Green Eggs and Ham - By Moxy Fruvous

Grade 9 - The Barenaked Ladies

Ordinary Day - Great Big Sea

I was riding the subway, listening to my iPod, feeling depressed about my separation from my then husband, when Ordinary Day came on. I'd heard the song thousands of time, but the third verse just really hit home that day and completely changed my mood:

In this beautiful life,
there's always some sorrow.
And it's a double edged knife,
but there's always tomorrow.
It's up to you now if you sink or swim,
just keep the faith that your ship will come in!
It's not so bad.

I guess it depends on what kind of a bad mood I'm in. I've gone to The Battlehymn of the Republic, Beauty and the Beast, and Away in a Manger at various times for comfort. :)

Who can say if I've been changed for the better?
But because I knew you
I have been changed for good.

It's funny how some distance
Makes everything seem small
And the fears that once controlled me
Can't get to me at all
It's time to see what I can do
To test the limits and break through
No right, no wrong, no rules for me
I'm free
