IN RL she probably wouldn't be allowed to dress that way, but she certainly makes the show interesting, doesn't she?
I like Ziva too.
I started to watch the other one, but I can't keep up with one, so I decided to not get attached. I don't even watch Cold Case much and I love that show too. The ones I really like come on late. I saw part of the first The Good Wife and thought it looked really good.

Actually Pauley is very much like Abby in some ways. She dresses quirky but usually something more old fashioned then goth. She does have tattoos but not the ones we see on tv on the show. She just got married on Valentines day this year to a guy that looks like someone Abby would definitely like. |

Welcome back. Hope your day won't be so busy that you're all knackered at the end of it.
My weekend was good and relaxing, and today, I had a moderate amount of work, which felt really strange after last week. |

Hey Rowan, well there IS a bunch to do today, I am sure that I will feel fairly knackered, but it really depends on the "attitudes" of everyone else about, I know you know what I mean. Work is work, enough. But personalities can just cause a simple task to become much harder than it has to be.
We shall see.
Glad you are home, one day down. |

Yes, I know what you mean.
And speaking about attitudes, I had a couple of moments today, because someone had forgotten to include me on a mailing list about some information I would have needed. You bet that it made me feel ignored, once again.
But, it's Reggaetón evening. |

Heelllooooooo!!!
rowanberry, I feel your pain. It's rude of your co-workers and dowright frustrating when that happens. Sometimes a very polite but very pointed e-mail works wonders . . . Have fun at class and just dance that stress away!
Yes, y'all guessed it, I'm waiting for yet another Build . . . *sigh* But today will be an easy one, I have only one defect to test and then I'm done. All that will remain then is to document my test results, which is time consuming but a light duty type chore, LOL.
The weather here this week is forecasted to be 'pleasant', for November that is. Daytime highs between 3C and 9C, night time lows between 0C and -2, and dry. Which means, none of that "S" stuff . . . Sorry Eru. Sooo, it looks like the Purple Bushes live to bloom for another week! Hehehe . . .
Now if I could just get that &%^$#@*!!&! Float skirting finished, I'd be happier . . .
to everyone . . . Later!
saunters out . . .

I guess I really have nothing to add but to say 'Hello' to everyone at the start of the week. I hope it's a good one. I'll send mental messages for all co-workers to behave themselves. It's been around 50 here, but the sun (that was out for a bit this morning) has vanished and it looks pretty gloomy.
My hubby said it would be helpful for him to learn to type on his new job.. (I offered years ago) so it looks as if we will be attempting that task. The old 'Type to Learn' disk that I have doesn't work in this operating system. It's too old I suppose, but I did find a few programs (for free!) online that might be helpful.

Hello all!!!
Glad you all have made it back in to say Hello as well.
We all survived the first of the holidays without too much trouble it seems. We had 7 trick or treaters and enjoyed them very much. Yesterday we actually had some sunshine so we went walking and even got some more yard stuff done to prepare for this coming winter. I think we are going to rip the bushes from the front of the porch and have that ground ready for spring to plant some new and better more friendly plants in there. I want to build a nice planter to dress up the front of the house. |

Scribbles, glad your day isn't too crazy today and that you will have some decent weather!!
Rose, learning to type later in life is a hard task for anyone, I wish Mark well on the endeavor. Also that it is getting gloomy there, here at least the sun is out, it is just cold. Hey I am looking at a neon "open" sign. It is very cool.
Vanadarlin', sweet that you got some sun to get some yard work done and I hope that you do get the planter that you want.
to all!!
Rowan, enjoy the dancing tonight. |

everyone!
I had an uneventful Halloween, I have two midterms this week and a paper due, so I had to stay home. Just wrote the math midterm this morning and I didn't feel that great about it.
Oh well, now it's over, I can concentrate on my other courses that I really enjoy.
It's raining here, *is envious of good weather*
Rose, typing is a good skill. Luckily we learned in school. My dad has to type a lot for work, but he still uses the two finger method and refuses to switch. *facepalm* |

HELLLOOOOOOO!!!!!
Sorry about the holiday Eru. (I think I wrote this on another thread too), but school is very important, vs going out to play and get some girls...erm, candy. Right, candy.
I learned how to type in the 8th grade, it has served me very well all these years. My brother also learned, but does the hunt and peck method still. Is it a man thing? |

I 'learned' typing in High School. And then after school I didn't feel my skills were sufficient so I enrolled in a typing class at the local technical college (hoping it would improve my employable skills) I could type
okay
. Then I worked for an insurance company for 10 years and they were always doing things where the employee could improve themselves if they wished to.. offering various classes. They offered one on typing skills that was a computer course. THAT is where I finally learned to type without looking at the keys. I think the computer courses are the best because they automatically keep track of what you need to work on and don't allow you to advance until you master it. It really helps with speed as well. I (tortured) my daughter with a computer course for typing but it eventually came more naturally once she started Instant messaging people.. and by then she had the basic keyboard skills, which *I* think helped a great deal.
Eru.. sorry to hear about the missed festivities, but your education does come first, that will last you a lifetime.
Vana.. are the bushes you have in front of your place now 'unfriendly'??

For surely. And next year when I can actually go to all the clubs and bars I got invited to, I can find a great costume.
Do you find that you have to delete a lot when you type? I find I make a lot of errors because I go so fast. |

Eru, it depends. I don't look at the keys, haven't for years. But the fact that you can backspace so easily over mistakes, DOES cause one to not be as careful.
I worked for Bank of America in the Trust department in the early 80's and there were no computers, every transaction had to be done in triplicate and on regular typewriters. I learned to be much more careful there.
But now with data entry and keyboards, it isn't nearly as critical.
Rose...LOL Yeah, tell us Vanadarlin'. |

I learned to type in high school, on a standard typewriter and our teacher was FIERCE about learning to "touch type". She caught you looking at the keys and you were dead . . But thanks to her, I managed to hit 100 wpm with about 2 mistakes on my Government test when I graduated, LOLOL. I'm still pretty fast but I agree with rwhen . . . being able to backspace over mistakes tends to make one a tiny bit sloppy . . .
Had an easy Monday (thank you Lord) and tomorrow will probably be the same. I have a dental appointment in the afternoon, so I'll go straight home from that, which means I may end up at home pretty early, hehehe.

Here's to early afternoons! *cheers!*
I'd agree with rwhen & Scribbles. I learned to type on an 'ordinary' old fashioned typewriter. Making errors was a nasssty, tedious business. I probably type faster now, I make errors, but quickly correct them.

100 WPM on a
typewriter
? Holy fast hands, Batman!
I've yet to try and type on one of those. I've always wanted to, and then to use carbon to make a

I am NOT surprised.
I took typing my senior year in high school. I must say, of all the classes I took, that one has been the absolutely most valuable one. We used electric typewriters and I learned to type without looking. I can type between 50-60 wpm most of the time (sometimes faster, sometimes slower, depending on the day.) I also play games on the internet designed to help you improve skills...typer shark is a favorite of mine.
Sunny but chilly here today. Welcome, November!

Well I took business machines in high school so I learned typing (by touch) as well as mimeograph machine. Gosh I don't know that any of them are even still in use to this day. But they were fun!!! For those who do not remember or do not know what a mimeograph machine is it is the precurser to the copier. The tough part was that you had to copy or write what you wanted copied onto this carbon paper pattern backwards and then put it in the machine to make your copies. The toner was a liquid activator fluid that stunk to high heavens.
Egads I feel old now!!!!
The bushes out front have some nasty little red berries in them and house all kinds of bugs and stuff. They are collectors of the trash when the wind blows and they are growing farther and farther out into the yard each year. I want to contain whatever plant grows out front so that it looks neat and tidy not overgrown. They don't flower just get these silly berries. I want something prettier. The landlord said I can do it if I want. She loves what I did in the back yard. |

HELLLLLOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!
Scribbles that is a great speed. I think I was clocked *on a manual typewriter* in the mid to upper 90's. On an electric (remember the Selectric - IMB? Seems that everyone had those by mid 60's), I improved.
Now, with puters and printers, it is so much easier.
Vanadarlin', oh I know the mimeograph. Every year of high school I was the English teachers aide. (Mrs. Wise, uh huh) and I had to use that stooofied machine, which I blame for not remembered much of my high school years. Or was it the drugs? NO NO most certainly the mimeograph.
See ya 'round like a doughnut. |

That would be the IBM Selectric and yes, I remember them well. I thought the revolving ball was the greatest thing since sliced bread and peanut butter, the thing NEVER jammed, which, when you're a fast typist, was a godsend. Then Olivetti came out with that electric "word processing' typewriter that had about 2k of memory in it, with this teeny little screen that most hand held calculators can beat these days, LOL. And does anyone remember the Wang? If the PC can be called anything, it can be rightfully labelled the Slayer of the Dedicated Word Processor, LOL.
I remember mimeograph machines from Grade School. Does anyone else remember that gel stuff? My mom used it for Girl Guides . . . you mixed up this liquid and poured it into a jelly-roll pan and let it set. Then you typed up whatever you wanted on this special paper, that had a special carbon in it. You then used the special carbon to transfer the type to the gel. To make copies, you simply wet the gel, put a clean piece of paper on it and rolled it. When you peeled it off, VOILA! A purple-ink copy! I think the gel was good for about 50 copies before it got too fuzzy to read . . .
Okay, that's far too much information that absolutely nobody is gonna want to know, LOL.
Vana, have you decided what you're going to replace that icky bush with yet? A Nanking Cherry or a Burning Bush might be nice . . . or a Double Flowering Plum . . . beeeeyoootiful in the spring when it's covered with pink pom-pom flowers . . .
Work is slower today, thankfully. But that means it's more tedious . . . how I hate documentation . . .
Later!

Not really Scribbles, I recall the gel stuff too. Oddly enough, the innovations that changed the way we do things seemed to happen all in about 5-10 years, all that went away.
I too loved the ball in the Selectric and also the correction tape that was IN the ribbon cartridge already.
Work slow? Is that a good thing or a bad thing? Will they let you leave if it is too slow? |

Vana, I don't remember ever using a mimeograph, but I do remember the copies made with one.
There were no typing classes at my school, but I took one at a private typing school, and yes, on an old fashioned typewriter, not even an electric one. It's been a useful skill, especially now that I type analysis reports for living, and spend most of my evenings hanging around and posting on messageboards.
Scribbles, if you're lucky with the weather, the Purple Bushes survive well until December. |

I never worked with a mimeograph but I DO remember the smell of them from grade school. I liked it. I would imagine like sniffing glue. It's probably a good thing I never had to learn to make mimeograph copies.
I think on an electric typewriter I could type about 70+ words a minute, accurately. But then, I did not regularly type on my job at the time.. and no one was typing on computers or message boards!

Morse Code would also be cool to know, while we're still on this subject.
What's an electric typewriter? |
