Thanks you guys! Any boards that have frequent communication that you suggest?

True the boards are a bit slow these days
But you can always find some good conversations anywhere on them.
It just might take a bit before someone replies is all.
Right now the most frequented of them seems to be in the "Talk" forums.
It's more like a light conversation though.
"Manwe" is busy, too, but that can get into some heavy discussions.
Books and Movies are still active, just not like "Talk" and "Manwe"

Hi all. I'm re-reading LOTR at the moment; I don't know how many times I've read it, over the last 40 years, but I've worn out a couple of paperback editions, and now I have the 50th Anniversary Edition, a hardback box set, which includes a "Reader's Companion." The Companion is quite interesting, but I don't always agree with the comments - I keep writing margin notes in it!

I'm not a fan of the Jackson films. I thought the casting was mainly good, and they are visually stunning, but PJ took too many liberties with the plot for my liking. I accept that anyone dramatising the books will have to edit, because there is just too much in the books to use it all. But I can't see any justification for inserting new material which Tolkien never wrote. As dramatisations go, I prefer the BBC Radio version from the 1980's. I felt that that stayed closer to the spirit of the original.

I look forward to chatting about the novels here.

Hello everyone

I just want to stop by and tell you what wonderful work you are doing here! Thank you.
I've been an avid fan of Lord of the Rings (books and films) for a looooong time (so much so that I lived in New Zealand for the past 5 years) but I've never gotten around to come on the board here and actually post anything.

But now I'm hoping I will find some more time to read through everything (ok, maybe not everything) here and find some like minded people.
