Calling all those who speak elvish, and those who want to learn

Tolkien's worlds were birthed out of his love of language and his work at creating new ones. Enter into discussions surrounding Tolkien's languages.

Drop me a line - that'll put me up to three current students, and then I'll have to have a think if I can accept anymore - depends when and if people want tutoring. :)

(Email should be somewhere on the previous page).

Well, it would be useful if you told us first which Elvish language you want to study. :) Tolkien developed two major ones, that is Quenya and Sindarin, and they're very different from one another. Quenya is a sort of "Latin-Elvish" resembling Finnish, while Sindarin is the language spoken by the Elves at the time of the Lord of the Rings. You can visit the sticked threads at the top of the Language board to find a bit more information about them.

Is anyone still accepting Sindarin students? If so I would apply/enroll.

I don't teach in the same way anymore, now I have a full website dedicated (with all the lessons on it that I used to send out in .doc format) to it with exercises, but I will happily act as a sort of tutor/mentor to anyone wishing it, where you work through the lessons at your own pace, and email me if you have any problems or queries about anything.

If you'd be interested in that, email me at pupilsoftheistari@yahoo.co.uk

Hello,

I would love to learn Sindarin as fluently as possible. I am very new, very passionate, and I learn best by doing things.

Thank you.

I recently came across a cool project to make elvish more available to fans:
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/ad ... rning-tool

I always wondered why more people don't speak it. I really wish it was less difficult! :(
but apparently, at last this tool would address that. i hope it takes off
