We once made a delicious Moroccan dish and had a leftover mix of spices. I threw this into the next batch of hummus and it was great!

Hubby makes his own hummus. He used to burn out the little cheap food processors all the time mashing chickpeas until he got smart and bought a regular-sized good one.

Not really a hummus person, I have tried it a few times, but just didn't cotton to it much.

On the weekend. On Saturday I had intended to make lobster newburg, but changed it up to my own recipe. I first sauted some garlic and scallions lightly in olive oil then made a roux and cooked that down a bit, then added heavy cream to make the sauce. I added fresh nutmeg and cayanne to that with some salt and pepper of course. White wine and a bit of sherry.

Then I cut up a lobster tail and three shrimp and cooked it for about five minutes in the sauce and served it over penne. Fresh basil and parsley on the top. OH MY...it was SO good.

Yesterday. I had soup for supper.

What did you all have this weekend?

rwhen, you make me want to eat seafood! That sounds yummy.

Nothing special here this weekend, cooking-wise. We had a couple of graduation parties to attend, and with working on the house/yard.. we timed attending the parties so I didn't have to cook a meal.. thereby saving us some time. :D

The weather has turned windy & cool.. so today I think I will make some chili.

I always want to eat seafood. Rwhen, if we lived closer together I'd drop in on you! :D

Hubby made some awesome pancakes yesterday for brunch. We had blueberries in the house and we decided blueberry pancakes were a good idea. So he got creative, and used white flour, whole wheat flour, and cornmeal! They came out thicker than I usually like but were still moist enough, and they were hearty and delicious. I think one of us had better write this down!

Saturday night we were once again the guests of our single male friend who cooks so well. He made brisket that was essentially pot roast, and we darn near mopped his plates!

Rose, good timing on the parties. Don't get too comfortable with the cooler weather. We have very hot weather moving in today and will last at least through the whole week. That should start to hit you by mid to late week. Enjoy the chili. :D

Morwenna. You are welcome ANYTIME. The pancakes sound very good actually and so does the brisket. I ALMOST ordered a brisket from KC Steaks yesterday morning while watching In the Kitchen with David on QVC. It looked so good, but I have rent coming so I held back.

LOVE slow roasted meats and all the yummy juices that come from it. :D

Morwenna, those pancakes sound great. I took to adding coconut to mine. I have the slightly de-fattened kind from TJ, and adds that nice crunch. Blueberries never make it into pancakes in this house, we eat them so fast. :)

Frelga, I hear ya about the blueberries!! Hubby bought four pints a few days ago when they were on sale; I ate one pint in two sittings, the second pint was divided between the pancakes and my third sitting, and there are two pints left; and though he had some things he wanted to try out (recipes from Alton Brown), he might not get to unless he makes another grocery run!

OH! Blueberries! Raspberries! Strawberries! Cherries! OK.. so cherries are not berries but I loves them all! In my minds eye I see myself as a small hobbit lass gorging on berries.. with my face, hands and dress all stained... berry bucket nearly empty... ENORMOUS grin on my face...
*sigh*

I love blueberry pancakes. I sometimes make waffles with chopped apples & walnuts.. those are very good.

rwhen.. take care of yourself with that heatwave.

I'm welcoming the warm weather, I want to go to the beach! :D

And I'm totally the same Rose, if I could eat only fruits for every meal, I think I would do it.

I used to work with a guy from India whose diet was supposed to be pretty much limited to fruit (loosely defined) for religious reason. I don't think he was very strict about it, but it was interesting to see what he would choose when we went for lunch.

I love eating fruit!! I have an apple everyday for my lunch. I find that if I eat fruit for lunch then I don't need to eat much else for the afternoon. It is quite filling and a great fiber meal.

In the summer I crave melons and apples, peaches and pineapples. Probably cause you can get them fresh and they are plentiful.

Berries and cherries and grapes, oh my! :D I'm really a hobbit myself, despite the name, although a very tall one!

Hubby was up in time to make ne a bite of breakfast as I was getting ready, and he even packed my lunchbox. But he forgot to give me any yogurt or fruit! No blueberries, no banana, no yogurt (today would have been a strawberry or raspberry yogurt day). Oh well... I have noodle soup, leftover pasta all'oglio (the second batch, not the one I raved over a week ago!), and cheese crackers. But something's still very much lacking.

I pack my hubby's lunch. He usually gets 3 pieces of fruit.. a serving of veggies and two sandwiches or wraps. He doesn't have a microwave, so I don't usually send soup or casserole-type dishes unless it's cold.. like pasta salad. If he is working a long shift he also gets a cereal or fruit & oat bar. He used to also get cookies or chips on a regular basis, but as we've gotten older, we just can't take all those extra calories, so I don't bake as much as I used to. :(

Hello all you foodies!! Nice to see the thread move after I left.

Fruit *sigh* enjoy it with both hands everyone.

Last night was spaghetti, the real deal, from scratch. Yesterday while I was at work my brother made a huge vat of beef stew and I could smell it all day long. He has prepared a jar for me to take home tonight, so dinner is set for me. :D

Thanks Rose and Vanadarlin' (love ya right back my sweet sister 143  ). Today a warm 85, after that...four days of upper to mid 90's. *melts*

:hihi:

It's downright chilly here today. In the mid-60's. *brrr* It is overcast with HUGE dark clouds. We really need the rain, but we've had a lot of days like this so far this year.. rain potential, but little or no rain. So it is getting quite dry.

Stay cool (as always) Lady rwhen!

Why thank you Rose friend. I shall do my best. It is only 50 right now, so chilly. And that is the same thing that happened to us here, three weeks of humidity that was yucky, but the rain didn't come and we are very low too. Jim's lawn is almost brown and this time of year it is usually emerald green.

So what is for supper for you folks?

Chili dogs. YUM. I have some dogs in the freezer, Nathans. I could have that too...but after the yummy beef stew. :D

It is warming up little by little, heading for 85. But still it is chilly, my fingers are cold. :D I wore a sweater today, but it will be off by early afternoon.

Enjoy the dogs!!
