REGISTER HERE: Servants of the Secret Fire Roster thread

Postby Amphiaraus Bis » Wed Apr 18, 2007 3:48 pm

This is the more-or-less official (and indignant) roster of the Kinship. Please post in this thread, if you would, in the following form:

TORC name: Character: Race: Class: Current level: Vocation: Most reliable time to be in-game

For example:

Amphiaraus bis: Freoric: Man: Captain: 8: Explorer: Monday 9-12 Eastern

(Note that I'm using vocation instead of profession, because I think that as we get deeper into the game, we're going to be developing all three of the professions within our vocations, even if we're currently perhaps concentrating on just one.)

(Main characters are in boldface; a "D" after a character's name indicates that that character is a member of the Dreadnought Fellowship, which quests together regularly.)

If the hours seem a bit late it is because I live in the Pacific time zone.

Unlike when I played EQ several years ago, LOTRO will not fill all of the hours when I'm not eating, sleeping, or working. My wife and I watch a DVD after dinner one or two nights a week, and I also enjoy watching ice hockey and baseball on TV. I have chores to do on weekends, and sometimes my wife and I actually go places. :P

OTB, what's the vocation under which you have Weaponsmith? Armsman?

"Tom", please. (OTB sounds like something you'd purchase at the pharmacy.) :)

Yes, I believe it's called Armsman. Sorry, I couldn't remember the silly vocation name. Here's a link to the Crafting Vocation Chart if anyone is interested.

Here are my characters:

Falsco: Hobbit Burglar: Historian (Scholar-Weaponsmith-Farmer)
Brogo: Hobbit Minstriel: Explorer: (Prospector-Forester-Tailor)

Falsco is level 9, but I've only just created Brogo.

To any of you prospectors out there I could use bronze ingots, and any scholar or dyes (recipies or mats) I can use too. I'll make potions and dyes for all kinship members once I get the recipies and mats. :)

As far as times for me to play they will vary. Wednesday night from 10-midnight EDT seems to be a good time for me, and Monday nights as well. If there is an event scheduled at night EDT I can see about making that. :)

Shouldn't that be "Motorwife: Athelian: She-Man..."? :?

We know that Arwen was a She-Elf (at least according to the Black Riders in PJ's movie).

Boffo, my excellent short-legged (yet surprisingly fast-running) friend, did you want your leather-wont added to your roster entry in some fashion?

As, for example, "Boffo Dearthleather: Hobbit: Burglar."

Burglar? I'm a guardian! Or are you implying that I'm a thief?? Blasphemy! Out of the kinship!

But in seriousness, I think that's a handy idea. If we state what we need, and what our professions don't produce (as a prospector, I have no ability to turn skins into leather, but I can gather some serious ore!) then we can signal to everyone just exactly what people need, so that they can prepare for it.

Good idea. For that, I'll let you back into the kinship. Welcome!

And by the way, I welcome anyone with past experience in MMORG guild management to offer suggestions.

Currently, I like to think of myself as both the Founder and the Chief (and I will for quite a while), but I may eventually pass on my chieftan duties to someone younger and more robust. So be prepared!

I hope I don't get tossed from the Company again for this, but perhaps we should have a separate thread for crafting needs? I'm thinking of a parallel sort of affair, where the top post lists those who are actively engaged in crafting, and what their chief material needs are.

Putting yourself on the list would obligate you to trade circularly, and not sell to vendors anything another person on the list is seeking.

Example:

Freoric (Amph Bis): hides and ore to keep making ingots and leather
Boffo (GM): leather
Falsco (EE): bronze ingots

Thus, if you send me hides and ore, I'm obligated to send you ingots and leather, and you're also, as workers in the higher professions, obligated to send me either some of the items you craft, or a cut of the profits (to be negotiated later :D). Let me know if such a thread seems useful!

I think the thread would be very very useful. Since you're doing the class count thread, I can do the crafting one if you like. This would make it eaiser to keep up with who needs what for certain.

A sharing of the profits is going to be something we will have to look at, because right now with ore for example, the ore itself is valued more to a vendor then the ingots are. Weird. But we shouldn't be selling ore or ingots to a vendor, but passing them on to a kinship mate, or posting on the AH.

The problem arises with me with Falsco the Weaponsmith is that the ingots you send me I turn into blades, hilts, and then daggers, swords, or something like that. No one will buy these low level weapons, so they are just vendor trash, and they are cheaper than the ore. Again weird. :P

I'll get started on that crafting thread. :)

Sounds brilliant guys. This is the key to making a kinship not just fun, but very useful for gameplay. I am a prospector/ armoursmith, and will mine and craft as much as I can. To do this, I need lots and lots of leather. Put me on the list!

Are we supposed to post everytime we level up? If so this thread is gonna have a lot of posts! :P

Anyway, with a bit o' adventuring last night--poking goblins, wolves, and such--while running errands for a bunch of NPCs who'd rather just stand around makin' people do stuff for 'em, Curlinde the Stealth Harpist attained level 9. Once the servers go up I may even get him to hero status (level 10) today. :D

What's a Stealth Harpist you ask? Tell me, do you see a harp anywhere in the image below? If you're seein' what I'm a-seein', I see an Elf holding a flute in a veritical position with his left hand and ticklin' the air with the fingers of his right hand. Anyway, I posted about this on the LOTRO forums. Apparently Curulinde is not the only Stealth Harpist in Middle-earth at this time.

Tom, that is one neat harp there!! The strings are so thin I can't even see them. 8) ;)

MM, I'll add you to the list on the crafting side plus add the others on the first post here. :)

I've updated the crafting thread. Let me know if I need to change anything.

I recruited a great light-RP'er into the Kinship last night, Vollund, a Man Hunter (I like the sound of that!). I asked him to join up here, but one thing to consider is making the URL a permanent part of the Message of the Day, which might help people find their way. Over on Windfola, my kinship has as their MOTD: "Please register on [url] if you haven't already."

EDIT: Oh, and *Rohirric version of 'ding' (clong?--like that great bell at Edoras in PJLOTR?)* for Freoric's 11!

EDIT2: I know there are several people in the kinship who haven't posted in this thread--if you see them in-game, please ask them to do so!

Jon,

Just a thought, and definitely not necessary. But would it at all be possible for us to change our icons to the Servants of the Secret Fire coat of arms that Old_Tom_Bombadil has recently created? If thats too much hassle, no problem, but it would be pretty cool. No pressure........... ;)

OK! Here are my two characters:

Gaal, a Very Great Dwarf, who is, of course, an Explorer, Champion and Dwarf-of-the-World, as well as real life husband to the chick who calls herself Athelian (She-Man). Level 11.

Rasthelian, a Human Burglar, who is too lazy at this point to have a vocation and seems to be stuck at Level 4.

Generally, I will be playing Gaal. My available hours are not really consistent, as my real life work schedule is weird.

Ahhhh!!! Perhaps when time goes on I'll offer my assistance in a more user friendly thread system. This is difficult and un-organized. Though no offense to any of you! I just come from a guild in another game where I ran it a bit more fluid. I'd be more than happy to help when time goes by! :)

Anyway....

DooDooDoot: Halaron: Man: Minstrel: 15: Yeoman: Always on
DooDooDoot: Galathor: Man: Burgler: 7(haha): Woodsman: Rarely
DooDooDoot: Agriel: Woman: 9: Champion: Tinker: Occasionally
DooDooDoot: Relona: Woman: 8: Guardian: Historian: Occasionally

(I'm usually on a lot on the weekends and anywhere from 5PM - 1AM M-Th...West Coast Times for me)

And don't even ask what he puts in his breeches!

Speaking of breeches, I was remiss in capturing a printscreen of our tiny leader yesterday. He looked splendid in his wee Elven helm and other accoutrements. He was a mithril corselet shy of being the very image of an Elven Princeling. :D

Welcome Zenori. :) Glad to have another Historian among us. I have just taken up that craft and I enjoy it. :) I'll add you to the crafting list. What materials are you in need of now?

Halaron, welcome to you as well. This kinship has just started here on TORC and the adjustment to the forums are still taking place. :) I'll add your crafters to the list as well. What materials are you in need of?
