I always have songs playing in my head. One of my daughter's friends once said to me that she'd like to 'be in my head, just for one day'. It is a fun & silly place to be. Big Grin

I didn't mind the waterbed bladder without the baffles but after 15 years the mattress stretches out and does not give the same support. In fact it starts to break down and no matter how much water you add it just does not support anymore. We chose to have a mattress made to fit the frame instead of getting a new waterbed mattress. The warmth of the waterbed was good for my joints that I have trouble with.

Yes Rwhen and Scribbles were both lead singers of groups. Whistling I was the lead alto at our church for years. I love singing too but since leaving my church I have almost lost my voice. I do not hardly sing any more.

I used to sing a lot too, Eru. Wink Alto at first, then second soprano. I haven't sung much in the last two years, though.

Good morning all! Big Grin

we had a train derailment yesterday, so guess what's going to be on the front page? It wasn't bad...the cars jumped the track and then stacked up, but nothing turned over, no spillage, just RJ Corman looking really stupid. Razz It was lack of maintenance that caused it...they apparently knew about the section too and didn't do anything. That company is a pain.

HHHEEELLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

I think almost everyone sings, most sing pretty well, some...well, not so well. Big Grin But most people do love to sing, even if it is in the car when all alone, or late at night or in the shower.

Some of us, just like the stage. I sang my first time in public, solo, for a high school class credit and then for an assembly. I was 15 and it got in my blood. My brother and I formed a band shortly after that and pretty much off and on I was in bands until about 12 years ago. I lost my voice and could no longer perform. Which was a good thing, a bit to old to prance up and down the stage like Pat Benatar. But I sure did enjoy it, I did NOT enjoy the set ups and take downs every weekend. Nor the two or three days a week in practice to add new songs.

It sounds like a glamorous life, but it is a bunch of work. It does however provide an extra income. Which of course is taken up with new equipment for the band. Big Grin

Enough of that, most here know my past well enough indeed.

Vanadarlin', I sold waterbeds in the 80's and had my first one in the mid 70's. When the mattress got to loose, I would just replace it. The thing I don't like about waterbeds is that they are cumbersome, bulky and once in place too much trouble to move. But I LIKE the double stack with a pretty headboard with lights. I won't be having another waterbed, when I divorced the X got it in the divorce and now, I have adjusted back to a regular mattress.

BTW...why are there SO many discount mattress stores? There must be big money in that business. I mean, honestly, I have bought maybe three beds (other than waterbeds) in my entire life....I don't get it.

Iris, hope no one was hurt.

Helllooo and mornin', y'all. Wink

rwhen, that's what "roadies" are for . . . Wink Our history is so similar, we could be twins. Although, I gave up performing in bands very shortly after high school, there just wasn't enough money in it and since I really wanted to go to college, I had to choose . . . tour with band and be free but poor . . . take office job and be not-so-free but save money for school . . . LOL.

Then, years later, I got together with a bunch of friends and did hall parties and such in an "Oldies/Goldies" band, which was a real hoot. It's true, once you get the performing bug, it never really leaves you. Wink Folks used to just about fall over when I'd take the mic and do "When a Man Loves a Woman", LOLOL. (I didn't really need the mic . . . Whistling ) But eventually, I had no time for that either . . . *sigh* But at least all the years of voice lessons went to good use for a while, LOL.

Yikes Iris, good thing you weren't on the train or near the tracks when it went off! *shudder*

Eru, you might be your own worst critic. Sing for someone else and ask for an honest opinion. But if you really "can't sing", no worries. The girls are just as impressed by a guy who can make a guitar croon as well. Hint: Classical and Flamenco guitar are to die for . . . Wink

Yet another waiting game for yet another Build that we'll have to scramble to get tested under yet another tight deadline. *sigh* Not a happy camper here . . .

At least it is Friday, Scribbles. There is always that.

We didn't have any roadies, we were never large enough for that. Our sound guy would help out and the "ladies" of the other members of the band too. But mostly it was us doing all the work. I did get my voice back after a few years, but I can't sing more than two or three songs without having to rest now. Hey, the last ten years I did perform was with most an oldies band, we did more variety, but the variety was about the genre, not the age of the song. Wink And I sang many male songs...."Stand By Me" was one that raised eyebrows, and ....*wink* I barely needed a mic either, my voice boomed. I think that is what got me in trouble in the big picture. That and bad monitors.
Ah the days.

rwhen, going swillin' with the chickas tonight? I think we will watch the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown while we carve our pumpkins tonight. Big Grin

Eru, your siggies is great. Big Grin

Yuppers, Rose. Been smoking since I was 14. *nods* The doctor said that I got nodules on my vocal chords from straining when singing. They went away eventually from not singing, but I no longer have the "power" behind my voice. Well for about two minutes, then it is gone again.

It is all good, not needed except for our holiday celebrations and then I am one of 7 singing anyway.

Enjoy your time with Mica~Lynn. I am NOT swillin' with the chica's tonight. Going home and resting.

OK, the rest of you can sing and play, and I'll dance. Big Grin I only sing when everybody's drunk enough to give a damn how off note it goes. Although, I would love to take another class on Gregorian chant; in that, I felt that even I could stay in tune.

Its a TV show about the Naval Criminal Investigative Service. It is a night time drama that many of us enjoy watching. Abby of which we speak, is their Forensic Lab specialist and Ducky is the Forensic Pathologist (David McCallum of Man from Uncle fame). She is a goth with a brain and so funny and quirky. I just love her character.
