I am back from the hospital, and this time. . . .
I AM BORG!!
Unfortunately, I am alone and had to get my own breakfast.No handy slot to plug myself into. The person Who was supposed to meet me when I got home, wasn't ("Gee, it's so late(7:30)")
She wandered in about 8:15, unable to find my house. But I was on my way to bed. I asked her to put away the phone and turn off a few lights and let herself out. I have seldom seen a person so able to push the wrong button, flip the wrong switch, not see an obvious place to hang up the phone and go out the wrong door. We will try again when she gets here at 9:00.(Am I being too demanding, or a curmudgeon?)

At least I have had breakfast. My desk chair (swivel) may not be safe to get out of and I may be stuck. Well, this is at least motivation to be able to get around on my own.

Thank you. :) I've been looking for a good Grumpy Cat, but can't use it until tomorrow...

So we stopped to see Rob's mom last night and in the midst of conversation she remarks, "Well, he always was a hypochondriac!" I was floored. Over his life he: had a stopped heart when he was 12, broke 3 ribs and it took a week for him to get anyone to take him to the hospital, had two tumors removed from his hip, fractured the other hip in the Marine Corps., has asthma, has COPD, has a heart condition, has arthritis and possibly fibromyalgia, along with all the "normal" bumps and bruises of growing up and living, including a serious car accident and falling while rock climbing (teenager thing). But he's a hypochondriac. :roll:

Sorry, I just had to vent there. :)

Wow! I can understand you wanting to rant, Iris. :shock:

I posted this in the TVM thread, but in case there is anyone that I missed:

Merry Christmas everyone!! I've sent out e-cards, but if you didn't get one, then either click here or else send me an email at "myusername" -at- "gmail" -dot- "com" and I'll send you one back (my email address book got deleted, so I've only a few email addresses in it now :roll:). :)

:hihi: all! We're in the throes of dessert- (and chex mix-) making here. Today: sugar cookie cut-outs and chocolate chip cheesecake. Also pockets for a coat I'm remaking, but you can't eat those... :P

No snow here; we had a very little on Saturday, I think, but it's all gone. Please send me some!!! This lack of white Christmasness is starting to get to me...

Rwhen, I left town before your card arrived, so I imagine it will be in my box when I get back.

CR, congrats on the interview! :clap: We to be inspirational! And further congrats on getting down to 200!

Iris, I'd call that a legitimate rant. :shock: Yeesh.

Saw the Hobbit again yesterday with my mom and sisters; much swooning over Kili and Thorin was had. :D

And if I don't get back soon... Merry Christmas!!! :hug: :hug: :hug:

So...for those who partake in Christmas, what does everybody want to find under their tree tomorrow? :-D

I'm looking forward to the slot car racers we got my boys. I used to have a track when I was a kid. It'll be fun to play them again. I'm glad they asked for it!! :)

I got cards from Iris and rwhen at my mom's house! :D Thank you ladies!

I'll get my cards out late, things have been crazy here. Besides, the 12 days of Christmas don't start until tomorrow. :D

What I hope to find under the tree? Not sure. I don't want much this year to be honest. It's just more stuff to find room for. :P I am looking forward to good food and cheer at the party at my sister in law's tonight and the one at my mom's tomorrow night.

HEEELLLLLOOOOOOO and MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!

I FINALLY got to see The Hobbit today!! :yippie: I saw it in 3-D, though not by choice. When I called the theatre for times, I was told 2:00. When I went to buy my ticket, I was asked if I wanted the 1:20 showing or the 2:00 showing. Since it was already ten minutes til two, I said the 2:00. The ticket seller said, "well, that's the 3-D version," and handed me a pair of plastic glasses. It was the first time I'd seen a movie in 3-D, and it IS an interesting effect, but I think next time I'll opt for the non 3-D version. Getting the 3-D glasses to fit properly over my regular glasses was a bit tricky.

Iris---got your Christmas card today, thank you! I'm afraid you'll get mine after Christmas, as I didn't get them in the mail on time.

I don't put up a tree, with nine cats in the house that's just asking for trouble, but----what do I want under my (imaginary) tree?
A winning lottery ticket would be nice. =:)

As Good a Time as Any

The hour I sit to write is still and late,
all traces of the day have echoed on;
some rest, while others short of patience...wait...
and peer at clocks in hopes of swifter dawn.
The gifts beneath our tree some deem as mute
but I hear Siren-whispers nonetheless,
not strong as trumpet blasts or Piper's flute,
but gentle sighs of promised happiness.
Thus while I wait for skies to limn with pink,
for flecks of sunshine gold to gild the snow,
this time is good as any, I should think,
for spending time with good folk here I know.

The lessons learned throughout this year were grim,
but not all days were ashen grey with grief;
I relished time with friends -- a prayer, a hymn,
were gifts that did much more than bring relief.
I watched how deep a love went deeper still;
saw joy shine in my wife's beleaguered eyes,
discovered ways how empty hearts can fill
with truths conveyed by elder hearts most wise.
This time is good as any, I believe,
to celebrate with friends in noble halls,
how good it is that each of you receive,
the weary heart who meekly comes and calls.

Blessings,
Parm :)
...who is slowly adapting to life here
from nearly three decades of life lived
far over ...there.
The autumn I know and love in Calgary.
