According to my rain gauge we got a little bit over 3 inches of rain. No problemo. That's not enough to even make the Swatara flood. ;)

***Transparabolic coil sends Martin right on her face***

Ow, that hurt!

I'm bringing back Sam (as David Tennant might portray him) this year to MoME and hopefully getting enough "air" time. That and I need to track down that evil-twin of mine (may be I should give her a name something that says evil.)

Any ways, it's supposed to be raining outside, but instead it's sunny. Hoping it stays this way.

Presses button to open wormhole***

Have good day!

New tour!

Okay, tour number two. This is a tour of the locality of where my parents are now living. They live in a tiny place called Claonaig. The closest place with shops is the village of Tarbert

There's quite a bit to do in the area, so long as you're happy to be outside! There's walking, horse-riding, looking at castles, going fishing, whale-watching, and sailing the beautiful west coast of Scotland. Let's not forget eating: this area is famous for its seafood in particular. And Campbeltown just down the road makes its own cheese (as well as whisky ;)).

Tarbert also hosts quite a few festivals, from the Seafood Festival to the new Traditional Boat Festival and the hugely popular Music Festival - Tarbert Festivals

There are also ferries to lots of islands within very easy access: Gigha, Islay (home of lots of whisky), Jura (also home to some whisky), and Arran. There's certainly not a lack of things to do.

If you're into sheepdogs (in the UK, Border Collies are really the only dog that is allowed to compete in National competitions, although apparently you do see some Bearded Collies very occasionally), then during the summer (and for most of the winter too) there are a lot of sheepdog trials happening around the area (Nell's parents, and her siblings will once they're older, take part in them, for instance). To compete, the dog has to be registered with the International Sheepdog Society (for interest, Nell is registered because she's a pedigree dog from working stock, although I doubt she'll ever compete, but you never know!).

Tarbert's ideally situated at the top of the Mull of Kintyre, which means that lots of place are accessible from it, such as Glasgow, Loch Lomond and further afield.

So, who's going to join me in a vacation there? :D

Tarbert looks like an awesome place; I'd love to go there :D

Awesome about your friend's new car Calma.

Ooh, it is MoME soon. I'll have to read it but I probably won't try to compete because of procrastination and sporadic posting.

Love the Hobbit trailer though. Fangirling over it now. Was that guy with the hedgehoggy-whatsit Radagast? because I *think* I read somewhere that he was but he doesn't look Radagast-y IMO.

I got a phone call today about that job I thought I had, and they asked me to go in on Saturday for a trial, and probably to work Saturday evenings, so that's awesome :D :D (and I managed to go a whole four days without destroying any computers, so also awesome :D )

Cool tour, heliona. Lots of things to do and see there.
It would be cool if Nell competes, but I'm sure it takes a lot of time to train her.

Lebasi, cool about the job, I'll keep my fingers crossed for ya.
A few coins in the pocket is always a good thing. :D:D
And yes, it was Radagast in the Trailer.
I thought his sled was marvelous.

Oh, as for MoME, will y'all be needin' a judge?

I would loooove to go to Scotland. Maybe I could find some distant relatives! :D

Is it just me or is TORC moving rather slooooooooooooooowly lately? Must be the influx of n00bs in the Hobbit forum. 8)

I am off to post the MoME stuff in m00bies. Be there or be square. ;)

Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening, all! :hihi:

No, Tooks, it's not just you.
TORC has been slow for many people for a few weeks now.
Sometimes I can get on in a blink sometimes I have to try three times.
My other sites I have no trouble with.
We've put a message in the One Ring forum,
But I 'spect Jon's a busy man so we wait.

Indeed slow posting issues on this end too. So glad to know it isn't just me.

heliona, LOVELY photo's of Scotland and also Nell.

Loved the new Hobbit trailer...can't wait for December!! I might go up and see it with Vanadarlin' and Guru in Seattle for a Sunday matinee. WHEEE.

MOME already? Pfffft. NL suggested Smaugs cave for a location this year. That could be interesting and tie in nicely with The Hobbit coming out. Hmmm, I will think on it. rowan likes to host typically. rowan?

Would you folks like to see a photo tour of where I grew up? I could put that together pretty quickly I should think.

It rained briefly this morning. I missed it but I see that the ground is wet and cars are all shineh.

Happy belated birthday to Lebasi!! Hello again Martin. Howdy to the rest of the TVM crew.

:hihi:

. . . sssssssneaks in . . .

LOL, great limmerick Calma . . . :lmbo:

TORC has been on-and-off performance wise for me too. I suspect it's getting time to clean up the ol' database and if the main page is any indication, maybe Jon is planning a face-lift too. Guess we'll wait and see what happens (and try to be patient in the meantime, LOL). :D

Can't find a contestant for MoME this year, seems Eomer has been busy flapping his gums at every elegible male that will listen, i.e. every danged one of them. :P However, the muse has decided to offer the Scribe up as a judge . . . and may the Valar have mercy on us all. :P =:)

*sigh* yes, I know. Unfortunately, I didn't end up working from home yesterday, and last night was at a company meeting until late. Add a hubby still home because his work truck is not out of the service shop yet and a buncha other chores, errands and commitments to the mix and you have a bewildered and tired Scribe with too much to do and not near enough time to "git 'er done" . . . :(

I'd looooove to see rwhen's tour in the meantime . . . ;) :D

Thanks :) Also, I need to raise about £4000 to go to Madagascar next Summer, so the money's much needed at the moment.

TORC's been quite slow for me too at the moment. I assumed it was because my computer's no good, but presumably it's not. Epic and suitable limerick for it Calma :D

NL I hear ya on that movie. I found it very sad and not very funny to me. It was a terrible time on our history even though it might have been true, I am hoping beyond hope that we have gotten past it and have matured enough to know better. I am appalled that anyone felt they had the right to treat people of a different race like that. I am ashamed to say my family is from the south. I did think the pie was a bit funny.

I don't like dwelling on our poor history when it comes to the treatment of others being such.
