I've been away for a few days, and find two great new paintings - I especially liked the one about Maedhros in battle, his fiery spirit really shows.

And, that chibi Maedhros is a riot! <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0> If you realize your thought about all of the Fëanorians as chibi characters, I'd sure like to use them as my sig pics at some point (with your permission and properly credited, of course)... Yeah... Sorry I didn't add you before. The sketch alone is a great piece of art.

Good thing you edited, Nár. First of all I love "Healing the Feud". You do seem to be exploring that softer style. thumnbs up

Second of all I fell of my chair when I saw the Seven <strike>Dwarves</strike> Sons of Feanor! It was saved immediately and I'm sure will cheer me up on some later rainy days. Amrond and Amras are just adorable and Caranthir looks so cute when he's mad. Awww and Celegorm's little bow. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>

The sketch for the new piece is beautiful. I love that sort of loose style that sketches and studies seem to come out in so that was a delight.

In short you're my new favourite person. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>

^___^

Nienor: The drop is often drawn with this "funnier" manga style and is supposed to be a sweat-drop. I think. As of someone being embarrassed. Or some such. You know. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0>

I don't pretend to be an anime expert either. A friend of mine, who's really into anime, looked at those chibis and laughed her anatomy off--she said it was a nice try but nope, still Jenny, not anime. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

I agree that the scetch was better, but I liked the painting, too. It has this dreamy look about it. You ran out of watercolour paper, you say? Pity...

Jenny, why did you like the sketch better? (I did too, although I liked them both). Was there something you were going for you felt you "missed" in the painting?

Yes, that's an old problem of mine. My sketches always look looser and more "right" than the finished pieses, but that's common with many artists. What I did get completely wrong in this one was the angle of Finrod's face. In the sketch, he had his head tilted more backwards and you looked up at the face; i managed to get rid of that in the finished version again. :/

Lovely - both the sketch and the finished painting. The blue colouring makes the whole picture somehow very dreamlike. And, I noticed the ring he's wearing - I guess it's the one that he later gives to Barahir?

(FYI, the vertical line you need for the angry smiley is the one you get by pressing AltGr and the button with < and >, at least in my keyboard.)

The painting is lovely, but I do like the sketch better as well simply becasue it was looser and did somehow seem more right. That is, of course, not to say the painting is bad. Certainly not! The colour scheme indeed gives it a dreamy mellow (if you will) feel. The blues were certainly the right choice. It's quite beautifull in its own seperate way from the sketch. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>
