Well, this is certainly not the nicest of circumstances to be greeting the new thread with, but it seems that cannot be helped.
Nevertheless - welcome to so many wonderful new ringbearers.

Regarding Ancalagon_the_Black. Well, frankly, I'm confused. But I do not believe that anyone could be so cruel as to set up such misinformation.
With regards to the AMMM thread, it is important to note that Barrow-Wight did not have the underscores - so quite possibly he was referring to a separate username to the one we are mourning. There is an Ancalagon the Black on TORC, as Barad-dur pointed out during some of the confusion surrounding the death of Ancalagon_the_Black.

As for The Tale, well... I don't know. I'm confused as to why someone would state so implicitly that he was killed - someone who knew him relatively well, if there was any doubt about the matter. yet I'm also confused as to how someone can have a conversation with someone who is supposably dead.
The only post I was able to find by that username, was here:
http://thetale.lunarpages.com/messageboard/viewtopic.php?p=755&highlight=ancalagon#755
That username was started on August 12th, and has only made the one post. A sick joke perhaps? I don't know.
I just don't know.
I am hoping that perhaps the coma was misinformation - or perhaps he was in a coma and then died. If Ancalagon_the_Black really was alive and posting in The Tale, then I cannot believe that the news has not reached TORC prior to this - I know several TORCers who post there, and one who is even a moderator. I'm sure they would have said something.
And while it sounds cruel to hope that someone is dead, when you have come to accept the concept that someone is never returning, it's a whole nother challenge to accept that the hurt, the mourning, has been over something that never happened.

lotrgrrrl made her way outside to the gardens, wanting to be by herself. Green branches reached out consoling fingers to her, but she pushed past, pushed them aside.
There was a pain deep inside her, eating away at her soul. Painful memories, memories of loss. Pain of possible cruelty that twisted itself up in confusion.

Tears stained her face. So many tears.

Ithilmîr darkened, clouded with grey. lotrgrrrl just kept walking, knowing that the ring would magnify her mood, inflict it upon others.

And she wouldn't wish this feeling upon anybody.

* lotr_grrrl *
~Member of the extensive family of Vana & B25
~Weilder of Ithilmîr, the Moon Ring of Moods
~We’ve overthrown the Kings! Yes, I was reading around, adn now I'm very confused. Does anyone know what's going on? I know Barad-Dur had said that there were two Anclagon's, but what happened to which? *is seriously confuzzled*

Lord sat on his knees in the garden, the many different flowers that can be found in Arda, whether they were elven or human, were all around him. The flowers went very far in each direction, like a ripple that comes from a falling rock into a pond. As a fact, Lord himself was gazing into the pond around which the garden had been planted. Under normal circumstances, Lord would be telling himself how good-looking he was,(just kidding) but now was farthest from being normal. He was slightly leaned over the shore of the bank, lightly skidding his finger along the surface of the pond. The crumbs of Galadriel's great cake still around his mouth. ( YAY CAKE).

"Water is so unique," thought Lord, " surely, there was nothing else quite like it under this, and whatever other sky was found over where Man went when he faded from time."

He didn't allow himself to stray from his first thoughts. He must decide what to do. War remains one of the world's greatest enemies, but yet it was also one of the oldest. What side should he bear arms for, or should he at all. The last thing he wanted was to inflict harm. * The sapphire on his ring started to make a light hum, and glow a light baby blue, yet Lord still took no notice as of yet.* However, some ideals were worth fighting for. He felt that feeling of grieve that he had come to welcome in the last few days. The ring had that effect on him. He was thankful for it now. The wisest emotion is that of sadness, for it follows and learns from all life's hard lesson. He glanced around the garden, making sure no one was near, when he caught the glowing of his ring from the corner of his eye. Lord stood, thinking he was finally going to be a spectator to what his ring had hidden from him so far.

Suddenly, he heard light stepping close by. He wasn't alarmed. Only friends could be found here. But still, he was a solitude-prone person. He greatly needed to be alone. This need was increased by the glowing of his ring.

He lowered himself into the rising flowers, trying his best to make himself unseen, like the rangers of Lorien were so good at doing. He saw the lovely Gwen going through the garden, obviously attracted to natures beauty in it's prime state, as Lord was. She rubbed her ring, and Lord felt a wave of sorrow hit him from her direction, like the first seabreeze of the day.

As Gwen carried on her way, Lord stood. When the sorrow had come, Aniero (what Lord liked to call his ring), had shone bright, just as the stars of Varda sometime do during cloudless nights. Now, unforunately, Aniero was it's usual dark blue.

Lord was a little disappointed, but now he knew a little more of his ring. He needed to talk to someone about this War of the Rings. And perhaps, in doing so, he could finally unleash the power of his new ring, whatever that was to be...

I seem to remember a post where someone, I had thought it was Gwen, walked into the garden. I briefly looked and couldn't find it.
Well, I hope you don't mind me making you walk thorugh the garden Gwen, I will double check next time.

Wonderful!

I'm sure your ring will show it's true power to you soon. You just have to be ready and willing to let it happen. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0> We'll be rooting for you when it does!

There was a slight shimmer beside Lord before Istari appeared suddenly, a grey cloak draped over his elven form. Slender vines, white as pearl were sewn upon the edges of the cloth shining eerily in the dim light. He rested his hand upon the new Ringbearer's shoulder. Turning him about with a start.

Hello, Lord. You have chosen a fine place for contemplation...

He raised his head, allowing the hood of his cloak fall back, revealing his locks of red-gold hair to the sunlight. A bemused smile rested on Istari's lips as he led Lord back towards the water, light shimmering off its glassy surface. Dragonflies flitted over it, lightly touching down upon the water, sending ripples across its surface. Oh, how the water's beauty smote his heart...

The water is a beautiful thing indeed is it not? I have always felt a bond to it, ever since I was young. I see much of me within you, Lord. So confused and lost... yet so rational and focused. You worry much about your ability and strengths. Yet I know that in time, you shall come into your power quite gracefully. You have much still to learn...

****RING ACTION****

Ouroboros, Istari's Life Ring erupted aglow in golden light. It was a soft light, illuminating the blossoms in a way to make them seem as if lightly gilded. The water itself was alive with gold, a slight breeze bringing waves to its once stagnant surface. A wave of his hand drew the water from itself, forming stands thinner than spiderwebs that wove about themselves in a strangely seductive dance. The gold of the lake receded into the strands, making them seem like threads of the precious metals. Their pattern soon formed the shape of a maiden, a golden gown draped across her form and with a fiery aura about her. Bared, slender feet danced over the water, touching the blue with gold as she wove her body though the air. Slowly, she made her way towards the two of them, every step the most fluid form of art known to mortal beings. At last, she stood before them, her golden hair floating as if by an unknown breeze, her gown glinting in the sunlight as if it were metal. Her tawny eyes stared deeply into Lord's own, boring into his very soul. After many long moments of silence, she smiled and reached out with a pale, slender hand to touch Lord's cheek lightly. A warmth seemed to flow into his face, allowing for a golden tint to alight in his eyes. With a light giggle, she grew bright with golden light until she was no longer a maiden, but a great fire before them. Then, shapeless, she floated into the air, exploding in a flurry of sparks, raining down upon them both like raindrops.

****END RING ACTION****

You worry at which side you should take, Lord, in the battle that is to come. Look within your heart. It should tell you what you need to know.

And with another shimmer, Istari was gone.

Indeed that was a story woven well LordWood! Nice to read you here and glad your taking time to feel out your Ring....

Hail Istari i am still entranced by the magical Maiden that Ourobous created! So whispy , but powerful indeed she was! For me, The water's reflection is hypnotizing, in late evening, when the moon shines against it...Its a moment of naturous enlightenment!! <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-rolleyes.gif"border=0><img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-rolleyes.gif"border=0>

There is a Room here which ALL may enjoy for your respite and Ring recollection! Its a room created by a pwerful Water Ring - perhaps a trip inside will give you deep perception! Here is a decscript of it

ÔÔÔÔÔÔÔÔÔÔ RING ROOM ÔÔÔÔÔÔÔÔÔÔ

Leoba - The Water Ring of Hidden Depths "Gaeros"
The Fantastical Romanesque Room and More!

Leoba stood up and brushed the ash off her new green dress. She realised it had been a mistake to attempt creativity whilst wearing anything which could be considered decent. As usual, her quill had run away with her and she had spent many more hours than had initially been intended sprawled on the floor next to the fire, filling reams of parchment with her tidy script. Hoping that she didn’t look quite as unkempt as she felt, and hoping that her ink-stained fingers might go unnoticed, Leoba tucked the loose tendrils of hair behind her ears and went to submit her entry to the contest.

************************* BEGIN ENTRY ************************

The entrance is a Romanesque archway with many-columned-pillars on either side, each carved with tendrils of climbing plants and flora. As the tendrils wend their way up, they meet with myriad fantastical creatures; griffins, slender unicorns, eagles, noble centaurs and a small cat-sized dragon.

Passing through the arch, you step into a soft and thick rug, spread from wall to wall, and dyed the delicate pale-green hue of budding leaves. To the right and on either side of the entrance, at the edges where the rug meets the inlaid wooden floor, the walls are lined with solid oak bookcases filled with works of history, literature, music and art. At intervals, they are set with iron holders, filled with beeswax candles. In the far corner, between the windows on the opposite wall and the right hand bookcase, is a spiral staircase, carved from oak with designs of intricate tracery and leading up to a minstrels’ gallery above the right-hand wall. There are seated 24 musicians, playing guittern, lute, recorder, fiddle, tambourine, bells, nakers and tabor. On the floor below stands a solid desk, spread with papers and brimming over with half-drafted writings. More books are piled up to the side of the chair.

The focus of the far-left wall is a deep ingle-nook fireplace, brick-built with the warm colour of Tuscan earth. It draws you in, with the ironclad hearth in the centre, seats set back in either side, facing the fire and a pot of hot-chocolate nestling close for warmth. The surrounding tapestried-wall, in hues of green and blue and gold, depicts themes from ancient tales; King Arthur and Excalibur, Taliesin the Bard and the legend of Cuchulainn. Huddled close are two enveloping leather armchairs with large feather-filled cushions, embroidered to match the wall-hangings.

The eyes are irresistibly drawn to the pair of large almost floor-to-ceiling windows, directly opposite the entrance. The bright sunlight of a spring-morning pours in, drowning you in its caress as you gaze out across purple moorland dotted with stars of yellow gorse. Beyond the distant cliffs can be heard the moan of the sea as waves dash themselves again and again against the cruel rocks.

***RING ACTION*** The sound of the ocean roused ”Gaeros”, the Water Ring of Hidden Depths, from slumber. It twisted around and around on Leoba’s middle finger, in response to the call of the sea. Bending all her will towards the ring, Leoba felt ”Gaeros” lose its silvery sheen and glow dark blue as if from within. An indescribable feeling of peace began to course through her veins and pervaded her entire body before spreading outward and filling the whole room. The quality of light changed and she was basked in the mystical sheen of sunlight filtered through the surface of the sea. http://www.geocities.com/divesnaps/PO/OP13.htm She took a deep drawn breath, inhaling the taste of the air which was reminiscent of the sea breeze on a summer’s day. ***END RING ACTION*****

ÔÔÔÔÔÔÔÔÔÔÔÔÔÔÔÔÔÔÔÔÔÔÔÔÔÔÔÔÔ

Enty Smiles<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>

no word on the Anc thing??? im still puzzled with the rest of you!

Aramel smiles. It's time to use her ring.

RING ACTION

Aramel lifts her left hand high over her hand, and focuses her mind on the ring. A wonderful Ring Action, Aramel. Have you ever considered joining the Bard's Guild? It seems as if you have enough talent to join.

Hello everyone!

Lord--no problem about walking through the gardens. If would certainly be likely to find Isilmë/Gwen enjoying the beauty of the flowers.

I'd love to post a RA right now, but I am on the library's computer, as my monitor chose last night to shoot sparks into my living room. Nice, huh? Anyone got a Chaos Ring of Sparking Computer Monitors? So I might not be on too much for the next week or so, until we get a temp. replacement.

Namárië!
~Sil

Postby Léanë » Wed Aug 27, 2003 12:52 pm

Léanë was disappointed to hear that the Ring she had chosen was so similar to another. But she did not worry about it for long. Instead, she smiled and thanked Istariquendi for considering her request, and said, “I shall just have to think of another Ring, I suppose.” She walked around the AHUR for a while, thinking hard. And suddenly she realised what Ring she should request. She turned towards the Master Ring Holders and said, “Since I cannot have the Air Ring of the Spirit Wind, I request the Air Ring of the Shadow Storms, and I name it Huinë.”

Léanë
Shieldmaiden of Rohan
Daughter of the Shadows
Child of the Blue Moon
Journeyman Bard

Indeed, it is a pleasure, Léanë, to see you again. I had thought that the news of our inability to grant you your request had discouraged you from joining! Now let us see if we can't find you your Ring! <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>

Istari waved open the chest, the many Rings floated out toward him, circling him in a colored embrace. I think if you wish to adopt, you merely go to the Adoptions forum, pick a thread and post your credentials.(They go into more detail) It's much like a classifieds, at least of what I know. They can probably tell you more.

I noticed that right underneath our thread on the messageboards, there was another, The AMMM Federation, whos latest reply was from a Ancalagon_the_Black...

Hopefully, he is indeed still alive. Maybe he will visit this thread soon.

My birthday is on the 31st (Sunday), so I won't be able to post from early Friday to late Monday. I hope not to miss too much while I'm gone.

Well, I'm not sure that your hope will be realized. A weekend in TORC time is often an Age...
