2005
And so we come to it at last, the third age of m00bies
is over, and it will soon be time for many of its
inhabitants to sail into the West. As for Tolkien's
elves, it's a bittersweet parting - the world is
changed, and we have to say our farewells to the land
we loved. It's been an amazing journey, an experience
that's enriched many of our lives.
So let us join together and create something we can
all take with us. Something we can keep to always
remind us of the happy days we spent here. Something
we can dig out of a closet in 30 years time, when TORC
may well be long gone, to make the memories come
flooding back.
What I propose is that we create a m00bies 'family
tree' - a record of all the posters who've helped make
this journey special for us. With everyone's help, I
will build up an alphabetical list of m00bies posters,
both past and present, with a profile on each, so that
we'll always remember them and their personal style.
There will be two stages to this. Firstly, the 'final
community', the ones of us still here at the end, need
to report in. Then, we need to submit profiles for the
m00bs no longer with us. I'm sure no one person can
remember *everyone* who's made a good contribution
here, so if you can think of someone not yet on the
list, make them known!
For each person who reports in personally, you can
choose to write your own profile, or if you're too
modest to sing your own praises, ask one of your
m00bies friends to write it for you. And if you're
suggesting a past m00b, again you can do a profile for
them yourselves, or request that someone else do it.
When writing a profile, either for yourself or someone
else, perhaps include things such as gender, join
date, age group, the persons general stance on the
movies (happy with, unhappy with, mixed), what sort of
posts they used to make, who they most often debated
with etc. Just anything that will help in remembering
them many years in the future.
Also, if you want to give a personal testament about a
poster, beyond their main profile, because they were
particularly special to you, you can do that too, and
I will add your quote to their profile.
Once the list is complete as we can make it, then we
can all print it out and keep it in a safe place. (I
will be printing out the threads listed in the META
movie forum as well to accompany it).
Below I've tried to make a comprehensive list of past
and present members it would be nice to have profiles
for. I'm sure there are some I've missed out, and I
would welcome suggestions of more people to add -
either past members you remember, or current TORCers
we need to track down. Those I have profiles for
already are in bold, those it would be nice to have

Most well-known 'title': "His Rosyness"
General stance on Jackson's LOTR: Very happy!
Description: (in his own words)
I joined TORC after posting for several months at
Ringbearer (along with Leonides*). It was during the
build-up to FOTR, when Kelennar was raging against
every rumour, and Leo was the new kid on the block
standing up to him. I joined him against Kel, and over
time became known as one of the primary defenders of
Jackson's adaption. I often clashed with those unhappy
with the films - most notably Hama, Saranthir,
Mithfanion, GandalfsMother, Lord_Baltimore,
Bandobras_Took, Beleg, eli_cash, Queen_Beruthiel,
halplm and Semprini (yes, the list is long!). My
threads have included surveys about the popularity of
the changes made for the film adaptions, and lists of
"Magic Moments" from the films. Generally, if there
was ever a fierce purist vs. revisionist debate
occuring, I was likely to be found there!
I was one of the people who attended the first ever UK
TORCmoot (then many subsequent ones that got bigger
and bigger), where I found that TORCers are even more
wonderful in real life, and made many good friends as
a result. The first moot, held in Oxford in the summer
of 2002, was particularly memorable for the fact that
I had only planned to stay one day, but when the
evening came I found I did not want to leave, and I
ended up missing all my trains home. EdaintheRanger
did exactly the same thing as me, and we ended up
spending the entire night on the streets of Oxford.
Eventually I was so tired that I found a park bench to
lie down on - which was joked about for some time
after.

offer, and great new people to meet.
For having such a positive view of the movies, I was
dubbed as wearing "rose-coloured glasses" by Hama and
Saranthir. Although I was initially not that thrilled
by this, it caught on and became my 'trademark'. At
the first TORCmoot I was given a real pair of rosy
lenses by Berhael, and the resulting photo, somehow,
led to a Movies swooning thread for me. One of my
swooners, Eruname127, went on to make *me* swoon for
her in real life, and we quickly fell in love. In late
2004 I moved over to the US to live with her, and to
get married, and was amazed by the outpouring of good
wishes, cards and gifts from other TORCers who were
following our story.
The Movies forum (and the rosy lenses!) therefore
changed my life forever.
