Well I feel like a failure. Seems that Brittany did enjoy attacking China and started doing it in ways that China could not get away. China was getting so scared she would not come out of the bedroom again. Brittany attacked with no provocation by China and was ripping her up. She now has a cut above her right eye and across her nose from two separate attacks. Then I came home from work on Tuesday and Brittany had worked her way out of the bathroom and attacked China at least twice while we were at work. There was China's hair everywhere. It was all over the front room and all over my bed. China was under the bed and would not come out. When I finally got her out she had already wet all over herself. She was still shaking. Brittany was in the front room like nothing had happened.

I called the shelter where we got her and returned Brittany yesterday. If I could not keep her confined then I could not protect China and I was not going to do this again. China will be an only cat from now on.

The shelter said they would give us a credit for another cat and it is good for 6 months if we wish to try again by then. NO THANKS!! I wont do that to China again. She just does not fight back

Anyways I feel like a failure cause I could not provide a way for the two of them to get the time to work it out and keep them safe at the same time.

Aww, Vana, I'm so sorry to hear that. But at least now you know. It's hard when the cat who should be the alpha won't stand up for itself. And maybe her passivity is what spurs on the efforts of the other cats. I thought she was showing some spunk there, but I guess it's better that she's an only cat.

Yeah she is doing so much better tonight. She is snuggling up with her daddy. She is out in the front room and enjoying her evening with us. Life is peaceful again.

What about a male kitten? When my friend's cat died and the other one was pining away, the vet said to get a kitten of the opposite sex and they'd get along. It's working very well.

Yeah that was suggested to us for if and when we decide to try getting her another friend. I don't think that she would need the aggravation just to find out that it does not work again. So she shall remain the only animal in the house.

Snow-Snow is fine!
Apart from being 16 years old, she's fine.

We brought Jinxie home today, too.

I got China a new friend. I bought a betta fish and she loves watching it. She is mesmerized by it. Its a beautiful teal and royal blue male betta. He sits on top of my desk by the computer and she can see it from her perch. I put it down on the floor when I first got it all set up so she could sniff it and look up close at it. I have even asked her what we aught to name him. She likes watching it and has made no effort to disturb him when we are gone. I finally found her a pet she gets along with. ;) :D

Yes I think it might be. I am going to get him a bigger tank already. I found one that is a half moon shape that is tall enough to put in a castle for him. Got to love the medieval theme I can do there. ;) It will also give him a place to hide if he wishes too. Also some pretty jewels for on the bottom of the tank. He is so well behaved and hasn't once jumped China when she was not looking. She is happy and content.

Oreo's the pork thief here. He stole bacon off my plate from under my arm when he was a kitten, and even now he tries to fish something off a plate if he likes the smell, and he's a pork junkie. Tonight, for instance, I was sitting here at the computer eating a plateful of sausage, peppers and onions, and there was this paw tentatively batting at the rim of my plate--often. So I cut off a tiny piece of sausage and offered it to him. He licked it several times, then backed off and licked his chops thoroughly. Surprise--it was hot Italian sausage! :D But at least he tried.

Over in Dog Lovers, I posted about a friend of mine's family's four pets of some years ago, and the meat left on the dining room table...

When I was a teenager we had a black and white kitteh named Fabian.
Fabian was a sneak thief, but only for donuts.

Yes, donuts...

My mother caught him sitting on the kitchen counter that was just a tad behind the fridge where she had put the bag of donuts. He was sitting there looking very innocent while his front paw was digging in the bag.

When his claw snagged the donut, he slammed it into his mouth and flew off the counter and out of the kitchen.

Awhile later Mom found what was left of the donut.
It was the crunchy part that was around the hole.
It became a joke in the family that the cat ate all but the hole.

From that day on, Mother got a bakers dozen of donuts.
One for each kid in the family plus one for the cat.

 That was great! You never know what cats will turn out to like.

Mackie, when he was a kitten, liked junk food. We could never open a bag of chips or corn curls without him materializing in front of us, making lots of noise. I never knew a cat to eat junk food except him. Oreo sticks to actual food, mostly cat food (except for pork, he's rather iffy about people food), but we discovered he does like beef jerky. Evidently he likes smoked meats!

There was that evening a year or two ago (Mackie was still a kitten, I think) when I walked into the living room to see hubby sitting on the couch with one cat on each knee, Oreo eating beef jerky and Mackie eating cheese crackers. That was a real departure for Oreo, who hadn't jumped into hubby's lap since his own kittenhood!

My daughter always did her homework on her bed while listening to her music. she enjoyed having snacks from time to time with her while she did her work. One time she took a brand new bag of Oreo cookies in the room with her. She had opened the bag and had it on the bed next to her. While she was entranced with some homework she thought she heard a noise so she looked about the room from where she was laying on her bed. She saw nothing. After a while she reached for a cookie and the bag was gone. She found it on the floor with our 22 pound cat nose deep in the bag eating cookies. Buddie was a cat with a sweet tooth. :D

I forgot to tell you that my mother would leave the bag open so Fabian would still be able to 'steal' his donut.

The cat I had years ago, my white longhair Mici, loved grape stems. I found that out the same way your daughter did, Vana: I was on the bed reading and not paying any attention till I heard a rustling sound, and looked to see Mici batting at the plastic wrap holding the denuded stem from a bunch of grapes I had recently finished off. She was chewing on the pulpy ends, and getting friskier by the minute, till she threw the stem up in the air and had a grand old time, far into the night, chasing that stem-bunch around.

After that I always saved her the stems; they did for her what catnip never did. When I lived upstairs from a friend, my friend was packing up some goodies from her mother's house after a visit and had her mother wondering why she was wrapping up a large denuded grape bunch stem...

When we bait them to get what they want because we make it attainable such as leaving the bag for the donuts open for them then we are the ones in charge and letting them think they are. But most of the times they are! :roflmbo:

May have gotten some good news today...Monday and especially late yesterday afternoon and during the evening Okun was really lethargic and not doing good. Finally, around 9 I put some Kero syrup on his lips and that seemed to help, he perked up a bit, but he still slept with me all night. This morning he didn't want to eat but then did eat a little bit, then threw up some. So I called the vet.

He called me back a little while ago and we talked over the symptoms and he said that cats can be transient diabetics...that is, they can be diabetic for a while, and then get better. How about that? So we're cutting back from 4 units twice a day to three units twice a day! :happydance:
