Yep, and they did it far better than St. Elsewhere, when the whole series turned out to be in a snowglobe in the hands of an autistic child. That one was so disappointing.

But the one with M*A*S*H was good.

I think the accent would kind of give her away though. I love the Aussie accent!!

We don't have accents. It's just you! :D:D:D :thppt:

Last time I was in NYC, someone mistook my accent for an English one. Not that I minded as I love english accents.

oh, really? Then how did those kangoaroos get on those socks you sent me, hmmmmm? Or are those "For Export Only" sockssses?

Yep!

So, the new digs look good. Your snowman reminds me of the one from Monsters Inc. He had an obsession with snow cones...

Anyone who thinks an Aussie accent is like a British one should be shot!!! They are not that close actually!!! I guess it is like being here in the USA and hearing a southern accent to a New York accent. They are definitely different. :D

Reminds me of a time years ago I visited Dallas, Texas. I went to a church there, and they asked me where I came from, I told them from Kansas. Somebody said "I thought so, you have that Kansas accent." They said this in such a Texas drawl I could barely keep from laughing out loud. And they said I had an accent.

Shows how different we are wherever we go. Somebody said how we are divided by a common language.

My sisters twin boys learned to speak when they were stationed in Texas and my dad called one day. The boys had gotten in trouble and my dad asked them what they were doing.

"Wre sittin in a char, cause we was playin on the stars!"

My dad told my sister to get them out of there so they could learn proper english. :roflmbo:

My friend's grandson had the same problem. She was visiting and playing scrabble with him, and he played S-N-I-K-E. She asked what that was and he said, "You know, granma, a snike!" His mom (who grew up in New York state) laughed and said, "He means snake, mom!"

I would understand peeps getting a kiwi and Oz accent mixed up overseas. (though we would react like a Canadian does to being called an American to that one...  ) We kinda sound similar (except for a few vowels.) One of my best friend's is from the UK so I have picked up a few words she says...like church and schedule and dance etc. But I also say four and door like an American at times. I blame the tv for that one.

I guess it is like being here in the USA and hearing a southern accent to a New York accent.

They are soooo totally different! No one could ever mix those two up.

Snike!

I looooove listening to any accent . . . Canadian accents are boring, except for the Maritimes ones. :D notlistening has the sweetest accent . . . I could have sat and listened to her read the phone book aloud and been happy. :D

ooookay, art class has just ended . . . we now have 2 new additions:

8 ) A unicorn for Cock Robin . . . and

9 ) A Surprise ;) for Vana . . .

Storyteller's bird will be tomorrow. I can only inhale so much clear nail polish fumes at a sitting, LOL.

I agree . . . "snike" . . . :lmbo:

When I was a kid, my Uncle George (only a neighbor, but we called him Uncle) was from England and he knew accents so well that he could tell you what street in London you grew up on. They came to America after WWII , very spooked by the war (their flat was bombed while they went out to the theatre).

I love the northern mid-western accents....and a Maine accent is also awesome. And of course....an Aussie accent is divine. As is our NL. :)

OK...the humble bumble is most awesome Tooks! My husband approves. We have a whole figurine set that was given as a gift.....displayed prominently every holiday season. :D (Rudolph is an important thing in our family)

Hello to the new people! And the old....been really out of touch lately.
I have a "rock and pony" show this afternoon at an elementary school, so I've been washing my rocks this week....and organizing. Got some Tranca geodes for them to break open...they should like that. Then it's a busy weekend with some big commitments so I've been getting ready for them too, part of which involves a large picnic at my house....for which I'm not so prepared. :|

Hope you all are well....and the Lost endings were great. The Newhart ending is just classic....I actually saw the original. (yes....I'm old "er") :)
And Lost....I didn't even stay up to see the end. I'm so LOST on Lost that I just didn't care at that point. But my son and hubby watched. I still don't get the polar bear. Did they EVER explain that?

Wenchie, the polar bear was answered long ago. It was a leftover from the Dharma experiments.

As for accents, the absolutely bestest accent in all the world is one just like Desmond's.

When I was in college people were always asking me if I grew up in Canada. I'd say, no, I grew up in Pennsylvania. But they would argue with me, "Are you sure?" Yeah, like I don't know where I grew up!

Apparently, between my mother, who went to college in New York, and my uncle, who lives in New York, I picked up a slight accent, which apparently to some people sounds Canadian.

Lovely pics again, Scribbles!

And, for accents, you don't have to go to a different state, there are plenty of them in countries the size of one state. :D

*sigh* Back at work and wishing it was at least noon. I have to see the Plastic Surgeon this afternoon, then I'm going home to finish up the workday from there . . . and wouldn't you know it. The weather on my four-day weekend started out rainy and cool and only managed to progress to mostly cloudy with some mixed sunny breaks yesterday. Today? Now that I'm back in an office? Brilliant sunshine, clear skies . . . Gah.

Ah well, it's not snowing so i'm happy enough, LOL.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable Wednesday!

Hey all :)

I'm angRy today. With a capital R, as in RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!! *growls like a Bengal tiger*

I was going through my credit card print-outs, and apparently my former Internet provider was still charging me the monthly fee despite me being well and truly disconnected from them for two months. Didn't send me the receipts, too, which is why it took me a bit of time to pick up on it. So I had to call them and yell. And I hate yelling, my throat really isn't built for making loud noises. The issue is fixed for now, but still, I can't believe a respectable company like that would resort to this kind of petty theft from clients.
"...Their aim in war with Germany is nothing more, nothing less than extermination of Hitlerism... There is absolutely no justification for this kind of war. The ideology of Hitlerism, just like any other ideological system, can be accepted or rejected, this is a matter of political views. But everyone grasps, that an ideology can not be exterminated by force, must not be finished off with a war.” - Vyacheslav Molotov, ""On the Foreign Policy of the Soviet Union", 31 October 1939

Ha oreo... I believe it's the whole phrase that is the trigger. I guess some consider it offensive???

Story... growling like a tiger??

:D From what I hear, ISP companies are good at charging you even after it's been canceled. You have to watch them like a hawk.... or tiger.

It's a hot day here today. Isn't it still May?

eck Storyteller....that stinks. My anti virus company for my computer just renewed my subscription without my permission last year and I freaked on them. And fired them....but it took me forever to get a hold of a human to deal with. :nono: Bad company behavior.

An Oreo sighting!!! How in the heck are you doing over there on the coast? Life good?

Thanks Tooks....I think I recall someone telling me that about the polar bear. Silly show. Did we ever find out why they had to reset the thing every 100+ minutes? I read some of the online hub bub about the ending....very different opinions everywhere.

So, I'm wiped out. I just did my rock show, which went well, but it's like 90 degrees F here and I was just dripping sweat. At the end I show my flourescent minerals....under a dark green sheet with about 3 kids at a time. The teacher actually ran and got me some water when she saw the sweat dripping off of me at one point. It was absolutely sweltering under that sheet.....the kids didn't seem to mind at all. Kids love glowing rocks and I guess they like them even in 90 degree heat under a sheet. Sheesh! :D
