some people just don't "hear" the noise when it's their own. My neighbor is the same with his dog, he'll complain about everyone else's dogs barking, but doesn't hear his own when he shoves her outside and forgets about her. Even in the summer with their windows open, they just seem to tune her barking out . . . while the rest of us teeter on the edge of going postal . . .

Have you gently suggested the playground to your neighbors? They could be taking it for granted that their kids aren't "bothering" anyone . . . toweringly stupid of them, I know, but it happens. ;)

Okay, back to work . . .

oldtoby wrote:So you dont have to shivel if theres snow on May 2nd?

Nope. Don't happen to own a shivel . . . only shovels. ;) :D (And truth be told, we've even had snow on and even after the May long weekend . . . )

Its time to get my stitches out(well tomorrow) about time too, they are starting to get infected :(

A simple and effective way to kill that infection oldtoby, is to make up some very warm (as warm as you can stand without pain) salt water and bathe the infected area with it (I use a wad of sterile gauze). Bathe the area until the water has cooled. Clean, hot salt water is one of the best remedies (it's old fashioned yes, but effective and very inexpensive). :D

Sea Salt is better than table salt and the solution should be 1 tablespoon salt per cup of water.

Let us know how it goes . . . :)

I dont think that will do a lot, the reason its starting to get infected is the stitches have been in so long they are starting to get sucked under the skin, one has started oozing pus...yuk

2.29pm on a muggy summer's day - but way better than yesterday, when it was about 10 degrees (centigrade) hotter.

And it's way past time I got a new PC. Hopefully the computer guy can rescue the info in the hard drive... (PS. am typing this from my laptop)

Yes, but once they pull the stitches, the pus will have an opportunity to drain. Trust me, salt water will draw the infection out and dry it up. It's worth a try, no? :)

Judy, I hope the data on your hard drive is recoverable. Most good tech guys can manage to copy off a great majority if not all of the data to either DVD's or another drive.

That reminds me, I really need to back up my hard drive . . .

And now it's 8:50 pm MST and time to get my hiney out of this computer chair . . .

It is 8:27pm and I am home from work as well. I have been having a meeting tonight with my team and also had to start my self evaluation at work. Oh I hate that. I am usually so hard on myself and I hate to sound like I am bragging with I do something good. When I finish it I have to submit it to my GM and then he and I will discuss it before he sends it on to the higher ups. I hate this!!!!

Vana.. you have to try to be a bit more objective about yourself. Think about the things you do well.. the things you take great pride in doing. If you don't think well of yourself.. why should anyone else? Sure, there are always things we should work on.. but be honest.. I am sure you do very well.

Time to hit the sheets. G'night all!

But this is not 'blowing your own horn' it is about being honest with yourself sweetie. Acknowledging that you are good in some things.. and that you are a dedicated worker who takes pride in what she does. That is not 'blowing your own horn' that is information your employer needs to know.

Anyway.. good night.. and good luck!

Tuesday on the boards!! Hope it is a good day for everyone.

 CR you have two days off..wheeeeeee. :D

Vanadarlin', while it is hard to be objective, there are little wins, like you get to work on time, you volunteered to come in during closing to feed the animals, you take on extra projects. Those are things you have written right here on TORC, so certainly you could write them on your review. :D  143, don't sweat it, you will do just fine.

Scribbles, you back in the office today?

Have a great day everyone!!

Vana, self evaluations are difficult and I think most folks would agree with you on how hard it is to admit you're good at something without coming across as a bragging prat. I think lots of people feel more secure saying what they need to improve, rather than what they've accomplished. I feel for you darlin', I surely do, I HATE yearly performance reviews with a passion too! But Rose is wise, don't be afraid to write down how much you've done and learned over the year, you deserve to be recognized for your hard work! :D

LOL CR, I've heard your place of work referred to as Hell-Mart too . . . I really wish you'd get more good days than bad . . . :)

Yep rwhen, back at the office with a bear of a day ahead. Test Case documentation to update, lunch date, after-work work meeting . . .

Okay, it's just after 10 am MST and our Test Team Lead is LATE for our 10 am meeting . . . grar.

Yup, yup Vana... rwhen & Scribbles are right.. if you do a self-evaluation that is TOO self-deprecating, it might sound, to a higher-up boss that does not know you... as if you are less than enthusiastic in the job.. and that you have not learned much/accomplished anything. And we know that's not true.

I've never heard Wally-world called Hell-Mart... but it doesn't surprise me. :P CR.. it's a shame, but it is a job. You can't change the people who come in.. you can only change your attitude toward them. It won't make the customers any different, but it may help you cope with your job a little better. Enjoy those days off!!!!!!!!!!!!

Test case documentation.. oi.. that sounds ... icky.

Oh crud.. I always forget to put the time in.. 11:54am

9:48 am

and just ate a Girl Scout cookie. I LOVE the ones with the peanut butter inside, they changed the name of them, so I don't know what it is called anymore, but there is a saltiness to it that I like with the peanut butter. Then the thin mints is my next favorite (frozen) and they changed the name of that too. My brother bought like a CASE of cookies from somewhere. I will have to find one of those green monsters and buy me a few boxes.

I have to support the Scouts!! :D

Hiya Rose!! After this spate of snow is done, it appears you have about a week of no snow, according to the national weather map this morning. But it will remain cold for you. Still, I know that it is early in the winter too, with how long it lasts for you, you will get plenty more. Happy to have this break with hopefully some blue skies.

oooooooooh.. I hope hubby does not buy any Girl Scout cookies.. I am trying really hard to loose weight.. and I love those thin mints frozen as well! I can never just eat one. Or two... Hubby likes the Peanut butter Savannahs.. or whatever they are now called.

According to the weather bug on my computer we are supposed to get snow every day yet this week... but only about an inch or less per day. I see that there is a HUGE storm brewing for the Northeast though.. a real whopper... I'm glad I'm not there...

It's snowing here. But it's not accumulating.

However, here that is grounds for closing the college, based on the precedent of "The great snowless-snow day 2010!"

This is what I saw and there is a chance of snow being called for until Thursday and then three or four days of mostly clear. I hope that the National Weather is right and that you get that sun. That has to feel better than snow.

I buy a few boxes every year, I feel the need to give back what Scouting gave to me as a girl. The problem is that the thin mints get lost in the back of the freezer and I end up tossing them and the peanut butter ones go stale before I can eat them. One cookie is enough to satisfy me for a long time.
