Spammer Invasion

Morwenna, I'm catching them, banning them, and deleting them as soon as I see them. (I'm on here every day, but of course due to timezones, it might be that the spam posts are on the forum for a wee while.)

We're in the process of redoing the "are you a bot" question, but in the meantime, rest assured that we are aware of the ongoing invasion!

Sadly not - I had to zap five more this morning. But I think I got them before they did much.

Sadly, the place has become quite the spam dump. They obviously figured out how to pry the door open and now they are flooding in.
Maybe a lock-down of new accounts could be temporarily implemented until the door bolt is fixed?

These are great ideas, however, we are short on the ground in terms of moderators at the moment (real life intervening, sadly) and I just don't have the powers to do that. I can delete and ban the spammers once they've arrived, but other than that, my powers are limited.

Right now, pretty much, unfortunately. Of course, the fact is, this messageboard is very slow now anyway and essentially abandoned by its posters, too.

Things have happened in real life for the other mods which means they're not here all the time. Most of the time, that doesn't matter so much, fortunately.
