Please add my sister...she's an elf hunter named Evanya.

I'll have my husband get his character going today and I'll let you know who he is.

Thanks motorwife!

As soon as we get Elladan's name and motorwife's husband signed on, and if someone could create one more alt to make sure (My Glibli is still in the beginner's area, so not sure he can join yet.....), I believe we can get this ball rolling! Here's what we have so far (I also welcome the inclusion of crafting information here):

1. Boffo: Hobbit Guardian - Armoursmith
2. Glibli: Dwarf Guardian - ?
3. Freoric: Human Captain - ?
4. Athelian: Human Guardian - ?
5. Elladan's character: Hobbit Burglar - ?
6. Evanya: Elf Hunter - ?
7. Gaal: Dwarf Champion

I will place this information in the initial thread and update it.

I'd like to introduce the kinship to my husband, Gaal, a dwarf champion. I realize that a dwarf/human marriage is unusual in Middle Earth but it's been working for us for the past sixteen years.

It's unlikely that we'd ever be wandering the paths of Middle Earth at the same time because when one of us is out questing, the other has to stay at home in Bree and care for our two children.

(and we only have one computer)

Looks great folks. :) I'll add these characters to my friend's list when I get into the game. Level 1s can get into the kinship the person just needs to be on to accept the invite.

Hail and well met Gaal! And hail to all of the others among us. :)

We definitely need a minstrel. We need the captain too, so the minstrel shouldn't be me, I guess. Perhaps Boffo should let Glibli get some time? Freoric's an explorer who's going to concentrate on tailoring, I think.

Amph,

There is always room for growth and expansion. In reality, I plan on using my alternate character sparingly (Glibli), and the character is already a guardian. That could change, of course. I could also create another character as a minstrel, but I want to be honest about the fact that, due to time and manageability and focus issues, I'd like to spend most of the time with Boffo. I may be on later. Around 7ish, perhaps.

However, I do agree that we need a Minstre, and it would be best for that minstrel to be someone's primary character.

So let's officially make that a call for Mintrels.

Oh--my mistake! I thought Glibli was a minstrel!

I guess my tone was off when I expressed the "need" for a minstrel. Obviously, we don't really need anything at all! Even if at some point we get into heavy questing, we can always pick up a spare minstrel off the byways of ME. Sorry to have sounded peremptory!

Ted ! Fantastic !

Regarding role playing...here's my two cents.

I really like the idea of roleplaying, HOWEVER, since I am brand new to both MMORPGs and roleplaying, I find the idea more than a little terrifying. I'm still learning the many intricacies of the game and worry about being able to keep up.

I think it should be an option, but not a requirement. If it was mandatory, it might scare some potential kinship members away.

Those who prefer to stay in character at all times should be welcome and encouraged to do so.

I plan on attempting to role play, but want to be able to back out of it at times.

motorwife,

Agreed. My initial parameters, set out in the first post in this thread, were for "light roleplaying." If people need help on game mechanics, there should not be undue pressure to keep quiet about it for fear of ruining immersion. Roleplaying is encouraged, but it is not enforced.

Question.

Does everyone need to receive an in-game invite in order to be allowed into the kinship? In other words, do I need 6 characters available all at once to set it up? I would be interested in purchasing a charter soon, and am not clear on the prerequisites for it.

Hey folks. I'm in and have added you to my friend's list. I have a hobbit burglar by the name of Falsco. :D

MM, yes you have to receive the Kinship invite in game. You have to have 6 characters in the kinship in a 24 hour period.

Ted, welcome. Looking forward to meeting you in game. :)

W00t! Freoric has a Rohirric companion!

Perhaps we should set up a time to get everyone together and charter the kinship? We could go to the Bird and Baby in Michel Delving to celebrate!

What's Theod's class?

I'm very interested in playing on Landroval with other members of TORC. I've been playing LOTRO for a week now and am getting hooked on the game. To continue, however, I'm going to need to purchase a more powerful PC as the one I have currently is below minimum standards. I suffer very badly from lag. Despite the lag I've been able to advance an Elf guardian to level 11 on the Vilya server. My goal is to make the trip to the House of Tom Bombadil before beta is over.

I've created two characters on Landroval. I played an Elf guardian to level 5 last night. His name is Luindir. I've thought that he could be the son of Elrohir. (I know Elrohir's family is never mentioned, but that gives me some artistic license to create one, right? ) I've also created a Human guardian of the people of Eorl but the lag in Archet is too bad for me to play so I've only completed the opening sequence. His name is Brockwine ("badger-friend"). :D

Well, apparently, you can buy the American version and play from Europe--but, obviously, you won't be able to play on the EU ervers.

I played a little with Luindir this evening. I've taken up the Armsman craft (weapon making), but don't know how much effort I'll devote to developing it. I also trained the basic skill in lute. However, I'm still looking for a lute to purchase so that I may practice. Eventually I'd like to be able to play the harp. My guess is that it is offered at a higher level.

Not really grasping the fact that invites to the kinship must be in realtime, I purchased a charter for 5 silver. If 6 players do not join in 24 hours, the kinship will dissolve, and I will presumably lose my money.....

Therefore, if you'd like to join, please be online on:

Sunday, April 15th Today!)

I will extend invites to the kinship "Servants of the Secret Fire" to all online. It is not possible to invite people unless they are online at the time, and I have 24 hours! So, see if you can remain logged in for a good portion of the day, and I will invite you as I see you.

Okay, I'll try to have Luindir on most of the day. I won't necessarily be at the keyboard, but I'll have him hang out in some safe place where the goblins won't jump him.

I sent Boffo, Glibli, and Freoric "tells" but you guys weren't online. I created an Elven mistrel, Curulinde. I just lagged out, but will log him back on. I'm going to be AFK for awhile as my wife and I are going to our niece's first birthday party. :)
