I used to know Morse Code, Eru. When my girlfriend and I would go to church together we would write notes in Morse Code.
What is a typewriter? *slaps Eru with a large trout* Making fun of us oldsters? |

NO!
What is an
electric
typewriter?
And how do you "write" notes in morse code. I would think it would be useful for taking tests. |

A typewriter that runs on electircity...generally faster than a manual, easier on the fingers, less likely to jam, makes soothing whirring noises...
That's what I learned on and occasionally practice with.

Oh I see, so the electricity helps you move the keys, gotcha.
I got some of my friends to learn a version of Tolkien's runes that I got from the Appendixes to write out codes. Now I'm learning to write in Tengwar. I know how, but I need a cheat sheet because I don't know all the symbols yet. |

Wow! I haven't checked in, in a long time!!
Sorry but this is going to be short. I thought after my mid-terms things would slow down, but apparently it's not in the cards for this week. I've been so tired I actually asked someone 'What kind of dog is your fish?'
I haven't had time to read so I'm just going to ask, how was everyones halloween? |

Mica~Lynn it is great to see you again sweetie. Glad to hear that school is going well too. Yeah it becomes more like life as an adult in that when you think it will get easier then the jobs start to pile up and life actually gets busier. I know you will be enjoying the Holidays at home with the family and that is awesome. I hope you have a great and restful time at Christmas when you get that mid winter break from the books and teachers.
The bushes out front? I am not sure exactly what I want to put in yet but I want some time to get a planter built (the stacking bricks that make a cool looking planter) and fill that with the great fertile top soil I will need to grow beautiful and healthy plants. Then I will probably pick some great flowering perennials to put in it. OR.... I can just stick plastic plants in and call it good. NOT!!!!!!!!!
Actually I will be looking at loads of garden magazines and probably going with a flowering phlox that can grow over the edge and then taller plants behind them that flower at different times of the spring, summer and fall. I know I do not want anything too tall like Iris's, Calililies, or Gladiolas in the planter. |

HHHHEEEELLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!
Where is everyone? Sleeping? Working?
Vanadarlin', your planter sounds like it will be lovely. I will have to pay a visit once you get it all in and see how it turned out for you.
Mica~Lynn, excellent to see you again, especially with how overloaded you are at school right now. Vanadarlin' has it right, soon you will have an extended time off to enjoy family and friends at home over break. Hope it is a good and restful time for you. My Halloween was uneventful. Spent it at home under the covers.
Eru, it isn't hard to learn Morse Code, or to write it. We also learned the alphabet in sign language and would sign during church. Good luck on learning to write Tengwar!!
Rose, I have done that too!! Made my own codes for lists and such. It is easy enough to do, isn't it and fun too. How are you today? Get any sleep at all? And I know you have a ton of chores to get to. Hope to see you around.
Passes Iris some coffee, so that she doesn't fall asleep at her desk.

Frelga and Mica! Now that's exhaustion!
Hrm, extra long day today. I think I have something planned from now until 10 pm. It's going to be fun, just really tiring. |

*is jealous* I was thinking the same thing, I'll bet your landlady will swoon with delight once you're done Vana. If I can't get down to visit, pleeeeease take pictures and post links in here?
Yes, the Purple Bush will be left to bloom as much as it wants, and if the weather holds to December, so be it! Although, I suspect it will get its fall 'haircut' by the end of November . . . since I don't want to leave the dead plant under the snow. too easily turns into a Mice Motel, doncha know . . .
Mica~Lynn, great to see you again, and no worries about not reading back, rwhen's threads tend to move fast! Either that or we're just a gabby bunch o' coconuts.
I've had my share of exhaustion but strangely enough can't remember anything amusing to share with y'all . . .
And yes rwhen, slow at work is a good thing now. It means the testing frenzy for the current Build is over and we have about a week's "grace" time to fill in our results while the developers hammer up the code for the next go-round . . .
And speaking of work . . . I guess I should . . .

I am getting some work completed and out the door today. Boxing up stuff that needs to be returned to vendors and such.
Yelling at my techs.
How is everyone? Rowan? How was your work day?

It was a gas, I just wish there had been more time in THAT day. That you and Guru could have come the next day up to the Falls and into Portland. We sure thought of you and wanted you there.
Then again, the wind about took me off my feet, literally, up in the gorge. I have never seen it so windy there like that!!!
But we will do it again, soon. Are you like a bit less than two hours from Seattle proper? |

I remember Morse Code, though I can't recall ever needing it. That and semaphore, which I did use on survival camping trips, LOL. Gads, the stuff we learned when we were young . . .
I was just thinking today, I'll be ever so happy when we move to BC. Then I can nip down and see all the PNW folks much more easily.
Of course, y'all may have moved away somewhere sicrit by then . . .

Ditto!! Really? You are thinking of moving to BC or you ARE moving to BC? El shockareno!!! I figured with your home and all that you were pretty well cemented and I am going NO WHERE. Well one caveat, if I win like a kabillion dollars in the lottery, y'all have to come and visit me in my villa in Tuscany. But since the likelihood of that happening is slim and none and slim just rode out of town, I will be here in the PNW for the duration.
Vanadarlin', I have thought to get up to Seattle before Christmas, to finish off some shopping. If I do, would you and Guru meet me there? I will make it a Sunday, just to be certain that the days don't conflict. I want to go back to Pikes and pick up some things that I saw there. Dinner at Compagna would be on me. *hopes* |

Nope, no leg pulling here. The Hubby and I have been looking for quite a few years now in Christina Lake, and we've pretty much decided that we can't take the winters here for too many more years. So, we're looking for either a lot or a house and planning to relocate . . . well . . . as soon as it's feasible.
The one thing holding me here is my mother. She's 84 years young (today, as a matter of fact ) and still going rather strong. Which is wonderful and if she'd agree to move with us, we'd be gone tomorrow, LOL. But she's the one cemented here, soooo, we won't be moving permanently until she goes to the Lord (and much as I'd love to move, I hope she's not going all that soon . . . )
But if we won the lottery . . . yes, kaboom! We'd buy her a villa right next to ours, LOLOL AND a house in BC.

Well I do not wish to rush your mother into being with the Lord by any means. So I totally understand your waiting.
My closest friend of over 30 years just lost her mother last Sunday evening. So I know the pain that would cause and I wish your mother well for as long as the Lord will provide. Yes my friends mother was a Christian so they have the reassurance that they will be together once more in the forever after. So grieved as they are they know she is not suffering and in a much better place. |
