I can't argue with that Saruman. It is merely convenient that the Black album was better than subsequent efforts by M.<BR><BR>Meow meow BlackGoat. Metallica, like it or not, is (or was) metal. BTW did you happen to notice if Mike Bordin (from Faith No More) was playing drums for the Ozzman the other night? He was in the new Ozzy video I saw last week....Faith No More....now that was a real band!

The black album is my favourite from the Metallica ones as well. <i>Enter sandman, Of wolf and man, Wherever I may roam...</i> <BR>Skrewball, have you seen AC/DC live? It's a hell of an experience!

Awww, everyone knows the only good song on that album was "Sad But True".

I saw Metallica on the Load tour, I was too young to see them on the Black tour, to relive old glory. The live version of Sad But True was awesome. It was slower and sludgier than the studio version, waaaay better!<BR><BR>Man, I just got Blind Guardian "Nightfall in ME" and the more I listen to it, the more butt it kicks!

Nightfall in Middle Earth is one of the best cd's I own. An absolute masterpiece. By the way, a new Blind Guardian sone leaked yesterday. It isn't supposed to be released for another month, but you can find it on IRC at DALNET channel #mp3-metal if you'd like. The song is called "And then there was Silence". At 15 minutes, it's the longest song Blind Guardian has ever written and definitely one of the best.

Blind Guardian is good, but I like other power metal bands like Jag Panzer or Iron Savior.<BR><BR>I've been listening to a lot of Destruction lately.

<i>Nightfall </i>is one great album! <i>Imaginations</i> was cool as well and some of their earlier songs. But I find that the first ones often don't make much sense. I think they hadn't mastered English that well then.

Heheh, yeah some Euro bands fall into that. Amorphis seemed to struggle with English for a long time, there were still grammatical slips on Tuonela.<BR><BR>Swedes usually have a pretty good grasp of english, but all Swedes I have spoken to say that english is practically the street language in good ol' Svenske.

That's true. It's amazing how well Scandinavian people usually speak English.

Except for Finns. I remember in high school we had a Swedish and a Finnish exchange student. After 10 months the Swede (who spoke English well when she arrived) had NO accent. The Finn still struggled with pronunciation and some grammar.<BR><BR>But I hear that Finnish is a weird language and very hard to learn. Back to metal! <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-devil.gif"border=0> <BR><BR>Any Dimmu Borgir fans out there? They just might be my favourite BM band and the last 3 albums have all been pretty darn good.<BR><BR>What is it with BM bands and their never-ending line-up changes? Apart from prison sentences why can't they keep members?

Dimmu Borgir is pretty cool. I'm not a huge fan of them, but I like them.<BR><BR>Immortal and Emperor are my favorite black metal bands.

Their best album? Well, I like em all, but I think I'd say "At The Heart Of Winter". If you want some suggestions, download the first track "Withstand The Fall of Time". It's flutterin' awesome.<BR><BR>Btw, I'm going to a NY Steel benefit show in November. Twisted Sister are gonna be playing! Woohoo!

Alright, Black Metal freaks listen up. Is it just me or does EMperor throw in the riff from "For Whom the Bell Tolls" (Metallica) on "The Acclamation of Bonds" on the Anthems album? I think it is totally there!

It's not the opening lead from bells, but the rythym guitar riff that is laid down at the start over the bells...very similar to a small bit on Acclamation of Bonds. Maybe a subtle nod to the might that was once Metallica.

God I hate the junk the media tries to pass off as metal these days. Why is everyone so hyped up on the new System of a Down album? Chop Suey is awful. Ugh. Do they have these kind of bands (ie Nu Metal)) over in Europe too?

As the title say we are out for world domination. Metal is our music, mulletted our hair, studded are our jackets, tight are our jeans, skulled are our rings.<BR><BR>Metal cannot be stopped!

My hair is not mulleted, my jacket is not studded, my jeans are not tight and I don't wear any rings!<BR><BR>But, of course, metal is my music.

Allow me to quote the mighty Manowar<BR><BR>"Everyone of us has heard the call,<BR>Brothers of true metal, proud and standing tall!<BR><BR>Heavy Metal! Or no metal at all,<BR>geeks and posers, leave the hall."

Uh-oh... I might be something like a geek. I don't look particularly geeky (working on the metal hair <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>) but I am highly intelligent and read books and play RPGs. I guess this means I can't listen to Manowar

Actually, I traded away my only Manowar CD years ago for Black Vanity by Cemetary. It was the one with a 20 minute song about Achilles...the stupid drum solo in it ticked me off. Drum solos are cool live, but not on a CD...just like 5 minute guitar solos.
