Happy Friday! 8)

Sheesh, I haven't got here in ages...

Great photos, nl! Wish I could have been there, too...

Although, spring has finally come. We've got both sun and rain, and warmer temperatures, and the snow has vanished super quickly. Both the first wildflowers and garden flowers are in bloom, and birds wake me up as soon as it gets light in the morning. :D

And, I'm all for a flowers/garden theme for May!

There were a couple on the island, but on the ranch where they shoot movies and at the Polynesian cultural centre as it had a bit about Easter Island / Rapa Nui. None are the real thing as far as I know.

Alright.

You were really lucky to snap pictures of those whales :D I've never seen a whale and I'd love to.

Hola! :hihi: And a happy Sunday/Monday to the lot of ya.

Got the wash and dishes done and am now lazing about waiting for the Mariners game.
Not much more happening here, I'm too old to go looking for anything exciting anyway.

Have a good one.

Boo!!! :P :D
Mostly recovered from Hawai'i, and now my biggest challenge is recovering from going back to work, LOL. :)

I finally managed to get all the pictures I took downloaded off my Blackberry, but now comes the re-sizing and uploading to Photobucket my ownself. I can guarantee mine are nowhere as nice as notlistening's, she's an amazing photographer (and owns some pretty impressive cameras too!). But I'll try and get them up as soon as possible . . .

I've heard Robins singing so Spring is here even though it turned a bit cool again today. Unlike Tooks, I won't be planting anything for at least a month yet . . . ;)

I got the best belated birthday gift EVER from my dad today - 5 litres of dried mushrooms. Genuine hand-picked forest mushrooms, not greenhouse-grown tasteless stuff.

And let me tell you, a large bowl of mushroom soup with some bread makes the BEST work lunch.

Well, I figured that might be a little awkward. And besides, I like New Jersey too much to leave for long. That, or Siren Wisconsin.

Ironically, it's so hard to get good food in either place since so much stuff in New Jersey is pre-processed, pre-packaged, loaded to the gills with strange chemicles, junk. A big container of dried mushrooms, or better yet fresh ones, is tough to come by at times. But I can have my choice of at least 20 different brands/varieties of canned mushroom soup, which makes me gag.

And never stew cat. They get tough. Stir Fry is the way to go.

Dried forest mushrooms are hard to come by anywhere. In Israel one can find small quantities of them in the Russian delikatessen stores, for outrageous prices - and they're still greenhouse-grown.

Iris, cats and potatoes don't go together, in my experience. Last time I tried to make a cat-and-potato stew, the cat got so tough it ate all the potatoes.

Do Seychelles have mushrooms?

5 litres of dried mushrooms.

It comes in litres? I would have thought kilograms if it were dried and litres if liquid?? Peoples weigh things differently where we all live, I suppose.

And I'm with Calma. Mushrooms = ewwww! I'd never make it as a hobbit.

Holiday is now just a very fond memory. Though I miss having breakfast, luncheon and supper with the Scribe. And watching movies and whales together. I was telling the Scribe of the other part of my holiday: when my friend Bec and I climbed Diamond Head, I had a Cirith Ungol moment as there were stairs....and a tunnel. But Bec did not understand the reference.

See, you lot would have totally known what I was talking about.

It comes in mushrooms from an actual forest :P

In our family we measure mushrooms in litres. Dried mushrooms have barely any weight, and it takes a LOT of them to make a kilo. Plus we don't sell them, we just eat them. So it makes more sense for us to measure mushrooms by volume as it tells me what size of container (or how many) I'm going to need in order to store them.

Good luck with that. I've often wondered if I were brave enough to do it, but I find out that having that relatively inexpensive form of entertainment around at a time when I'm completely exhausted (i.e., right after work) is invaluable. Reading when you can't keep your eyes open is kind of tough.
