The Technological Singularity of our time

**Short Definition

The technological singularity – also, simply, the singularity[1] – is a hypothetical future point in time when technological growth becomes uncontrollable and irreversible, resulting in unfathomable changes to human civilization

This isn't really a controversial topic, but for me it is a very interesting one.

Often times people do not realize they are living in the midst of great change. It starts out small..then fundamentally changes the way humans live in the world...

We have seen this many many times throughout history..starting with flint and rock or rubbing sticks together, to make fire portable. The sharing of this knowledge made it possible to go on extended trips in cold weather, without fear of keeping a flame lit all the time.

The Wheel..we all know how that changed everything

The written language, printing press, electricity, steam engines, ...then a little thing crept up on the horizon, a thing called a computer. It started out clunky and only governments had access to the kind of money that could build one. Then the computer chip came on board in the early 60's and the change in our world started to accelerate...by the 70's-80's clunky, but smaller computers were starting to infiltrate schools and entertainment..

Chips became smaller, faster, cheaper and it exploded, computers are everywhere..in our homes, cars, phones you name it..it's there. With nano tech, IA and Virtual reality is becoming a very real "thing"...In the past 150 years, we have gone from horse drawn carriages, to manned space flights, being able to talk to anyone in the world and any time and look them in the face while doing it. We have fundamentally changed the way we communicate, travel and live in such profound ways, that people of the past would think we were magicians.

The law of Exponential Growth and the theory of Accelerated Technology posits these changes will get faster and faster and are accelerating at such a rate that the world as we know it will be changed entirely in the next 50 years. It's truly a fascinating time to live in..when history is being made at this speed...sometimes it's scary, other times it's marvelous...but it's so worth observing and reading about...

What will we do in the future with this? Thoughts?

another very interesting take

And a very scary step...Alexa after analyzing data put into it from an extreme data put into a Wiki page and not built for human reason, compassion, feeling etc...suggests beating hearts are the problem and that the listener should kill herself for the greater good.

Now imagine Alexa has access to weapons...hmmmmmm Skynet anyone?
