Just a bump to remind everyone that Saranthir's "source" has always been suspect.

(Don't mean to pick on you, old friend, but you have never explained these obvious errors and inconsistancies)

The plot thickens....

Well, whatever else may be the case, "Celeborn, bad" certainly nailed it! <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>

Bernd - no problem at all, my friend <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0>

Jersey backed this up long ago, you must have missed it. What appears to have happened is that my source saw a cut of the movie with these things still in place. Some will be restored to the SE DVD.

It was he who said first that the log scene with Gollum behind the Fellowship had been shot. His analysis of Celeborn was er, entirely accurate. He knew about the New Line screening before it was announced in the press. He knew the Balrog would be shown in Cannes when even Jersey thought that unlikely. The list goes on and on, and where he has appeared inconsistant or wrong, months later we find out that he was accurate.

Still, if you want to disbelieve, then fair enough. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

Bernd, I would think it's obvious from reading the review now that Saranthir's source saw a lot of footage that was cut and is now back on the SE DVD. So much doubt and mistrust!

Gollum behind the log really should have stayed in the theatrical version. I know I've said this eighty times now but WHY GOD WHY???///

I still find your source suspect, Saranthir <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0> No offense meant.
I no longer feel the orc chase and Gollum bits to be so suspect, however. What I find odd are the things that I saw in the theater that didn't happen as your source says they did. For instance:

'although the clash of swords and the spell were a bit overdone perhaps – Frodo was excellent.'

What clash of swords? What did Frodo do at the Ford?

'And the last scene is that of Frodo and Sam slipping across the river, followed by something in the water.'

How could this be? If that was so, then the final scene with Frodo and Sam looking at Mordor could never have happened.

Still, I am for some reason more inclined to accept your source as legit than I ever have been, Saranthir. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0> I don't know why, but I am!
