Halloween rehearsal? Wazzat? We had a Halloween concert in my orchestra, and we all dressed up. You would not believe how many people asked me if my pointed ears were real. I felt very complimented, but ...real?? <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>

~Sil

Hehe real? Coolies!! What kind of makeup are you using on them? (So I know what I should get <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif"border=0>)

And Tari, anything is possible... never name that well from which you will not drink... my friend Stephanie has the curliest hair I have ever seen on anyone. It's half down her back when pulled straight but it's only to her chin when it's normal... and she can get it straight. It takes her three hours, though... <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif"border=0>

Hey, Lith!! It looks great!! <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0> Pull up a chair and a sewing machine (commandeer-free).

Luthy- all I used was very light foundation that actually matched my skin colour pretty closely. I'm planning on wearing a t-shirt, jeans, and pointed ears to school on Halloween. Bwah. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>

~Sil

Hi, Lithtaur and Donernilwen!!
Lithtaur, the costume looks good~
Don, I actually just completed my Shieldmaiden dress... if you go back a page or two, there's a link to the piccies. My number one hint- just try to alter a storebought pattern. I tried to draw mine out from a historical costume pattern book, which made it the biggest pain in the butt I've ever sewn. And for the sleeves, I put in some elastic on the top part to help them keep their shape better (there's cords tied around that part of the sleeve that hides it.) I made the sleeves in two parts so that I could put the slit where I wanted it and no seams would show in the hanging part. If you have any other questions, let me know!!
~smor

Hi,
Thanks for the tips ! I really like your dress.
I think I might take a little break after this though. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0>
The beading alone has taken me three weeks (and I wouldn't say I'm a begginer)!
I just have a few little details left then I'm all done. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>
I will try to post some pics. later.
Talk to you later!
-Donernilwen
Bwhahaha! I got some Elf Ears and wore them and my cloak to school today! And then I ran around to my friends and jumped up and down saying "I'm an elf! I'm an elf!" (we weren't supposed to wear costumes today, but so far I have not been caught and only one more period to go! Woohoo!)

Lucky! I wanted to go around wearing my ears so bad, but I had to teach today so I had to be "professional." Being an adult (well, technically) sucks sometimes. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif"border=0> But at least I get to go to a party tonight!! (One of my friends and I are both going as Eowyn, which will be really funny.)
I made it through the day without getting in trouble! And like 5 or 6 people who saw my ears commented on the fact that the look so realistic. It is amazing what you can do now with make-up these days...<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>

I can't do a thing with make-up, as I don't know the difference between eyeliner and lipstick....well, maybe I'm not that bad, but u get the idea. Bwah.

I'd put pictures up, but I don't have a digital camera... My dad is shopping for one, but I'm not sure it will be a camera or a video-camera, so we'll see. No one wants to see me anyway.

I went and designed a leather Aragorn-type coat for a character in my story, and then decided I wanted it, so that's my next big project. I looked for patterns today, and was surprised at the lack of patterns I found, although a few in Vogue looked promising. If I have to make this one up, I'll go in...wait, already am.

Ooooh, beading. Pain in the neck. I'd love to see the dress when you get those pictures up! (If you have them loaded, you could always just email them. *hint hint* heheheh)

~Sil

I entered the shieldmaiden dress that the pictures were from.
I've also made a random elf dress, and several years ago I made the angel dress from the more recent version of Romeo and Juliet. That's about it though. I have a couple other ideas for things to make, but I have a bunch of other projects to finish right now, mainly of the clothing variety. Oh yeah, and that school thing. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>

I was so upset on Friday...I wore my Eowyn costume, and a couple of my friends and I decided to go over to the nearby student center to get free food. I got a non-alcoholic strawberry daquiri, drank it before I left, and somehow as we were walking to the party we were going to, got daquiri spots on one of my (of course white) sleeves. (The strange thing was, it was the opposite sleeve from the hand I was holding the empty cup with.) One of my friends helped me scrub it out a bit while we were there, then we left the party early and went back to her house and I was able to use her stain treatment, so I think it's gone (or at least not noticable) now. But it was very upsetting to think I would maybe have to redo one of the sleeves.
