The TVM -- the Merry Month of May!

Just as Tolkien and the Inklings used to meet at The Bird and the Baby, come in here to converse about whatever might be on your mind. This is the place for all off-topic conversation.

Fairly sure they are just daddy long legs and much much smaller.

As my older brother has to work this wekend, I'm recording the NFL play offs fro him. He'll come get the usb stick later. His team, the Texans plays tomorrow. He picked the wrong year to give up on SF.

I'm sure where dear Calma is she rejoicing that her Seahawks are doing well.

I am mighty sick of the smoke wafting in the windows, but I'm sure it is 100x worse for the poor fire fighters. Thansk to the US, NZ and Canada for loaning us their teams. I'm not sure where this smoke is coming from as the Fires Near Me web site has none. Unless some moron has tried to set the Lane Cove NP on fire again, like they tried to yesterday. People who set fires should be have all their possessions seized and given to those who lost their homes.

I can agree with your last sentence, nl. :(

Yea, I thought of Calma when I saw the Seahawks. She would be so happy. :D

edited to add....

Here is a photo of an actual lawn ornament from earlier today, taken during a dog walk. These people let their sea monster out all year. :D

Agreed. I hope the fires get under control soon. It's so sad to hear about .. especially as our asshat leaders do nothing/deny climate change.

I would take that sea monster one! Imagine it in a koi pond, with each segment on a little pedestal so it comes out of the water...

I'm ashamed to admit I don't have any lawn ornaments. My neighbors, on the other hand, have a teensy-tiny little garden packed to the brim with statues of angels, gnomes, and everything in between.

Thor'n! Good to see you back! Sounds like a cool garden your neighbors have - as long as there's room among the statues for the plants! I used to drive by a little cottage home with so many figurines in the yard it made me sad to imagine the visiting grandchildren of the owners.

You may not believe this, but my aunt actually has had a lifelong obsession with Bigfoot, and I believe she actually has something like that in her garden. She loves lawn ornaments - as well as wind-chimes and baubles and statues and all that sort of stuff. She's also got a shed in her backyard that she's converted into a meditation space and tarot-reading room.

If I recall correctly from what she told me, it's probably a smallish Bigfoot (I haven't seen it personally, but I've heard plenty about it).

I've seen the wind spinners. Haven't bought one for myself yet. It's on a list. :D

I once saw a yard with a "lying down deer"lawn ornament. Across the street was a real deer lying down just like it! :D

We had a concrete baby deer that looked very similar to the one you posted Tooks. We had it 20 years (or more). It finally fell apart & I had to throw it away this past spring. :( Plastic lawn decor doesn't hold up here very well, even when I take it in for the winter but concrete/well made lawn ornaments are hard to find.

Some of the wind spinners I have:

I know what you mean about the plastic stuff, Rose. My big flamingos are holding up okay, but I may start looking for some more of them just in case.

The deer statue I saw was made of concrete, I think.

And.... here we have another sea serpent. :D

I have no lawn ornaments as I have no lawn, but there is a house near me where they have one of the Bigfoot statues on their lawn.

I like Audrey. If I had a lawn, I would definitely put Audrey out. :D
