I am looking forward to seeing how this develops. You might, just might want
to "designate" holidays... Have an Ent Day or maybe decide that Merriadoc
Brandybuck was born in August after a very cold winter Smile !

Now-- onward into the year!

Please call me Parm, and you will see
how I respond with courtesy.
I shall enjoy each chat with you,
but poetry is what I do,
and with iambic wit I play
to scatter poems on my way.
Thus when you hear my footsteps fall,
expect some lyric in your hall.

I agree prm!

I said in the first post:

Quote:

The holidays on this calendar could range from "Bilbo's Birthday" to "The Landing of the Faithful from Numenor Day" to "The Day of the Squirrel" which acknowledges the untimely deaths of all squirrels wantonly slaughtered by casual gamers. They could also be drawn from actual holidays celebrated by the denizens of Middle Earth. Any interesting potential holidays that do not have a specific date can have a specific date designated for it, in which case it will then remain fixed in time.

As such, I encourage all members of the Servants to add to the calendar what they would like to celebrate!

Hey dol! merry dol! ring a dong dillo!

Please pardon the intrusion but may I suggest the recognition of Badger Day? (The smaller, non-wooden variety, of course.) Each year in mid-June The Badger Trust sets aside one day to recognize this remarkable creature native to the British Isles that Professor Tolkien loved so dearly.

[Frodo] waited for an opportunity, when the talk was going again, and Tom was telling an absurd story about badgers and their queer ways - then he slipped the Ring on.

I'd like to add this to the official Calendar...

March 21st
Founder's Day

On this day, the Hobbits of the Shire celebrate the day in Third Age 1601 when the High King at Fornost granted them permission to settle the lands between the Brandywine River and the Far Downs. This area was divided into four farthings and became known as The Shire.

It is a celebration of spring and new beginnings.

Perfect Athelian! I love it. I think that's my favourite so far, actually, and it gives historical depth to the game's current focus on Angmar, and the opposition of those descendants of the ruined Kingdom of Fornost.

We need some January and February entries. Anyone have any interesting ideas? We'll take some uninteresting ones as well. Smile

Best,

We have "Talk Like an Orc Day" this week.

If everyone enjoyed it, we can follow it up in a couple of weeks with "Talk Like a Hobbit" and/or "Talk Like a Dwarf".

Yes....Wednesday the 9th.

Anyone who logs on at any time during that day is encouraged to talk like an orc in kinship chat!

And everyone can decide for themselves what orcs talk like. Wink

December 16th - Vanderhelm's Birthday (Character, mine is March 31st)

I'd also like to celebrate the day that the Troll head was hung on the kinship hall's wall for that day I found a friend.

The anniversary of JRR Tolkien's departure from this Earth draws near. September 2. A memorial service outside Bag End, perhaps?

Or maybe, in the kinship neighborhood seating area?

I think we should use the kinship neighborhood gathering area since we've never used it before.

I saw this invitation on the LOTRO Landroval forum. It sounds like it will be a wonderful gathering and I am going to do my best to attend. Will any other Servants be going?

There are also other events to consider:
