FT:
Go to Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools, and to Character Map. From there you can choose any symbol you want. If character map isn't one of the options in System Tools you must install it.

Go to Start, Settings, Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, Windows Setup. If "System Tools" is checked, and you do not have a character map, click on the System tools and click "Details". You will then be able to check/uncheck character map. Make sure it is checked, and click ok. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

If you need any more help, feek free to ask. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>
Nilson

An easy way to type "accented" vowels (á, é, etc.) is:

Ctrl + Alt + vowel

Hey presto!
<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

Just to make you a little jealous: Some of the obscure signs are actually on foreign keyboards. You can find these on a German one for example:
ö,ä,ü (which are simple vowels for us)
§ ° ^ ` ´ * ~ # | € (I'm sure you'll have most of those somewhere on your keyboards as well)
Okay, Mr Frodo Took! I may be a computer moron <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0> but at least half the problem is the computer. I think I have managed to install character map off the disc onto my PC. So...how do I use it? I've tried CTRL+Alt+ a vowel (as Berhael suggested)and I get nothing! And...you said you keep character map minimized which means it shows up somewhere when you want to use it!!!!!! WHERE!!!!!! I'm feeling way way way stoopid and I'm not. Don't give up on me...and yes Nilson was kind not to growl. You don't know how long it took me to find out I could install it from the CD. I'm trying. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

I made a shortcut to the character map on my desktop.

Also, if there's a character you use a lot, you can memorize the code for it. For example, for "é" hold down the "Alt" key and type "0233".

To find the keystroke for any particular letter or symbol open the character map, choose a letter and look in the bottom right corner. You will see something like this: Keystroke: Alt+0233.
