heliona I read your post :D and I knew Herriots name was Wight too. I'm happy his books inspired you to go to his college - I loved his books - and the tv series as well.

So now, if you believe the latest medical info - coffee will make you go blind! I always thought that was something else that would blind you

Oh, new TVM!

Needs some paint :P

I've turned my cable TV back on, after three months of not having it and not feeling its absence much. The cable company only allows me to freeze it for 4 months per year without a complete disconnect, and I haven't yet decided if I want to permanently turn it off.

In other news, my cell phone's battery is dead, and the cell phone provider wants some 250 shekels (50 euros) for a new battery. Highway robbery is what it is. I've decided that I need to upgrade to a better smartphone anyhow... and switch the provider while I'm at it. I will probably be buying my new cell phone in Germany where they cost about half of what they cost here; trouble is, I apparently cannot configure a foreign-bought phone for Hebrew unless it's operating system is Android 4.0 or better.

Can anyone recommend a cell phone model that would fit the bill without breaking my budget?
"...Their aim in war with Germany is nothing more, nothing less than extermination of Hitlerism... There is absolutely no justification for this kind of war. The ideology of Hitlerism, just like any other ideological system, can be accepted or rejected, this is a matter of political views. But everyone grasps, that an ideology can not be exterminated by force, must not be finished off with a war.” - Vyacheslav Molotov, ""On the Foreign Policy of the Soviet Union", 31 October 1939

I read your post too, heliona. :D Welcome back. Hope to see more Nell pics soon! I've read every Herriot book more than once. 8)

Story, I certainly can't help you with the phone question. :P

I am off to Scotland today. Clean up after the raccoons for me....

rowan, the move has gone pretty well so far. There are some problems with the house we've moved into, mainly due to the landlord being a numpty, having put stuff in wrong and then refusing to have anything done about it. But hopefully we'll get it sorted eventually. The house is nice and the area is lovely. I think the drive to uni will be pleasant (if long!) so long as the weather behaves itself. :-)

ST, I'm afraid I'm not particularly au fait with mobile phones. I would suggest that any phone with Android 4.0 will be quite expensive, though. :cry2:

New TVM ! Must be part of it ;)

Hue is double posting to get to 22000 faster, uh ?! I see... ;)

I have a medical appointment tomorrow (yeah, Sunday), so I'll miss a day of work... that is the good new... and if the result of the tests is positive, they'll see me again on Tuesday for the painfull intervention... one of the very painfull thing I lived in my life... again... I'm a bit afraid of how it will be this time, but I can't wait until it's done, so I can't think of next step. And my boss is going crazy because we are lacking people to replace the ones who are already in sick leave, and I may have several separate days of sick leave myself... So I can't decide if it's a good new or a bad one !

Well, here I am...

A day late and a dollar short...

Nice digs. :D:D:D

Was with the bff all day yesterday.

Today I get my new table and chairs. (is sooo happy)
It's not a fancy-Dan thing. More a pub set, but I love it.
It's tall. The chairs are tall. I can get out of the chairs without needing a boost up.
It's also a little bigger than the set I have now.
It's on sale and I have the money for it.

Oh gads, I hope I didn't just jinx myself.

Nope.
Not going to think that way.

Later...

Well, I sorta jinxed myself....

The set I wanted and have been wanting since last Christmas was not in stock.
They don't deliver dining sets. Can you dig that?
They deliver chairs and couches but they don't deliver dining sets.
Wassup wit dat?
Anyway, I left the store ticked off, and near tears.
I wanted that set.
Just not in the cards.

My babyman suggested Amazon.
We got on and found a much better one for about the same price.
And they deliver.

So, in about 5 days I'll have my new set.
I've waited nearly a year, I can wait a bit longer.

Be back with a picture in a bit.

ETA... Here's the picture

*blinks* Wow, Story the new paint is BRIGHT. :D Can't help you with the phone thingy either . . . sad to say.

Way to go Calma . . . you know what they say; God may close a door but then He opens a window, LOL. Glad you got a better deal too. :D

Sounds like your landlord needs a bit o' frypan therapy there heliona. ;) :D I hope Wilko and friend can get the plumbing sorted. (though I have heard that the British are famous for their strange plumbing . . . ) :D

Verrrry tired here. I think I need a new pillow, I've woke up two days in a row now with a sore neck and a pounding headache.

And I have a list of chores and errands a mile long. Good thing it's Thanksgiving weekend up here - I'm thankful for three days off!

Hope everyone's having a grand day (and that Tooks leaves Scotland standing :P ) Later!

Whoooohoooo.....new digs! 8)

And I'm highly impressed someone else got shotgun other than Calma, she's usually too quick. Calma, that is a very nice set....I like the color.

Heliona has moved! Wow....I kinda missed that. I've been out of the loop for so long I've forgotten how to get back into the loop.

Finished up my third week of the new job and wow.....I am working with some seriously disfunctional people. The two main guys I work with are like an old married couple (a bad marriage at that). They nitpick at each other constantly and they have some serious issues to be handled. But not by me....I hope. Last week I had another guy I work with come up and tell me that he was glad I was here and that I'm going to be the glue to keep the project running smoothly. What??????? I don't want to be glue...I just want to do my time and go home. This will definitely be an adventure. (and I finally get my office Monday!).

And NL...I'm sitting here with a cup of tea from the tea I sent you, that sat in quarantine in Sidney for a few months until it passed inspection, then they sent it back to me. LOL! It's good! I promise not to send you tea anymore. Silly me.

Tooks....hope you had a good time in Scotland! Visiting the family?

OK...this is the most I've posted in a month. Hi to everyone! :hihi:

Wow - look what this new venue has done to people

Hue with a grand entrance
Calma with new furniture
daWench with a new office
Scribbler on the look out for a new pillow
Isildy - well not sure what's going to happen with her  Certainly hope today's appt. went well so that you don't have any follow up on Tues.

All this talk of James Herriot makes me want to re-read his books.... next on list I guess.

Calma the dining room set is lovely - I don't particularly like the taller chairs my own self but they are certainly very pretty... and what's with a furniture company that doesn't deliver dining sets??? keerazy

Happy Sunday all - and to you Canadians - Happy Thanksgiving.... is that why turkeys were on sale at Costco????

Oh, nice new place. Lacks cabana boys though...

Monday again...and after daylight savings has kicked in so tired this morning. I think I need to share a cup of tea with da wench. Dumb customs. Tea is not bad. :nono: Hope the workmate settle down soon.

Oh wenchie, I finally finished your caramels. I've been keeping them in the fridge so they are still all okay.

I'm watching a special about southern Italy and they are showing me Stomboli volcano.

At one time, I also read all the books by James Herriot that I could get in my hands. I loved his stories! Also, I followed the TV series based on them which I thought was very well made. :)
