Frodo because originally his name was Bingo (bingo!?!) and Pippen had the name Frodo, but JRR thought better of such a dippy name and Frodo became our hero.

Frodo because I still get a headache trying to figure out which hobbit became which one and who were merged into one (in fact our Pippin was someone JRRT put together from two different hobbits as far as I can recall), Return of the Shadow is not a book for the fainthearted.
