Work?

We're only in it for the money... :D

But, today, it's been Saturday. We slept in, made a trip to the grocery, and had a couple of friends visiting in the evening. They left about half an hour ago.

Now, I'll just relax. 8)

Today we ran the liqueurs over to the fairgrounds. Tuesday night I get to bake, Wednesday daytime hubby gets to bake while I'm at work, then that evening we have to run the baked goods over to the fairgrounds. Meanwhile, today we bought the rest of the supplies we need for these projects.

Hubby has entered 3 liqueurs, and he'll be making banana bread, and 3 Sisters Cornbread. (We each insist on having invented it! But he gets to enter it under "For Guys Only" because that's the only category that's totally open as to type of baked good.) And I'm entering the State Apple Pie contest.

BTW, when I finally nail down the recipe I like, I'll post it over in Cooking Guild. But every time I want to do so, the recipe I used last gets shuffled off somewhere and I have to start all over again... :( Hubby has found one he likes; we'll see how that turns out. It's basically whatever cornbread recipe you like best, modified by cutting the liquid and adding about a cup each of mashed pumpkin or other winter squash, (cooked or canned) beans of your choice, and whole-kernel corn (maize, for you Old-Worlders).

MMMMMMM....foood. I luffs food. :D Foood. foooooooooo-er, sorry. I got off work quite late. It's oatmeal night again due to that fact. The meal I had planned since about four this afternoon was too involved and would have had to be enjoyed at about 11 PM. :P

ANYWAY, Morwenna I'm drooling over your food descriptions. (If you couldn't tell already. ;) ) You're baking some for the TVMers correct?

Awww poor Tooks . . . Image

Our one half day of sunshine and barely warm weather yesterday turned into clouds and cool before supper and today, the clouds and cool has turned to rain and cold. Grrrrrrrrrr . . . . Most of the trees are now showing patches of yellow, orange or red with a few trees already bare. *sob* Image Yesterday evening when I got home from the First Aid course, I pulled the sheets off my tomatoes thinking they could use a bit of air, only to find the frost came through the fence and killen 'em all dead. . . gah. Luckily they were very heavy on the leaves so the fruit was protected, so I harvested it all and it's downstairs under newspapers to ripen. Next year, I'm building hot frames for them, I swear it . . .

We're supposed to get drier and somewhat warmer weather by Tuesday that just might, if God is merciful, last until next weekend. I think I'll be spending every evening this week cleaning out my gardens and planter pots and getting the shed ready to store everything for the w . . . . the w . . . . the . . . for the end of the season. :P

Hubby got no weekend to speak of either and is on a long shift again this week. Which is actually good for me; I can get a ton o' stuff done before next weekend and maybe, just maybe, get two days of actual rest. ;)

Hey, I love this time of year. Long-sleeve-shirt weather, jacket weather; time to haul out all the hearty recipes (soups, stews, baked goods...). And then there's the grand holiday season! I'm a sucker for holidays.

Of course I'll feel totally different in January...

Morwenna, I don't mind Fall so much either. Except when it's rainy and cold and muddy and crappy . . . then I'm not such a fan. ;) But I'm also looking forward to trying a bunch of new recipes in a cooking magazine hubby brought home last year, it has all these scrumptious recipes for stews and crock-pot meals. :D

Bwah hahahahahaha!! I remember that too, and it reminded me of the first time I met Bardhwyn, the famous Archer of Dale . . . it was in FrodoTook's old Eldar's Guild and I pushed her into the pool as well. I think we had barely been introduced . . . :evilaugh: Ah, good times, good times. ;) :D

Tooks . . . y'all know stuff like that is gonna come full circle and bite you in the butt, right? You'll probably get all our sn . . . sn . . . white stuff this year. :P :D

*sigh* And tomorrow's Monday . . . I feel so much like Garfield . . .

I HATE MONDAYS!!

If I truly get my new day off as requested and promised, I wont mind Mondays too much.

It will be because I have Sundays off and Tuesdays off. So Monday will just be a short stumble into my week. ;) But then Wednesdays will be a bi....I mean a tough beginning to my weekly stretch.

Fall is not favorite time of year but definitely not the worst. I hate winter with its cold and bleak grey days. I as an elf prefer green and growing seasons such as spring and summer. Fall is very pretty with its changing of color but it also has to happen to have spring with its new growth.

you all be busy posters!

Well I'm back from my ski trip. Despite the extreme earliness (4.30am!!!!!) of rising friday morning, we were on the slopes by 12! We got a half day skiing on friday, full day saturday and half day again on sunday. My accomodations were nice but simple. One can't get too much for $150 a night on snow. But the 3 course meals were superb! You actually couldn't fit them in so on saturday night I skipped the entree and just had main and dessert.

The snow was nice and hard packed each morning but softened down to slush by middayish. Was harder going then, been likened to skiing on mashed potatoes but still fun. Had a lovely hot chocolate each day. Only downside was my room mate snored...

Glad to hear you had a good ski trip, nl, and very glad to see you back safe and sound. Ah yes, snoring room mates, one of the reasons a set of nice foam ear plugs is a must in the luggage. ;) Will you get a chance to ski again before spring really comes raging in?

Vana, I agree, Monday would definitely be easier to take when it's followed by a day off, LOL. Of course, I'd love to work Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday then get a four day weekend, but well, that's not about to happen so . . . it's off to work I go. ;)

Now, see, I'm a hobbit, and hobbits are all about harvest! :D But I know what you mean about winter. New snowfalls are gorgeous, but it's nice to see them from inside a nice warm home. And without any snow (and we're too close to the water to get snow all that often), winter is DRAB! Of course I'm not all that fond of summer anyway, the hot & sticky parts. Spring, yes, once it warms up enough, especially when all the trees and shrubs are in bloom.

I love fall and the beginning of winter. Actually, I'm usually sad to see spring come because I know I'm in for months of sneezing and running eyes/nose. I'm not a huge fan of the cold, but I can always put another layer on. :) And cuddles are nice too...

Well, I've found the WiKi's evening wear and swimsuit, plus a beyootiful site with lots and lots of armor pics.

Alas no. It's too far to go more than once a year. 6 hr car drive. But the snow will be gone in about 2 weeks is my guess.

I can't wait until my new work shoes get here.
My feet are screaming at me.
I would have ordered them a couple of months ago,
But we ran into a bit of a money fix and I couldn't shell out $70 for them.
They should be here by the end of the week.

What a day.
The state inspectors showed up.
They'll be here through Wednesday.
And to top it all off, corporate is on the way, too.

Boy, some days ya just win for nothing.

Glad you like the Star Trek video, Tooks.

Dang, it's not even 7pm PDT, and I'm thinking about snuggling into the bed.
Man, I must be tired.

Is it Friday yet?

Have a good one.
Later...
