Heeey folks! I'm not exactly new... *quietly blows dust off of my account* ...but I figured this would be a good place to say hi while trying to remember various acronyms and thread titles. :) It's good to be back!

Your signature will not show up for two reasons.

1.) That function is in limbo right now.
The reason you see sigs is because they were present before Jon, the owner of the site, changed servers.

2.) A sig comes with a Premiere Membership.
Yeah, you gotta fork over some dough.
But as I said above, it's i limbo and you can't get one yet.

Hope this doesn't deter you from sticking around, though.

Hi there! I'm Kayley, and no matter how many forums I join I never really know what to say in introduction threads, but hello!

Also, if anyone is willing, I'm working on a project for a cultural anthropology class for which I am interviewing different types of fans and participating in the communities surrounding different types of entertainment (I am a lifelong fan of Tolkien, so this one is my personal favorite ;) ), so if you would be willing to answer a few questions (things like why you love Tolkien and how you participate in the community) it would be a huge help! :)

Hello, I'm Troy.

I've been a fan for more than three decades. I used to go to sleep to "The Silmarillion" on tape! Languages fascinate me, as well, so Prof. Tolkien has stood me in good stead.

Greetings! :) I'm Elwing, but feel free to call me Elly. I'm new here and thought this might be nice thread to name my first post. I first saw Lord of the Rings three or four years ago and thought it was spectacular! From there I started reading Tolkien's work, got interested in elvish, and just became obsessed over all with the mystical world of middle earth. I thought this would be a good place to connect with other fans and increase my knowledge of Tolkien.

Hey guys and gals! I am a young college age student currently getting ready to take an exciting tolkien course in the spring. In preparation for this course I will be reading/re-reading a lot of Tolkien's works. This course will be interesting because we will be studying Tolkien from a very christian perspective.

Thanks! I am starting to listen to the Silmarillion audio book version. I can already see many similarities between Eru and the Lord. I think faith is certainly an aspect that is ignored when it comes to literary scholarship. I certainly come from a faith based background but I can promise I won't be whacking anyone over the head with religious literature and doing obnoxious preaching but certainly I like to discuss tolkien and many other authors as they related to both the tanakh and the Brit chadashah. My faith based discussions will likely be more limited to faith as it pertains to the book or casual discussion of holidays...xD

Anyways, I think I might not post in the study forum until I get more familiar with the site in general.
