Freezing in NY State??? wooo-hooo!! Fall is one the way! Can't wait!!

We are having cool days here too: rain and in the 60's (F). If nothing else, the grass is going to grow a lot. And the weeds.

------

Any ideas for our next trip? No place with hurricanes, floods, earthquakes, etc, thank you..... ;)

31? I am guessing that F. Are leaves changing colour yet?

I  bay windows. They are so purdy. Especially if they have seats with them. I once boarded at a lady's place for college and had a window seat bay window in my room.

Team Tooks! sounds great!!! :yippie: well it's close toa cheerleader.

Well, so far, it's 50/50 as to whether I'll work the weekend or not. If the new cook feels she can handle it, then I don't have to go in. I'm not so sure she's ready to go on her own, but that's not for me to decide.
She's coming into the kitchen from the floor. Last weekend, she was suppose to train both days, but both days people called in and she had to do part of the shift as a Residential Aide.
Very hard to learn a new position when you are forced, by outside forces, to do your old position.

YEA, TOOKS!!!
Go you...
Hope your team does marvelously!!!

nl... You have the short-timer jitters, eh? I'm sure you'll knock 'em dead at your new job.

GW... Now I know why I don't live in your neck of the woods. I love bay windows. Any pictures you can share?

Hmmm, where to go next?
Not real sure, but can we go somewhere sunny and warm?
Oooo, maybe take a cruise through the Panama Canal.
Always wanted to do that.

*As the day turns to twilight, a distinct hum can be heard outside the home of Ambassador Sarek. Peering out all can see a tall form in the center of the garden holding a scimitar. The Vulcan circles the weapon above his head then holds it before him for a moment before repeating the action. After doing this four times, he lowers the weapon and lays it upon a stone bench then waits his opponent.*

Leaves changing color?
Oy. Tis only mid-August after all. Temps will be back in the 90s in a few days. Unfortunately. :P

Wenchie, the bay window will be nice. 'course, you'll have to find some nice plants to put out in front of it. ;)

Hope it works out for both of you, Calma! Sounds like the new person isn't afraid to learning new stuff. She should work out great.
As for the Panama Canal...hmmm...
It's kinda close to all the hurrican stuff, yet still dry. Perhaps we could venture down there for a trip. Take a cruise. If bad weather comes, we could always make our escape in the TVM.

Here's some more popcorn, Tooks...

Awww, what a cute baby, Scribbles!

We had a huge thunderstorm today that caused all kind of damage. Except at my work, for a change - everything worked all the time.

And, fortunately, it hasn't affected my home Internet connections either. 8)

Arrrrr this can't be. We bin a huntin fer rum fer months, when alluva sudden up comes this here vulcan who blindly points to a spot ion the map, an we strike it rich. How kin dis beee?

Quite simply captain, I examined the problem from all angles, and it was plainly hopeless. Logic informed me that under the circumstances, the only logical action would have to be one of desperation. Logical decision, logically arrived at.

Well, ya got me beat by 2 days. The most I've done in a row is 33.
In a week, I've only done 60 hours. So, you have the hat on that one.

beastie caught the Scribe before she could hit the floor and gently placed her in the crook of his arm so she could sleep soundly, rocking her slowly, out of reach...with no annoying Holby's or oldish Toby's or even tight pants wearing captain's could get to her.

Scribbles opens one eye, yawns and then stretches . . .

WOOOOOPS!!

nearly topples to the ground and is saved by the fast reflexes of Beastie . . . Scribbles grins at the scaly monster . . .

Beastie, have I told you lately that you're my very favourite fell beast? :D Remind me to bring you back something special next time I'm in Gondor, like maybe a Captain of the Guard or two for you to terrorize . . . ;)

slides down the foreleg Beastie holds out for her, lands smartly and flicks her cloak back over both shoulders . . .

Well now, I'm rested and raring to go.

She salutes the tall Ambassador, who has arrived to check on his guests. My most heartfelt apologies for keeping you waiting, Ambassador. I do hope that you will forgive my extreme bad manners. So, the garden? Anytime you're ready, just lead on! . . . ;)

6 days nl! You must be getting very, very excited! Don't worry, the transition will go off without a hitch and in a few weeks, you'll chuckle and wonder why you were so nervous. :D:D:D

I've never worked more than 21 days straight, at least not that I can recall. I'm pretty sure I'm a total wuss compared to the rest of you, I remember working over two weekends straight during a huge and very important Data Load, but that's about it . . .

"So who's taking bets???" nl said, grabbing some of beastie's popcorn.

*The suns were just rising as Vulcan solemnly nodded to the tall swords-woman. "No apology necessary, Scribe. All must be about their livelihood and partner." Lifting his scimitar from its place on the wall, he led the way to the center of the garden, nicking a small handful of popcorn on the way. “I acquired the taste from my wife.” He casually explained as they came to a stop in the large area. “Will this suit our purposes, Scribe?” he asked. When she nodded, he finished the small amount of popcorn and took up his position in the center of the area.

Amanda joined the TVM’ers and smiled as she helped herself to Beastie’s treat. "I've been looking forward to this since you all arrived. My money's on my husband." She winked at notlistening.*

nl.. I know what you mean. I need the weekend, too. A week to go, eh? Bet you can't wait to start your new job. :D I'll be pulling for you to knock them on their butts....

Might be on a short moment this afternoon, but the evening is going to be busy. Try to remember it's a sparing match, not a duel. And really, Scribe is the better of the two, and Sarek is merely improving his skills against one who is more experienced.

Anyone seen Rowan lately?

FRIIIIIIIIIIDAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYY!!!!!! AAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!1111oneonene

*ahem* Okay, I'm over it now. :D:D:D

Work was very, very busy this week, but very, very steady. I was so chuffed when the test lead approached me and mentioned that he thinks I should be on the promotion list after this project and that he's willing to do whatever's necessary to see that happen. ooooo . . . all that reading, reading, reading and learning, learning, learning might just have been worth it, LOL! Ah well, we'll see.

Hang in there rowan, but if a move is in the cards, I'm rooting for ya! :) And you're MC'ing MoMe this year?!! HUZZAH!!!! I just know you'll be fab. :) must think of suitable bribes . . .

:hihi: to all the TVM'ers!

The Scribe sketched a bow to the Lady Amanda and then followed Sarek to the center of the garden. She nodded with a smile at his question . . .

"It will suit perfectly, Ambassador," she answered. "And may I take the opportunity to compliment you on a magnificent garden, the layout is most . . . pleasingly logical," she added with a wink.

As Sarek took his position, she drew the long, rune-etched broadsword from it's sheath with a silvery rasp and took but a quick moment to test the razor sharp edge. Satisfied, she saluted Sarek with the flat of her blade, then dropped into a loose en garde. "Shall we, as they say, have at it?" she asked with a smile. Sarek nodded and the game was afoot.

They traded blows, thrusts and parries for long minutes, each testing the mettle of the other and enjoying the chance to simply exercise their skills. One particularly clever move on the Ambassador's part sent one of the Scribe's eyebrows climbing high as she was forced to change direction rather abruptly to parry. "I see you've been practicing . . . most impressive Ambassador," she remarked with a grin, then stepped up the pace and very slowly began to back Sarek towards a low, prickly sort of hedge.

The sound of munching popcorn increased dramatically . . .

Tooks gasped as Sarek countered Scribbles' attempt to back him into a hedge. He skillfully turned the tables, and soon it was the Scribe who a thorn in her backside. She began to wonder if a duck and roll was called for.....

.....Tooks suddenly was hungry for an egg roll with duck sauce. She wondered if the Vulcans had Chinese take-out....

:lmbo: :lmbo: Tooks!

Scribbles parried fiercely, narrowly escaping a second encounter with the prickly bush and working the Ambassador back to the center of the garden . . .

"Make mine a spring roll with black bean sauce!" she called out . . . right before she slipped on a banana peel. Thinking that cheating was highly unlike the Ambassador, she watched with some amusement as he too, found his footing unstable due to the unexplained appearance of nectarine peelings . . .

"Q!!" she bellowed. "Knock it off or I'll knock a few more of your teeth loose!"

As the Ambassador lost his footing and his arms flailed about in an ungainly manner, his sword flew into the air then with a resounding fffwomp, he landed on his southern end. For a moment, he was stunned then he blinked and looked to the offending nectarine peelings. Then to the surprise of all he started to laugh.

He rolled to his feet and with an extended hand offered to aid the tall Elf to her feet. “You would be well advised to see to that thorn, Scribe, they tend to burrow into the skin and it then becomes very difficult, as well as painful, to remove.” He released her hand and stepped back. “A draw then?” he asked, a twinkle hiding in his dark eyes. “With a rematch at another time.”

Amanda stood and brushed the popcorn kernels from her lap. "There are no Chinese joints here, but we have comparable food right down the street. And they don't allow fools who are so stupid they can only spell their name if it has one letter. My treat." she grinned as she lead the way from the garden.

I have a whole day off....

Whatever shall I do with it?

Eeewwww...
Laundry.
