The best peppermint tea I've had is from that company I can't think of the name of (later for that) that makes a white tea with peppermint, fancifully titled "Christmas Morning." At least I think that's the one. Anyway, I rarely eat or drink mint at all because it ruins the taste of anything else for quite a while afterwards, but on second thought, what better diet aid can there be than something that prevents you from unnecessarily stuffing your face? Or eating too fast? Big Grin

And besides, mint is good.

That sounds good. I'll look for it. Had a good raspberry tea this morning, though I found a tea last night with peppermint in it. It was called Tension Tamer, though Celestial Seasonings seems to love putting chamomile in every one of their teas. But it was just the right blend, and I liked it. It didn't have the soapy taste of the chamomile tea that I had the night before.

Morwenna.. is it Stash tea? It's a black tea blend.

I have to be careful with mint. I love chocolate mint cookies.. but once I got sick on peppermint (when I had a miscarriage) and so mint is kinda touch & go with me.

I like tea very much, and dislike coffee.

In hot weather, I drink large amounts of sun-brewed decaffienated tea. In cold weather, I drink herbal or decaffienated tea, hot. For hot tea, I like the spicy flavors, with cinnamon, etc.

We have an "Instant hot water" spigot on our kitchen sink. Water comes out at about 190 F and brews tea very well, so I seldom use a pot. I like it so strong that I do not usually re-use tea bags or leaves (in a tea ball).

I mentioned Tension Tamer a ways back CR . . . and I agree that CS has quite a love affair with chamomile, but the Tension Tamer has so many other great things in it, I never taste the chamomile, LOL.

I did check on the Lemon Chamomile, and it is indeed a Tetley tea, although they seem to be going away from the round boxes . . . Sad

Hubby bought a Blueberry Tea from Second Cup. He looooooves Blueberry anything but I haven't tried the tea yet. Maybe tomorrow . . . Wink

Rose, you're right, it is Stash, but the box doesn't look quite like that. I'll have to look for mine again. but i'm almost sure mine isn't yellow. Different year, different variety, maybe? I'm not at home right now.

I love Blueberry too.. but I had some blueberry tea (that I bought at a coffee shop.. I don't know what brand it was) that smelled heavenly but tasted.. awful. It reminded me of juniper or something (the taste) I couldn't finish the cup... but I left it in my car for the day because it smelled just lovely!

Ah, yes. Blueberry. I just finished a cup of Lipton White Tea in the blueberry and pomegranate flavor. It was real good.

And Rose, what you said about that tea you tried I think about coffee. It smells wonderful, but I just could never get used to the taste.

C-R.. .that's not to say ALL blueberry tea tastes bad.. just the stuff I had didn't taste good. It didn't taste like it smelled at all.

Lasse-lanta! Welcome.. and I grow melissae folium in my garden. I've never made it into a tea/tisane plain, but I've added it to my tea. Us hobbits just call it 'Lemon balm'. Wink

Of course, that's not what I meant. It was that tea you had that you didnt' like, not all blueberry tea. Sorry for the confusion.

Does anyone recommend any good morning, waking-up teas? Will any tea with caffeine do?

Well, English Breakfast would be one. I'm not sure what would be a stronger wake-up tea. Any suggestions, anybody?

The hot cinnamon spice tea I have, seriously, is the most flavorful tea I have ever had.. with no bitterness. It is strong. I cannot imagine anyone not liking it.. unless they don't like cinnamon, of course. Or if they really don't like tea at all.

Tea and bickies. Yup, I'm in!! Big GrinBig GrinBig Grin

I've grown Lemon Balm in years gone by, I never knew you could dry it and make tea. LOL, you learn something new every day in here. Must try that again next summer . . . Wink

I've decided to cut my evening tea consumption in half and see if that will help with waking up less during the night to . . . you know . . . Embarrassed

Speaking of sleep . . . time for some of that too.

I do indeed, Ovambo Tee - which is a Rooibos Vanilla by Messmer. The tea doesn't keep me awake, but drinking an entire pot makes me wake up far too often to take night trips to the lavatory. Wink

And my experiment was a success. I drank only 1/2 pot (about 2 mugs instead of 5) and didn't wake up once last night needing to, well, you know. Wink

I've heard that wild mint will spread like nobody's business too. I want to plant some but have been warned that I'll be cursing it in a year or two. *shrugs*

I find Earl Gray to be a good wakeup tea as well. Smile

If mint in the garden has a place it "likes" it will spread like crazy. However, in the past we have planted it in the ground in a one-gallon pot with the bottom cut out, and put it near a garden spigot, and it did very well. It did not spead.

Here, it is very vigorous, but the cold weather makes it die back, so It does not spread very much. Peppermint is much the same. I didn't try spearment when we were in a warmer area, but here it does pretty well in summer and dies back.

Aahhh Scribbles.. I gettcha now! Wink

I agree with portia. I've grown mint (I have a chocolate mint plant) and if it likes where it is it will spread like crazy, like many herbs. I have two spots where I grow my mint, both of them 'contained'. One is in a 1/2 whiskey barrel, the other is in a planter that my hubby built into the side of our outdoor stairs.. it is lined with gravel and the mint stays in place.

I will be moving all of my aggressive herbs to such containers... oregano comes to mind..

Decadence: Before I moved in upstairs from my best friend (around 30 years ago) I came into her place one rainy November evening, to be greeted with a cup of hot Earl Grey tea with rum in it.

I've never forgotten, and I've never let her forget it either. Smile

I, too, would love to find out where you get that tea, Scribbles. All this talk about tea reminds me of a song I learned when I was a child. I just can't resist doing it here:

I'm a little teapot
Short and stout,
Here is my handle,
Here is my spout.
When I get all steamed up
Hear me shout!
Just tip me over,
Pour me out.

OK.. so I asked at the Post Office if I could send tea in the mail.. the lady looked at me and said, 'Yes'.. and I said.. 'They won't think it's something else?' .. she laughed and said no. I don't know if she was aware that I might only be sending small amounts of loose tea in a baggie... Whistling I'll find out tomorrow when I send an envelope with some in it.

Who is going to be the lucky recipient? Hmmm....
