Cailiawen smelled the sea breeze as she saw the light appear and picked up her bottle and glass and stepped back and watched. When it seemed the wizardry was done, she stepped back to the bar and smiled at the man making such a grand entrance. She gave him a nod and lifted her wine glass as he introduced himself, saying,

“I am Cailiawen of Rhuadur. I am honoured to make your acquaintance. That was quite an entrance you made!”

Having pondered leaving, Cailiawen now reconsidered, especially if the prospect of some music was possible. She waited until after the greetings of an old friend was done before saying to Lady Heather,

“Yes, I think I will stay for one night, and I will need my horse tended as well.”

Cailiawen weighed her coin pouch, knowing that tomorrow she would have to venture north.

Erinhue responded before Lady Heather could speak

“My apologies that the inn is not up to its usual standards. It has been a bit neglected. To make amends you can stay the night in our finest room free of charge. Now it is said, mostly by me, that it is good luck to buy a bard a beer. In return I will sing ya a song.”
From its padded niche in the wall Agarak’s strings began to vibrate. The melody to one of Erinhue’s most famous songs filled the room as its bard began to sing.

Now Morgan was a married man
Who ought to settle down
But when his wife
Distressed his life
Old Morgan went to town

Straight to the tavern Morgan went
To hang with his old crowd
His wife well knew
He’d be at the brew
So she went to track him down.

And its ale, ale and by the pail
For that be Morgan’s Joy.

In the doorway Mrs Morgan stood
And witnessed Morgan’s bliss
She took a look
And stomped her foot
Said, “I’ll put a stop to this.”

Mrs Morgan turned herself around
And went off in a huff
She soon came back
In a wagon packed
With all their worldly stuff

And its ale, ale and by the pail
For that be Morgan’s Joy

When Morgan saw his wife outside
He jumped up with a shout
“What are you doin’
With the stuff you’re movin’
Could it be you’re putting me out?”

“Oh No” his wife sweetly replied
“I knew that you would roam
With ale and wine
You’ll spend your time
So I’m making the tavern our home

And its ale, ale and by the pail
For that be Morgan’s Joy.

Heather called for the boys and sent them to tend the lady's horse, sent the girls to make sure the room was ready, then proceed to set the table. That done, she opened the curtains and began to wipe down the bar, savoring the music.

Cailiawen liked the demeanour of the bard, and so a flagon of amber was ordered for him. Enjoying the song, she gave the bard a nod as he finished, pushing the flagon toward him.

"Here ye go bard, well deserved!"

She removed her cloak which let her reddish brown llocks cascade down overe her shoulders, and she removed her lyre from its wrap. She sat on the stool and said as she tuned the old instrument,

"Maybe I can play a song?"

She looked at the lyre, and having not been in teh company of anyone in some time, she had a couple false starts. But once she got the tune in her head, she started to play and sing....

As I was walking all alone,
I heard two ravens cry and moan;
One said to the other did say o,
"Where shall we go and dine today o?"

"Up behind that old high dyke,
I know there lies a murdered knight;
And no one knows that he lies there o,
But his hawk, and his hound, and his lady fair o...
But his hawk, and his hound, and his lady fair o..."

"His hound is to the hunting gone,
His hawk to bring the wild-fowl home,
His lady loves another Knight o,
So we may make our meal tonight o.
So we may make our meal tonight o."

"You sit on his milk-white thigh,
And I'll peck out his bonny blue eye;
And with a lock of his golden hair o
We'll fix our nest when it grows bare o,"
Yes, fix our nest when it grows bare o."

"Many a one for him does moan,
But no one knows where he is gone;
O'r his bones, where they are bare o,
The wind will blow for evermore o,
The wind will blow for ever more.

It was a sad song, and when Cailiawen finished, she reached for her glass of wine.
