The House of Queen Berúthiel - The Cat-Lovers Guild (Part 3)

The varied peoples of Middle-earth at times found unity in their pursuits, and all too often experienced deep rifts. Engage in lively conversations as we banter about the differences between the Alliances, and recruit for our People as well. Remember, keep it friendly.

The House of Queen Berúthiel - The Cat-Lovers Guild (Part 3)

Postby Calma » Sat Jun 12, 2010 7:17 am

Since the last Guild was nearing its end, I have cleaned the litter box and opened the doors to the new home for the furry creatures who own our hearts.

Welcome one and all who love cats.
You don't need to own a cat to join in the discussions.
You merely need to love them.

All are welcome.
So pull up a warm spot in the sun and help yourself to a bowl of milk.

Meow's and purrs to you all!

Iris wrote:New post to add that kitty got a home...Rob took him (I figured he would!) His name is Pharaoh. Actually, I suggested Boy George because of the dark eye "makeup." That didn't go over. Rob's son suggested Franken-doodle (must be a 17 year old thing). I also tried out Set and Pyewacket, neither of which went over very well. So, Pharaoh it is. :)

Pharaoh is a good name.
Glad he found a home.

The kitty is doing great. :) He's a stinky kitty, though...wow, he can clear a room! We think it might be his food...that will be easier to deal with than parasites at this point.

My kitteh's are doing fine.
They are being a couple of little princesses..
But that's the way they were raised.

Is China still taking care of her fish? :D

Iris, how's Pharaoh adjusting to his new home?
Better yet, how is Rob adjusting to his new home?

Pharaoh owns the place, Rob is just a tenant. :P We got him some litter, food and a brush and a collar (breakaway) last night. It took him about a half hour, but he unbuckled the collar and left it laying beside the kitchen door. (He couldn't pull it off, oh no, he had to unbuckle it!) Rob wants him to have a collar with a small ID tag in case he gets out. (I know, microchipping would be better, but we just don't have the money at the moment...we still have to get him neutered!) Rob has an old couch he's going to get rid of soon (I hope) and it's upended in his living room. Pharaoh thinks it's his own, personal climbing gym. He climbed up there last night and did his "ferocious mountain lion" routine...and wasn't happy that we were laughing at him.

I got a call from Okun's vet Friday while driving to Johnstown. I have to up his insulin AGAIN! He wanted to go to 5 units twice a day but I asked if we could try 4 1/2 first. Especially since we're going to be changing insulin soon and will have to start the adjusting/testing thing all over again. If I had it all to do over again, I'd have picked a vet who lives closer, but at the time I had no idea what was wrong with him.

Calma, I tried to raise my cats to be a prince/princess and it worked...they both order us around and we're their servants!

China is doing well with her fishes, Calma. Thank you for asking. She has 7 males and one female now. When I feed them she is quite attentive.... sometimes I think she is hoping I will give her one for dinner after feeding them theirs. :roflmbo:

She is not a princess but a DIVA and her name tag says so. Her bling reminds everyone that she is very important and that we are HER entourage!

We got an automatic feeder for while we are on vacation and she sits and stares at it like...... "Okay I am ready so you can spit out my food anytime now!!" I have it set for every twelve hours.  She will get used to it. I cant believe they have clear hoppers so that she can see the food..... to me that would be like putting my favorite dessert under glass that I can not get to. :pull: :bang: :woah:

Cute! :)

By following the kitten's (cubs, it should be cubs, not kittens) movement, do they include every time they tumble over those big paws? ;)

:lmbo: :lmbo:

This had me in stitches....

Hope you enjoy it.

This weekend marks the 18th anniversary of our little goo kitteh's arrival into our home and lives.
She was immediately dubbed Snowball by our youngest and was christened "Lady Snowball S. Chancenell".
She has brightened our lives and we have been fortunate to have her with us.

Love you, Goo-Kitty.

Liquorice has had her kitten. It's only about five and a half hours old and it's tiny. I'm trying to call it Smaug because my little brother said it looks like a lizard or Tinuviel because it's dark like Luthien's hair but my family don't agree and I doubt they'll let me.

The kitten died. It had a wound on its back and I'm not sure Liquorice was looking after it properly. It didn't feed much and wasn't getting stronger.

Thank you for that bit of hope there basil dear!!! It is a truly AWWWW moment!! :D

Lebasi I am sorry about the kitten but there may have been something very wrong with the baby and nature has a way of natural selection. I will hope that next time, if there is one, your kitty will do better as a mom and the kittens will thrive. :D Though I must encourage you to get your kitty spayed so that there wont be any unwanted kitties left to have to wander or be put down for lack of a home. At least after the next litter, if you insist on her having kittens.

We lost our female fish the other day. We don't know why but she died so we have adopted another male. This one is a Delta Tail and he is shimmery with a touch of yellow and pale blue green. He thinks he is all that and constantly is showing off to the other males so that he can be the dominant. :roflmbo: The other fish look at him like "Get a life man, none of us rules the roost. China is the boss!" So now we have 8 males all in half moon tanks above my computer.

Vana we hope she won't have more kittens. We never intended to let her have it in the first place but she managed to escape while she was in season before we could get her spayed, which we will do soon. Still it's not good that the kitten died. Thanks for your concern everyone.

Sorry to hear about your fish but glad the new one's settling in. I hope he realised who's in charde soon.

Basil, those pictures are beautiful. It's good that the cats of Afghanistan have hope.

All hail Lirimaer, provider of food!!!

I got home from my morning job, and as I was going in Liri decided it was time to go out. So out she went. Lan went to take Tuon for a walk a half hour later and found a dead pigeon sitting on the porch. :Q Meanwhile, Liri comes trotting inside with a very satisfied look on her face. We've found dead birds in the courtyard before, but never on the porch and never as big as a pigeon.

In a related story, Wiggles has added a new word to her vocabulary: kitty. This joins hi, yeah, woof, mama, daddy, and a version of the word fish.

She became very ill and lost so much weight and couldn't no longer control herself so we put her down.

This has not been a good summer.

I love you Little Goo.

 for you Calma. :( It's always sad to lose a member of the family, but at least you know she had a nice long life that was full of love.

I'm not sure why Liri has started bringing us stuff now. She didn't when I was pregnant with Wiggles, so go figure. I do remember when she was younger and a katydid type bug got into my room somehow at night. I woke up in the middle of the night because it was on my bed, alive, and Liri was watching it and batting at it but making no move to do anything else with it. I eventually caught it in a cup and took it outside. Mostly because I didn't want to share my bed with it. :P
