My younger sister would keep the wheel in a death grip while I was teaching her how to drive, which made turns an adventure because she would not shift her hands at all as she turned, which makes the entire thing next to impossible.

You know, I learned to drive mainly by observation.

I take it your sister isn't very observant?

Well, as long as you all drive so that you don't crash...

Sheesh, I'm tired today. I slept badly last night, and had a lot to do at work. I'll probably crawl to bed very early this evening.

My hands get really sore if I don't have them both on the wheel. :| I'm not really sure why. But if I just have one, that one gets really sore and I have to switch and then they're BOTH really sore.

But if I have both, they don't get sore. B^

I don't have PCE!!!! :D:D:D:D

I actually learned by observation - ever since I first allowed to sit in the front seat I would studiously watch the driver, so I had all the mechanics down pat the first time I ever sat down behind the wheel.

My sister, however, does NOT observe very well, and occasionally I would drive and make her watch me, and she would keep looking away out the window when she was supposed to be watching what I was doing.

However, I did, at last, convince her of the proper method of turning, and she's gotten much better at it.

Luthy - I know it was weird watching you drive and always kept both hands on the wheel even when we were on the highway! 0_o I was going to ask you about it or make a joke and then wondered if it would be rude and then I kinda forgot about bringing it up.

So we are on driving today?

Hello all on the PCE thread. We are close to 40 left before I need to make a new one, I would think tomorrow...so look for the new thread, with a slight title modification.

Hope to see you all there as well, because we all know...

Oh still talking driving.....cool :)

I learnt by Bruce telling me what to do....it was quite daunting actually cause he is of the opinion that in order to drive well you must be able to do lots of different things while driving, so he was constantly saying to me things like....wind down the window, change the music, wind up the window, grab the phone, get that drink and take a sip...all while driving :D
Good thing is now I can turn around and do stuff and keep a good feel for the car and surroundings, instead of careening off the road or across the middle line like other people when they try and do stuff :D:D

I'm pretty sure my dad has you beat.

My dad can drive at 70 MPH in bumper to bumper traffic in a rainstorm, adjust the radio, sip coffee, and carry on a conversation with you (the passenger) while looking at your face nearly the entire time, only occasionally glancing away to check on the road and scream obscenities out the window at other drivers.

He's the best driver I've ever seen.

kinda makes me wonder what the obscenities are for, perhaps because they are tooting at him or something  :D

Bruce actually bumped a car out of his way on the motorway once cause it was driving too slow

That would terrify me. I'd constantly be yelling at him to watch where he was driving.

.....though I would like to see 70mph bumper-to-bumper traffic. People here apparently aren't that talented.

Glad your amused at my expense :P :D:D

Actually i should be flattered i suppose, it's like when i get asked for ID (yes still) when I buy alcohol at the supermarket. I am 9 years older than the age limit to ask, (we have signs that say if you look 25 you will be asked for ID) so if I look 25 i guess thats a good thing :)

Hi Gwyn darlin'...:D:D great to see you!! I no longer drive like a crazy person, well never did. But now I would like to see a few more years, so it is slow and steady. I do the speed limit, but I don't speed.

Tyg, well, you two can post out the thread tonight/day, I will start the new one tomorrow anyways...just so we all have the home to go to when we visit :D:D *sigh* Man this thread went to 2K in like NO time.

No matter my age or theirs, a whistle is still a good thing in my book. ;)

How did you know? I also have a VERY old car, so I like to take it easy on her, she doesn't like me to make her work very hard. She is like me, ready to retire...so Nana driver it is...sorta proud of it actually. I will just sit back and LMBO knowing you will all be there eventually. :P

Let's not.

I'm actually a pretty careful driver, I rarely speed, obey the laws of the road, and say helpful things to the driver. Why, just a few minutes ago I successfully saved us from getting in a car wreck as I was being driven home from the movie theater.

And said traffic was in Houston. Drivers are crazy in Houston. Really.

It depends on whether the driver is competent or not.

Majority of the people I drive with are incompetent. Quite a few others are just fine, and I have no issues.
