The Even Greater Aussie Guild - Celebrating 10 YEARS!

The varied peoples of Middle-earth at times found unity in their pursuits, and all too often experienced deep rifts. Engage in lively conversations as we banter about the differences between the Alliances, and recruit for our People as well. Remember, keep it friendly.

Wow, I haven't been active here since 2005

Elora mentioned going to see "FOTR" with the QSO...we did it in West Oz in June and I SANG IT!!! Freaking AWESOME buzz (wore my "Evenstar" pendant on stage to boot! Let us look Elven or die!) And I've signed up to sing the "TTT" concerts in June next year.

Bucket list - "Sing LOTR movie score" - TICK!!

Hope everyone is well & looking forward to "Hobbit Part 2"... :)

Welcome back Edhelanna!

So, what about ol Tony? Finding it isn't so easy now that he just cant blow soundbytes and chuckles and tag lines out beating up those in power.

Hi everyone,

Long time no see. If you've noticed the pattern of my only popping up round summer holidays you'd be onto something - just arrived at my parents' place for Christmas and can stop and breathe for a bit!

Hi Edhelanna, I'm not sure we've met before! Singing the LoTR soundtrack is an awesome bucket list entry (made more awesome by getting to tick it off) :)

Arassuil, I have no words where Tony is concerned. Only head shaking.

How are you anyway?
I'm glad to be on a break from uni, but I think I need a nice long holiday in the very near future.
Anyone excited for Hobbit Part Deux? I have purposely avoided any information so far...

Hobbit2 was a non-event. It was marginally better than the 1st.
Hoping the new year is being kind to everyone! :)

Yes, The Hobbit was disappointing. I enjoyed some aspects while I was watching it, but about an hour from the end I was actually getting bored. That's not what you want.

I second Arassuil's thoughts for the new year!

We're 2/3rds of the way through the year, and it's been a rather full one. Hoping all is well with the Oz dwellers! :)

You too Arassuil!
It's time for my annual check-in it seems! (I don't actually plan these...)
Well I stuck with the Hobbit all the way to the end, and actually rather enjoyed the 3rd installment. Perhaps it was a combination of low expectations and a free ticket.
It really was 'butter scraped over too much bread' to break the story into three movies but it was nice to be immersed in the world once again.

Hope all you fellow Aussies (and other onlookers :D ) are doing well. I'm sweltering in the Queensland heat and humidity at the moment, on break from uni. Next semester is hopefully my last (handed in my honours thesis nearly two months ago, if anyone was wondering how that was going).

2014 has been a hell of a year in many ways - may 2015 treat us all better!

Hello friends in Oz,
It is quiet in here, I didn't even pop in last year. Life is busy but good so no complaints. Very good luck with your last semester EES.

G'day mates,

I'm a new arrival, something very calm and peaceful about this place, I suspect it's the warm inviting theme :)

Numerous years on from the last post but another Australian shambles back into the site to see if anyone is active... Has everyone moved over to TORn or are they distinctly seperate entities?

Oi! Welcome! It's actually only been a month since the last post in this guild. I drop in once in awhile to see if anything is going on here. Not much activity. I believe TORn is a completely different website.

EES is a month overdue for her annual check-in! :)

Oh helloo, someone's been keeping tabs :D

Arassuil, you are clearly the true heart of this Guild. How are you these days?
I was having a nostalgia fest on another corner of the internet today and thought I'd check in here. Then I remembered my username here and how terrible it is...oops

So how is everyone else going?
Let's see, I graduated finally (last year), and have been tutoring and trying to write a paper since. Working up to PhD in the (hopefully) near future.
Still a metal and prog rock nut. Funds have been lacking for beer tasting, but I became quite fond of Monteith's Black Ale over the Xmas break.
I have nothing Tolkien-related to add, but I was thinking the other day how culturally influential the LoTR movies really were. They've become kind of ingrained in everyday life the way Star Wars did in the decades before. Speaking of, any Star Wars fans?, and how did you like The Force Awakens? (I loved it!)

I guess that's all I can say for now!

Hi to melanippos and Panthera leo. Well met, since I'm obviously late to the party!
*waves to celebalqua for next time*

Manya! Good to see ya! Too bad it took 5 months for me to get here to say that. So... no, not really.
You sound as busy as ever!
Monteith's makes a decent Black, but my fav of theirs is their Dopplebock!
I really enjoyed The Force Awakens. It was quite well done I thought.

Well, I'm off... hopefully will be back before another 5 months pass.

Hey there!
The busy-ness is an illusion... I think I have just the right amount of work on my plate at the moment... still trying to remember how that social life thing people talk about is meant to work, while I'm not currently studying.
I had a foray into single malt scotch with the onset of the colder weather, but alas it's not a habit that is compatible with my finances :D

Take care Arassuil (and pre-emptive greetings to anyone else who stumbles in in the meantime!)

~Manya~

EDIT: PS - I'm actually coming round to the idea of checking out Rogue One!

Hey there Manya! Hoping you're having a nice steamy Christmas!
Good lager weather it is! We will be having a ham for Christmas no matter how hot it is.

Hi Arassuil!
It sure is steamy... and I'm further north than my usual habitat. Have been accepting all the lager my dad has offered since I arrived!
Am thinking of trying my hand at gravlax for Christmas lunch this year. Have a good one! (And hi to anyone else who drops by)

G'day Manya! I'm only 4 months past when you posted this time! Hoping the summer was good for you!
Are you going to go to the Abbey Medieval Festival this year?

Hello!

4 months, not bad! But I could have sworn I've checked in some time between now and March 27th. Where is this year going?
I'd like to go to the Abbey Festival this year (it's been a while), but it coincides with two other things I'd like to do (though it is by far the cheapest choice). I should probably look into making that decision sooner rather than later!

Hello Manya!
I highly recommend the Abbey Fest!

Went to the Stones Corner Festival last Sunday. Some good music and brews in a street fair setting. Was fun.

Well I went to Sydney to see a band instead of going to the Abbey festival.
Had some trouble signing in here last time I tried, so now it's August already!
