We had another round of redundancies at my work yesterday. :( I am still safe which I feel very thankful for, but sad for the others around me. Sorry, you said this was to be a happy place.

Willy:

I was on the Christmas card exchange with Micky and I sent her a card this past winter, all unknowing since I hadn't been on the board since before she passed. But I really missed her during the Westminster Kennel Club show this February; she and I would watch it at our respective homes and come here to compare what we'd seen, and usually commiserate that neither of our favorite dogs were ever chosen to win the groups. Of course this year her favorite, the Golden Retriever, won Sporting and mine, the Sheltie, won Herding! We should have been celebrating together! And commiserating after the Best in Show, complaining (in her words), "Stoopfid poodle!"

I miss her lots.

So my throat has been a little scratchy on and off the past couple of days, I went to get tested as asked by the Premier. Nobody tells you that you can't just go to the drive through testing without a doctor's referal. They said ring my doctor, which of course he's too busy to see me. So then told to go to the local hospital, which I am sure is overrun with people. Turns out, it wasn't. So after talking with them on the phone from the car park, I go in for the test. My brother warned me that the nasal swab was going to hurt, he wasn't wrong. Brought many a tear to my eyes! I'm pretty sure its just sinus and the change in weather, but better safe than making someone else sick.

Ok, Tooks, put down the duct tape and no one gets hurt... though that chair does look cozy.

Yeah, where are all these tests going anyway?? Mr syl has been sick since Jan. (something I gave him because I no longer wanted it) and when he finally went into the dr. in early Feb. he was told he had 'some kind of nasty virus.' Makes ya wonder eh? Though I have to admit, from what nl said, the test may be worse than the virus... not really but it does sound pretty mean.

Binge watching Community, After Life, Brokenwood Mysteries, New Tricks - at least I'm catching up on all the things I said I needed to catch up on... well except cleaning **pffff** soooo boring.

I should get results sometime today. Fairly sure it is just sinus issues...or my icelandic plague cold has returned to me, it never really got better.
Yes we are going into autumn and while we are pretty much crushing the curve here, winter may have other plans. Only 22 cases reported today, no deaths today so far. Though poor nursing homes are getting hit pretty hard, like they are there.

hands Tooks the glitter roll of duct tape as it's so shiny Syl, stay put! ;)

syl, I've been reading more than watching TV. The problem is I've run out of books. I can get free ebooks through my librar card, but ebooks just aren't the same. Lugging a laptop around to where I want to read is a pain. :D

Ooooo sparkly duct tape! So notlistening - are you covid or just regular sick? Here's hoping regular or not sick at all!

Oh Tooks I've been reading too - mostly Stephen King and Colin Dexter, and knitting, and embroidering, and doing the face time, and ... well, I'm here and that generally only occurs once a year  I seriously never thought I'd get tired of free time

Ninui is it really Bird Day?!! Lovely

Syl, I am negative. Which i suspected but better safe than sick. It's just my sinus playing up with all the fresh air.

If you are looking for something really good to read, may I suggest:

nl glad nothing serious going on! The book series looks interesting - will put it on my wish list thanks

NOT Hoagie day??? Nooooooooo Oddly the same sandwich is known by many names, a submarine, grinder, hero. When we lived on the East Coast Thursday was grinder day at my kids schools - they thought they'd died and gone to sandwich heaven

So, what's' in a name? Or for that matter language in general. Mr syl - who's first and only language is English still manages to mangle the language something ferocious. For example, one day he informed me that he felt he led a very 'sedimentary' life style.... oh, if he only knew......

So Happy Cinco de Mayo all.
