*The Twilight Guild*

Postby Aduial » Mon Jul 29, 2002 2:45 pm

Now headed by the new Guild Mistress, Vanaladiel!

"A child born at dawn's first light or sunset's last is said to walk the world and the half-world. They are feared and respected for they have great power. But most of these children of twilight retreat from the world and fade into the half-world. But there are those who remain..." - StarIce

Hello, and welcome to the Twilight Guild!

This is a guild for those of the Twilight, lovers of the mystical Night
I have decided to create a guild for all those here who prefer Night over day, or simply just love the dark. I'm curious to see who here has interest in the shadows, and does not consider dark or night an evil thing. Anyone who has any respect for myterious and obscuring shadow, or the calm peace of night. Those of the twilight should form an alliance. Here is a place to give poetry, links to pictures, tell of any strange events surrounding the night, or other such material you would like to share. I think of night as a more magical sort of time, surrounded in Fantasy. Share any expierence of what has happened at night that may seem odd. You are free to discuss anything here, as long as you are a lover of night. We are not necessarily evil, not necessarily purely good. The twilight, the middle, where dark meets light. This also a place for stargazers.

Here is something I created about those I have met with the mind of a twilit person. It may not follow what your personality is, we waver far too much. But it may apply to some of us. It is very hard to write down in words what I feel it is to be someone like us. I'm a visual artist, and am not to good with words: We are the drift, the wavered and gradient section of the world that is between light and dark. We do not look at something and consider it evil or something else wholly good. We are intellligent, questioning, finding things out for sure. We are mysterious, enchanting, we are not exactly sure where we belong but we shall be content with out place and know all sides of life. We watch others struggle, while we are on both sides of an argument. We will not commit to one thing unless we truely believe in it. But we always have all the facts. It is as if we are in a different class all ourselves. Not overly self conscious nor self absorbed. Life is to have a good time. We float above the rest like spirits in our world of inner tranquility, untouchable as the rest struggle below us. Things are seen differently by us. We are not judgemental, nor are we openly cruel and selfish. It is as if we stand as something out of a moonlit rainbow, an untouchable fantasy creature of unknown origin that a weary traveler may see and try to follow, but loses upon the way. We aren't usually understood, but it doesnt bother us to much. We know who we are and false comments do not reach us. We are not the shadow. We are not the light. We are the Twilight, the enchanted violet blur that streaks upon the sky under the stars.

Welcoming new members any time!

World within Universe
Spirit in soul...
Black has no color
White hides them all
Grey shadows
In Twilight purple
Greatest sorrows
In brightest heart...
When is the day?
When is the night?
-Elbereth_Tintalle

A Poem of My Twilight Family

As purple colors the sky
It's a call to you and I
For the children of twilight are we
So as others flee the night
We seek moonbeams and starlight
For this is where we choose to be

Dancing gracefully at night
Underneath the moons light
Is the vision of a twilight child

For as visions from a dream
Are our movements so it seem
Because we are as meadow sprites, wild

So watch closely at night
For you may catch a sight
Of a twilight child dancing free
For my twilight family and I
May choose to dance before your eye
For in the twilight do we dance with glee
-Vanaladiel

"Dark is to Dark, light is to light,
Shadow reigns in the freedom of the night.
Dark is not evil, night is not cruel,
though for some reason that has been the rule.
ominous pretence
it makes no sence
lest you betray the stars"

Thank you for the information, Vanaladiel, I shall go away from the star related things. The real purpose fo this guild is to make an alliance of Twilight peoples. I could find no thread that was an alliance of those who think of dark not as an evil thing, since that is so widely thought. It is hard to have someone who loves shadow not be thought of as evil, or shady in some way, not to be trusted.

*Aduial*

"Light is beautiful, but its obvious glare can blind you from other meanings"

This is my other character she loves to stargaze and wander around at night compared to Thal who is hyper sugar crazed elf I think she will fit in nicely. As for the name is it's a little odd, but I think it be okay. It means Greenstarjewel.
Calenelmir

And the poem I am still thinking about that!

I am honoured to be counted among the members here! I do have a very strong draw to the night by the moon of which I am the dancer. I also wear the Moon Ring of the Moonlight Dance. I wear a Moonstone necklace that if you come to the gathering in Dec 2003 you shall see for I will be wearing it. I have ordered a ring and bracelet to match.

I dont know why the night and moonlight draw me so, but I am not a dark person it is so romantic to me and so calming to my soul.

Moonbeam and starlight
Amid meadow and stream
Summer dances into view
Sparking a lover's dream

Nature sighs in relief
Leaves bow in the breeze
In a dance of tender grace
As the wind kisses the trees

Together joined in harmony
Swaying in unison to love
Dancing summers melody
The sanctioned song from above

Caresses by a gentle hand
As tenderly they touch
Desires of the heart fulfilled
Answers to the longing of such

A dance bathed in moonlight
Entwined in sweet embrace
Young passions realized
As lovers come face to face.

Hello Morisiliel! It will be great to have you join us. Just write something simple. It doesnt have to be anything long just maybe how the twilight makes you feel or how it stirs your soul.

I found it funny I have to have the room totally dark to sleep too. I have cardboard in the window or the sun wakes me up too soon. I also need soft music like celtic tunes to sleep also. Silence is deafening, I need music.

Any of you that can make it to the gathering in Dec. 2003 we will have to get together and dance or meet in the moonlight to celebrate twilight and night time. That would be so cool to party to celebrate night.

alright, will do.

same here, Vana!! i coudn't sleep last night; my cd's were packed for our trip so i couldn't listen to my tannehill weavers or celtic book of days music. i should try the cardboard thing. my window faces the sunrise, so usually i'm awake by 5:30. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-rolleyes.gif"border=0> europeans are smart, they use those awesome shade things. another plus to those is that they block out lightning too. *shivers*

i'm trying to persuade my dad, telling him it's a once-in-a-lifetime thing. the gathering, that is. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>
i sooo want to go...soon, by, umm...the end of this month, i'd say, i'll have earned $100. maybe instead of buying that awesome LOTR elven brooch that costs $60, i'll save for the gathering. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-crying.gif"border=0><img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-crying.gif"border=0><img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-crying.gif"border=0> it'd be so cool to wear there, though...

Lycoris

Twilight
When light meets dark
It's "magic hour"
Let the dragons come
In swirling mist
Great things are seen
How can it get any better?
Twilight

howzat?

Thank you so much Vanaladiel.
I of all people should know we vary so, and not eveyrone may be into the arts of drawing or writing, so I beleive I should change the way of entry into this guild. After all, this is not a poetry or art guild strictly. I would be open to any ideas.

I also wanted to share this... I used it for a friend who was feeling depressed. Imagry is so awesome to deal with, even if I do have to use words. I do not think I could capture the true beauty of this in a picture.

Imagine...
You are a traveler and it is in the twilight of night where the sky is alternating violet and pink colors. You come upon a hilly field with some trees that grow twisted as if inviting you to climb. It is high up, and lush with soft grass. The wind is blowing fast; it is warm, like a summer storm approaching. Then a night-lit rainbow appears. Nearby, you hear something. Turning, a wisp and flash of long blue hair and a beautiful violet and white shimmering dress whip around some rocks. You follow through the sparse woods as she gives off an eerie glow. Fireflies dance in her wake and the lilies and flowers seem almost to glow. It is almost some sort of fairy, though you cannot see her well. For she does not stand still for long - only her sparkled, enchanted and glowing face peeks at you for more than a second to tease you as you follow her. The groves of wood are similar to Lothlorien, alluring and beautiful. Numerous springs of clear water run about.
She takes you back into the field, too far away to see well, but her glow you follow. Her light feet make no indent on the blowing soft grass. The warm wind blows fast, thunder is heard in the distance, and the eerie sky glows different shades of violet. You follow her to the rainbow; only she walks in and disappears.
You look in and see a beautiful paradise of tropical proportions. Instead of a moon, a brilliant green-tinted Saturn fills the night sky, dipping into the clear water. Palm trees blow in the warm wind.
But them, the vision is gone. The rainbow is sucked into the sky. You look up, and the clouds swirl. They give way to a starlit sky. The warm wind persists however, blowing your hair wildly. You lie down, and open your hand, which you just realized was clasped. Inside, is a tiny glowing mouse is huddled. He is as if made of fine glitter, and shimmers as his miniature nose nuzzles your hand. He scurries onto your wrist, revealing a silver moon pendant to fasten your cloak, which is blowing about on the ground. It holds a special light, which only the warmth of your hand can make emit. You sigh, and lay down to sleep. Soft grass cushions you; warm winds blows over your, and your dreams are filled with sweet visions of the paradise that was beyond the rainbow....

I would also like to give something to each member of this guild. However you take it or use it is your choice, but I would like to giv eyou all this.

It is a perectly smooth silver moon brooch. Possibly mithril, but it has a consistant shine that cannot be worn off. It has a core of deer antler and some form of magick that is none too evident on the surface. It may aid you, for it shall glow by the heat of your hand to give you a small amount of light, and by it you can call dark shadow clouds of a summer twilight storm, so it may hide you in trying to escape from somewhere. It is a symbol of the Twilight Guild. Use it as you will.

love,
*Aduial*

"With a name that means Evening Twilight,
She welcomes the day but worships the night"
wow...that was really incredible. you're right, you can't capture that in a picture. words have such power.
i don't exactly fit the twilight person description, but i think it would be something worth trying to become.
thank you for the brooch. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0> it'd be so neat to find something like that. i'll keep an eye out.<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0> *MV pins it on her cloak. now its light mingles with that of her elven leaf pendant*
the title of my poem, Lycoris, is a name originated in Greece that means twilight.

did anyone catch the part from reign of fire?

Andiual,

I am honoured by your gift! It is beautiful!
It sounds to me like the stone may be a Rainbow Moonstone. They are beautiful.

I am truly amazed by what was written in that account. So truly wonderful and mysterious yet so how I picture myself. People dont understand me and my draw to the moon or my interest in the night and its colors from dusk till dawn.

My favorite colors have always been blues and purples of every hue as well as greens and greys. Sounda alot like a forest at twilight.

Thank you again I shall wear it proudly!

*Hovers on the borders self consiously, wondering what to say or if she should even speak up at all*

It's evening when she dares to walk the world
And night's violet and silver curtain, is now newly unfurled.
The Earth rests now, relief from the harsh light of day.
The persuasive call of the owl replaces that of jay.
A silver gown rests on her frame, a blue moon above her eyes
Her hair blows free behind her, pushed by the night wind's sighs.
She pauses to pay homage, and smile up at the moon
Her fingers in the air trace an ancient rune.
For in the night she's wild and free, but in the day she's tame
Thus all day long she yearns, for the night the Earth to claim

I am Iavasel,(Autumn Star)and i find that nothing can compare to crisp October evenings. At night we can forget our boundries that the daylight clearly shows us. At night, in the shadowy world hovering between fantasy and reality, things are not definate. Our imaginations are given free reign. The daylight makes us forget, but in the night, our hearts remember our deepest longings, and show them to us in our dreams.

And who are you, to brighten the night?
Isn't shadow the path from dark to light?

I would like to join, Aduial. Though I have a tendency to get overly melodramatic.
Greetings to all my fellow Twilight members! It is wonderful to see so many of us.

I have some neat things to share with you all but I know some of you may think I am a bit weird, so be it.

First: I got my rainbow moonstone ring yesterday and I love it. It has the blues and pinks in it. It is a beautiful stone.

Second: I also found a cd the other day that some of you may be interested in. It is called MOONLORE by Llewellyn and it is beautiful. If you love Celtic music at all it is truly wonderful. He has several including CELTIC LEGEND and it is wonderful too. Truly hauntingly beautiful.

Thirdly: I am looking to find a brooch that matches your description or I may see if I can find someone to design it. I really would love one.

Anyways I am having a pretty good day and hope everyone else is too.

Oooo. That sounds so pretty! I wish I could see it! I have a moonstone myself, but have no moonstone jewelery.
That cd sounds wonderful too! I'll keep an eye out for it, thanks for the tip!
-Iavasel

I hope no one minds but I wish to keep this thread active and moving. I know that to some they wish to visit once in a while and then do other stuff. But you see my life really is the twilight and moonbeams with starlight.

I am a child of the twilight whether I want to be or not. It stirs my blood in ways that I can not explain. Oh I love the daytime and all that can be done in it but I find the twilight is where my heart really is.

I know that the moon has an effect on many things in life such as the tides and all but it is in the twilight that I truly come to life.

I wish to dance by the moonlight and find my pleasures there in the forest at twilight. To watch the moonlight dance in the branches of the trees as a gently breeze blows through the tree tops. To hear the crickets and frogs singing to their mates. To be bathed in moonbeams and starlight.

I have been to several festivals here on the boards in the last 6 months and if you could go back and read them you will find in each case I have gone into the forest and found a meadow by which to dance in the moonlight and celebrate the twilight. I truly am a meadow sprite at heart and wish that we could all experience the pleasure of dancing in the moonlight unfettered by traditionalism and peoples opinions.

Oh btw, the climax of the meteor showers is the 12th of August, I believe, so dont miss it and dance in the moonlight while you are at it. Celebrate the twilight!!!

Ah, Morisiliel, but what would the mood be if not for the twilit setting? <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>
Welcome Iavasel to the Twilight Guild!
Again, I apologize for my absence. I have been getting on less and less the past week, but now I should be fine. I am immensely glad to see this thread moving along. Thank you Vanaladiel for your great interest. And thanks for the information! Ah, after your description of yourself Vanaladiel I must say I am much like you. And not by any means are you weird.
A rainbow moonstone ring? That must be extremely beautiful!
Hmm… I shall try to find that music.
It would be neat to see the moon pendent in real life. My character Aduial wears one, and I am trying to find something like it for the gathering.

Right now I am watching Lord of the Rings…again.

I know many people don’t like their stuff online, that’s why I would only put someone’s on if they gave me permission.
My day did not go so well, mother was being very beastly so I got fed up and dyed a few strands of my hair blue. Now I must figure out how to hide them…
I am going stargazing Thursday night, I hope it’s a clear sky! I love gazing at the twilight sky.

Merry part all, until we merry meet again

Love,
*Aduial*
