They were working together, you know.
Funny, like you're Russian therefore incapable of learning another language?

When the girls were small, I put that bad tasting stuff on their nails so that they wouldn't bite them. Apparently, it didn't taste bad enough. The older one still bites her nails. The younger one has learned to clip them.
Scribbles, the snow will hardly stay. It has already turned to sleet, and the temperature is above zero.
NL, sorry that you had a bad night, Hope this one will be better. |

rowan, I think I'm like that, none of those work on me. It's really a willpower thing. I remember a while ago, I just decided to stop, and did so for about a year, just like that. |

Bingo!!! My mother tried everything on me when I was little. Iodine (BLEH), then that clear stuff and I can't remember what all else. Strangely enough, it was only that when I realized how utterly gross and disgusting my hands looked (and that maybe the boys would notice that too ), I stopped. Just like that. Of course, I had my sister, who had gorgeous and beautifully manicured nails, to help me out. But I haven't bitten my nails since before High School, so stopping the habit is possible people!!
Tooks, I'm with ya there. Now if only I didn't have a mountain of crap to get through this weekend . . . *sigh*
On a brighter note, I just might be able to take Monday and Tuesday off, and Wednesday is a holiday sooooo . . .

I wholeheartedly hope that you can get those days free, Scribbles. You've been overworked lately! And, I also used to bite my nails as a kid, but at some point in my early teens, found enough motivation to stop. So, it is possible.
But now, I think that the call of the bed is getting all too strong. Have a nice weekend, TVMers, see you on Sunday or Monday! |

I don't think guys worry about how hands look so much as girls though.
My pastor chews his nails to the quick. It's part of his high-strung personality. That, and way too much caffeine.

Boy Howdy, it was a four day week for me and it feels like a 14 day week. I must not have come out of Vacation mode or something. But it's finally Friday and my weekend is looking good.
Scribbles, I'll keep my fingers crossed for your days off. You definitely deserve them. Heck, we ALL deserve them.
So, which winery are we going to first?
Take care all of ya Loons...

Huzzah!! I got the days off!!! Looks like the hot fixes that are going in Monday aren't going to affect the particular portion of the system that I usually test sooooo . . . Boy, thanks for all your positive vibes folks, looks like it worked!
And . . . the weather is supposed to be dry and somewhat warm.. Can't beat that with a stick.
Calma, that seems to be the way of 4 day weeks, they always feel like much longer. Sorry you had such a rough week, I hope you can kick back and enjoy your weekend.
Like rowanberry, I'm one pooped pooch. I think I'm going to crawl into bed with what's left of my tea and watch the last bit of POtC and then pass out.
Have a good one! See y'all tomorrow . . .

IDIOTS!!!
What is it with people and driving in the rain?
It's a deluge up here today. Raining cats and dogs it is and I have to drive into Bremerton only a 20 minute drive from here by freeway. Actually, I can only go by freeway to get there from here...
Going toward Bremerton I get behind idiot #1 doing 35 miles an hour up a small hill and holding up traffic behind him/her. Going down the other side, puts on the brakes and comes almost to a stop in the middle of the hill... Damn near caused a chain reaction wreck with me in the middle. Then he decides he's going to move into the far left lane, turns on the blinker (a plus for that one, folks) then takes his/her own sweet time to take the lane. Meanwhile the car behind me decides he's had enough and goes around me to get into the lane the idiot wants in. Idiot moves over just as the car passes me and has to slam on his brakes to keep from hitting the idiot.
He turns off towards Belfair and I'm free of him.
I get my business done in Bremerton and head on home. Coming out of Gorst and heading up the hill in an area that's 60 mph I encounter idiot #2 doing 35 mph... Ok I know it's absolutely drenching out, but come on 35? Drop your speed down to maybe 50, but 35? I can't get around him because all the traffice behind me is passing us... We finally crest the hill and he slams on his brakes...
It's only rain, people. Cut your speed and for the love of Mike keep your foot off the brakes... If you're afraid to drive in a downpour... DON'T!
Stay home and let the rest of us drive without fear of finding you on the road.
[/rant]
Have a nice day... |

Welp...Saturday is almost over already. I gots lotsa work done around the house, taking the mutt with me so he wasn't in his confinement area.
Tomorrow I have to get out of the house for a bit though.
It seems bad weather brings out the idiot drivers. Like the ones going up a snowy hill, and all of a sudden they stop dead....so you have to stop dead behind them. And then neither of you can get going again.
...Or the ones who PULL RIGHT OUT IN FRONT OF YOU GOING UP A SNOWY HILL SO YOU HAVE TO SLAM ON YOUR BRAKES!!!!
Thankfully...no snow here yet (hi Scribbles!!!). It did frost last night though.

I thought that putting nail-polish on my nails would make me stop biting them, but nope... No matter how much I realise it's probably poisonous, it bite first and think later...
It's not so bad that my fingers get disfigured, though, and, with respect to catching diseases, I luckily have no wish to bite my nails when I'm not at home - as soon as I'm in public, I kinda feel my hands aren't clean...which is probably a case for therapy in itself ...but at least I don't want to put them in my mouth then.
As to the Swine Flu, the debate here has recently been about upcoming vaccinations. Lots of confusion about the how's and why's here. Meh.
So I hope you are all enjoying the weekend!?
It's colder here than it need be for my taste, but I saw a lovely waning moon hanging low and heavy and mellow in the sky tonight. |

Hi Tooks! No snow here either! For which I am eternally grateful, I have to get out into the yard tomorrow and see how Purple Bush is doing, LOL. Kudos on getting lots of work done, all I managed to do was clean all the bathrooms. The rest will wait until Monday.
Calma, I hear you and I'm sure I've ended up behind the same idiot up here too. Makes one wonder how the laws of natural selection missed that guy . . .
The trailer skirt is finished!! All freaking 82 feet of it! And boy, am I tired . . . I'll put piccies up tomorrow.
I'll be enjoying my weekend now, truehobbit. No more sewing until Monday. *nods*
Have a great evening y'all.

Scribbles, wonderful news about the completion of the skirt, but more so the days off. Have a well deserved rest...
Tooks, I know from idiot snow drivers, too. While here we don't have the winters you or Scribbles, or Wenchie have, when we get a little bit of the white stuff, the people here go absolutely ba-zonkers. They flock to the nearest grocery and buy it out and they think they can drive the roads like it was the middle of July...
Strange folk indeed.
I never did bite my nails. They still aren't the most glamorous of hands, but that's from years of food service work.
Give Ranger a hug and pet for me, Tooks. Hope he's not going stir crazy on you...

Hooray for a long weekend for Scribbles!
Calma, are you sure that those drivers weren't so drunk that they would have been in a ditch if they'd driven faster, or something? On the other hand, I've driven in such a rain that I couldn't see the rear lights of the car before me, although it wasn't very far ahead, and then, the only possibility was to drive very slowly. I don't think that was the case for you, though? And, driving in snow - don't some people EVER learn?
Well, my weekend is passing all too quickly. Had a good time at the theatre, though. And, the snow is almost gone, a couple of days with temperatures above zero have taken care of that. |

No, not drunk. At least I don't think so. But what do I know from those who have that trouble? I guess they could be soused at 10 in the morning, but in this case I don't think they were DUI. No one was in front of them either. They just got all freaked out about the downpour is all. |

Two days to go.
I'm in a pre-departure frenzy. Bought a BIG suitcase (which will be going to Oz half-empty; I'm reserving some place for souveniers and things I may be buying over there). Bought more gifts. Way too many gifts. One of them is from a magic tricks shop, a tricky box that doesn't open unless you know exactly what you're doing. I'm going to put one of the gifts in there, and watch the victim struggle to get it out! |

Thats evil ST, I like it !!
I have never understood biting nails....don't you people know the germs you are putting in your mouths that are under your finger nails *shudder* maybe if you think about that you will think twice about doing it
Calma - I have one word for you 'merging'
Whats worse than what you experienced...people merging on the motorway from an on ramp!! My god, the amount of people who do NOT know how to merge properly and slam on their brakes in panic or drive so slowly into traffic speeding along at the speed limit instead of increasing their own speed to drift into line, which makes all the other cars slam on their brakes... Happens nearly every day. Merge like a zip people!!!! |

Oooh, pre-big-journey excitement - I know what you mean, story! W00t for you!
(Take care you don't take more than customs allows, though... )
Scribbles, look forward to the pics of the skirt!
Tyg, but, they're all
my
germs - my body knows them already.
Plus, that would mean that you also never eat with your fingers, never lick your fingers after having eaten something nice... Can that be?
Licking your fingers after nice food is soooo good.
Rowan, what did you see at the cinema?
I'm celebrating - my Legolas won "Man of Middle-earth"!

Got all my ironing done today. Not too shabby. Dragged everything downstairs to stay with the dog.

Storyteller, you're my kind of cruel, LOL. I hope you get everything done you need to before your big day!
Tyg, you named my number two traffic peeve . . . folks who don't understand what "merge" means. *sigh* My number one driving peeve is the folks who absolutely will not use their signal lights. "Um, bubba, I'm good, but I DON'T READ MINDS!!" Sheesh. Sorry for shouting but it just burns my biscuits the way folks just expect you to KNOW they're suddenly turning that corner
right
in front of you.
Tooks, sounds like Ranger is well on the mend, which is good news all 'round. Hope you can get your Christmas x-stitch project done in time. The one I did took 2 1/2 years, LOL.
. . . takes a helping of lobster and a flute of champagne . . . toasts truehobbit's victory . . .
Congrats truehobbit! And of course, you'll pass on appropriate kudos to Legolas too, yes?
Oookay, trailer trash, I mean . . . Trailer Skirting pictures as promised . . . sorry they're so crappy, but I was so tired . . .
Skirting, anyone?
... I had to work this thing in sections, before putting on the white trim (which was in nice 4 foot increments, LOL). I pleated each section, then joined them with a nice flat fell seam, and *then* sewed the trim on last. It was hilarious, I had piles of this thing on every chair in the dining room . . .
Jumbo Roll
... Yes, that's 82 finished, linear feet in that thar roll. For the metric folks, that's about 25 metres (24.99 to be exact). You can juuuust make out the pleating on the underside . . .
Box o' Skirting
... Yes, it completely fills a large copy-paper box.
Skirting 2
... Just another view of the unrolled end of the finished behemoth, LOL.
Have a great Sunday evening folks!
wanders off to see about some dinner . . .

One more day to go. In about 28 hours from now I'll be on my way to the airport
Everything bought. Suitcase half-packed. The room looks like it's survived a Mongol horde invasion. |
