I'll take everyone's liver . . . smothered with bacon and fried onions . . . wait, that didn't come out right . . .

Generally, I'm not a fussy eater - if it doesn't leap off the plate well then it's fair game. ;) However, there are a few things I won't go out of my way for . . . oysters *shudder*, sweet breads *shiver* and chicken feet *gags*. No offense intended if those are someone's favourite delicacies.
Oh hey, how about we celebrate Took's achievement by seeing if she can eat 25,000 chicken wings?

. . . cue evil laugh . . .

*smiles sweetly at the Scribe* You can have my liver....*blinks eyelashes innocently* Nope...I wouldn't even do that to an enemy much less someone I care about. I think I should keep what I got...and I LOVE your idea....

Okay TOOKS...belly up to the table....25,000 chicken wings...

There are a vast number of foods I don't like. Liver is just one.

Not crazy about chicken wings either. Chicken breast, yes, wings or legs or whatever...no.

*perks up* I love chicken .... wings, legs, thighs, breasts....and that sweet spot on the underside...the oyster. *shivers* YUMMMMMY....hey, I love food, let's face it. I was going to make the chicken n dumplin's today...but that is on the schedule for tomorrow now......too much work for a day that I am going to laze my lazy buns off. ;)

Tooks....I THINK that the Scribe had in mind that you do one of those "all you can eat" sort of deals....but I could be wrong. Still those HOT, crispy wings look good to me.

Ah, very true, very true. Besides, as much fun as it might be to see Tooks pass out from wing-overload . . . maybe a better plan is we all dive in and HELP HER EAT THEM ALL! MUAH HAHAHAHAHAHA . . . =:)

Mmmm, I love love love love love asparagus. And brocolli. And most types of squash. Heck there's probably no vegetable that I don't like, though Kale is probably the least favourite of the bunch. ;) Oh, and there's one other - it's a foreign variety of something that is naturally slimy . . . *gag*shudder*

I also adore salmon (nothing like some astounding BC Coho steaks, yum), though I agree with LadyKat, tilapia is a lovely, mild fish. Mmmm, and scallops . . .

Dang it, this is making me hungry. I better just sign off instead and toddle off to bed - that 5:45 am alarm goes off waaaay too early.

I cannot eat shellfish. :( I like tuna and cod, but our family weren't really fish eaters so I've not had a lot of other types of fish. Perch. Walleye. I'm not a fan of salmon although I have *tried* to like it. I tried liver once, I didn't think it tasted to bad but it didn't agree with my tummy/the irony aftertaste and it came right back up.. so, no liver lover here. I'll save 'sweet breads' (who the heck thought that was an appropriate name for .. that), liver, etc.. for making dog food.

Scribbles, the slimy vegetable you are referring to must be okra. I've never had it but I'm betting some of our peoples with Southern roots have.

I love most veggies. I have quite a few friends who have gone vegetarian and although I've cut back on meat I don't think I could cut it out altogether.

I'd believe it, considering your birthplace. When I was a junior in HS, the family went down to Florida to visit Dad's side for the first time ever, his sister Christine lived in Jax. My Uncle Jack introduced me to oysters, he opened one up, down it went with an alcohol chaser. I followed his action, and actually liked it. We don't get oysters in our Middle of Nowhere so haven't had any more in years.

@Scribbles & kale. At our local Olive Garden I tried the zuppa toscana. I'm addicted.

basssillllly......I make Zuppa Toscona....yuppers. I have about 6 servings in my freezer at the moment. I bet you would love it...and it has a fair amount of kale in it with the sausage and taters and creamy and a tiny bit of heat to it. LOVE IT....Now....oysters from the ocean??? I can tolerate them...but would rather have a mud bug any ol' day.....or shrimp or crabs or clams or mussels or lobster or ......shell fish....I LOVE IT. Not a huge fan of salmon. Again, I can eat it, but would rather do red snapper or a good white fish.

The oyster I am referring to is on the bottom of the chicken...not THE bottom of the chicken....but up closer to the wings.....and it is a sweet spot, one on either side of the back bone....about the size of a silver dollar...and it is the juiciest, most tender, most tasty bit.....am I the only one to know of this oyster on the chicken???

Rose/Scribbles....I just wrote on SOME thread earlier this week about okra....don't like the stuff. (could have been facebook) The only way that I like okra is breaded in corn meal and deep fried.....most people in the South put it in gumbo or jambalaya .... but my mother....ARGH.....used to just stew it and it was gagingly awful.

Hey Tooks....we are sure milking this achievement thread for all it's worth.....get yer posts in my friend. :D

Zuppa Toscona?? I do not recall ever trying this. *adds to bucket list*

I love most vegies but am not a fan of okra. :P
Asparagus is okay, but mainly I love my broccoli and beans (various types) and cauliflower and brussel sprouts (roasted with some olive oil is BEST!).
And I eat a big salad at least 5 days a week. Love my fresh greens. yum.

Tooks has got the right idea: veggies, veggies, and more veggies - and just a couple 25,000 chicken wings to go with 'em. I love broccoli, asparagus, cauliflower; I'm not a big fan of okra either, and I hate Brussel sprouts, but I'm mostly vegetarian.

Nope. I know of these twin nuggets of chickeny goodness too. ;) I had no idea they were called the oysters though . . . *scratches head*

Oh don't get me wrong, I don't mind Kale that much - it's just one of those stiff, leafy greens that unless it is young and sweet - it tastes like the bottom of a winter tire.

I'm a huge salad fan too, in the spring, summer and early fall I'll have one every day . . . but when the colder season hits, it's less often because I want food that warms me up. :D

rwhen, is that the bit on the underside of the chicken that comes away in a perfectly formed round bite-sized piece? I love that bit, didn't know it was called an oyster.

I like seafood, not keen on raw seafood and I don't like oysters. Really spicy food I give a miss, but otherwise I'm willing to try almost anything.

Thor'n, did you ever have roasted brussel sprouts? Take some washed, raw brussels, slice them up and spread them on foil on a cookie sheet. Sprinkle with olive oil and then your seasoning of choice -- I prefer something like Montreal or what they call steak seasoning (lots of pepper, some onion and garlic and salt). Cook 'em about 20 minutes at 400 F (longer or shorter depending on how crunchy you like 'em). Dump them on a plate and dig in!!!!

Ok. Now I have to go grocery shopping today and get me some brussels!!!!11

*passes Ninui a huge plate of a juicy burger and bowl of steaming noodles* :D

I am on the Brussels sprouts bandwagon HUGE!!! I used to have them at least twice a week...favorite way to cook them....Tooks' way...roast them in the oven...second favorite way is braised sprouts....with bacon bits, shallots and garlic.....yummy...and over cooking sprouts is a sin...that is why many hate them....

Vanadarlin'....LOL....I don't know. I guess food just follows me? Or of course, I follow it.

heliona...I am like you, I'll try most anything once and if I love it...well, I'll make it a part of my "love list" which is hella long. Oysters...the real deal are a hard fish for me to swallow...literally and figuratively......I see them broiled on a grill with lovely stuff on top...maybe I could deal with that easier. ;)

basillllly one...I can send you overnight some of my Zuppa....not a problem dear friend. Or iffn' ya feel like takin' a stab at it....the Olive Garden website has their recipe for it.....which is what I base mine on....but of course, I add my own "rwhen" touch to it too...I add more taters than they recommend and a tad more heavy cream. And a pinch or too more red pepper flakes.....other than that, it is the same.....this last batch I added a bit more kale and it is too kale heavy...but I still love it. AND I ... am a huge Mediterranean food lover....mostly Greek....can't help that. But also a fusion of Italian/Spanish/Greek foods...all good. Middle Eastern foods I am still working on. ;)

Scribbles....LOL....a tire? A TIRE???? What sort of kale do they grow in Canada????

I think we may have abducted the celebration thread......time to get it back on track???? Dunno...but here is a shot at it....

CONGRATS TOOKSSSIESSSSSS and many more!!

Ok. Now I have to go grocery shopping today and get me some brussels!!!!11

:D

Well, I'll try it, but I don't know...but lots of seasoning makes anything better! :)

Oh, you know. The tough Canuckian sort that will survive a cold spring start, rainy windy summer days followed by drought, and then still thumb its nose at an early frost. :D

Save me a seat on the Brussel Sprout bandwagon too! Love them, and Tooks' rendition for oven roasting has my vote - though I'm not fond of Montreal spice (the stuff we get up here has dill seed in it, bleh). I use a liberal sprinkle of Mrs. Dash (the garlic variety) and it seems to work pretty well. :)

Hmmmm, maybe we should help Tooks to eat 25,000 brussel sprouts! 8)

Although now, it looks like we'll need 25,200 . . . :P

:D :D :D
