Shae looked up her through the sun-kissed canopy above the forest in which she was traveling. She had been traveling for days now and knew she must be close enough that she might make it to an inn in a day or so. She urged her black steed, Knight, to pick a faster pace for making it there in faster time would please her.<BR><BR>As her horse sped into a canter she noticed the quitness in the forest and began to feel unconfortable. Though she was more toward the outskirts of the forest, making it easier to escape, she was tense on the thought of some other presence.

There was suddenly a noise in the trees along the path. A horse ran through the trees going in front of Shae. A Elf maiden soon came through the tree after the horse. She stopped before the rider, shocked to see anyone else in the forest.

Shae was annoyed. Knowing of another to be so close to her made her reach for her sword. As the adrenaline ran through her body like and arrow piercing the heart she slowed her steed and watched as the stranger came closer...

Laurelelf emerged from the woodland, also seeming rather surprised at the presence of others in the quiet forest. The intruders seemed alarmed at her arrival, probably because she was particularly scruffy for an elf and her quiver and arrows were in a disgustingly dusty state, but she was more concerned by Shae's aggressive posture. <BR> "Um, hello," she said, and, in an attempt to keep the peace, "Who are you?"

"Gee this forest is getting crowded!", said Durfindel, seeing the other Elf.

"I wouldn't know," replied Laurelef politely. "I'm just passing through." Rather intimidated by Durfindel's elegant appearance beside her own untidy state, she asked "Are you lost?"

Shae relaxed a bit just to ease the tension that had worked its way through her body. Her gaze narrowed at the sight of all who had abbruptly come upon her. As she looked about her she noticed an almost frightened face and decided to ease up a little. <i>Why of so many come upon me like this in this forest at the same of day? Never have I witnessed so many...</i>

" Hello! and who might you be?" she said looking at the rather scruffy Elf. "I wasn't expecting to see anyone in this wood. And certianly not two Elves! Well I guess I might as well introduce my self. I'm Durfindel of Lothlorien. I am traveling through here with my sister Elenadil". Durfindel gave a bird like call and a Elf came out of the woods beside her. "This is my sister Elenadil, the daughter of Galadriel and princess of Lothlorien".

Elenadil heard her sister's call so she walked out of the woods. She was very surprised to see two other Elfs. She walked over to Durfindel as she introduced her. "Hello," Elendal said to the other Elfs. She then turned to Durfindel and whispered," I thought you said no one else would be in these woods."

Shae shot the new comer a quike glance and then back to the other two ladies. <BR><BR><i>My name is Shae Hyramendaciel and I am trying to come to an inn to look for a quest or adventure. Im not looking for trouble nor evil. I just come for a quest that may pay or give me a thrill. And you are...</i> Shae looked in the direction of the elf almost directly next to her.<BR><BR>

"I am Laurelelf," replied the elf simply. "And I will join you on your quest for adventure, if you'll have me. Greetings, Durfindel of Lothlorien and Princess Elenadil." She turned again to Shae. "You seem...edgy. Why are you so tense?"

A tall woman stepped out from behind a tree. She was dressed in simple forest garb and bearing a long staff, which she was gripping menacingly. "What are you doing here?"<BR><BR>"We..."<BR><BR>"You're trespassing, that's what! This forest is under my care, by order of Yavanna and Orome the Valar!!! I'm Earie, and I say no one rides in this forest without my leave." Her voice was stern and comanding.

"Lady Earie, I am sure they meant no harm," a voice offered from a nearby tree. An elven lad of uncertain age climbed down and made a quick bow to the newcomers. "I am Anno," he turned back to Earie. "They are not our enemies," he said softly. "I am sure they will be quick in their journey through the wood-" a look from Earie told Anno he had overstepped his bounds and presumed too much. "Your pardon," he said quickly. "But perhaps they could help us? As punishment for trespassing and payment for safe passage?"

Shae looked at the two with a very confused expretion but she was burning with anger. Anger for she wasn't trespassing for she was on the outskirts. This meaning she was not in the forest. Yet if it were her forest she would also accuse. <BR><BR>As she scanned the group that had come around her in such time she looked at all faces. Only one male. How interesting. But this didnt bother her. What had bothered her was there was going to be a fight and she didnt know who was on her side or not. Helping anyone for paybacks was out of the question. She didnt pay anything back unless it was deserved. Though many were about she was very unconfortable. <BR><BR>Shae urged her steed to step forward and began <i>Are outskirts of this forest within?</i>Shae said this with almost a smart but sarcastic grin.

Laurelelf shrugged and turned away. She did not trust Shae's temper and the newcomer was obviously irritated; it seemed there would be an argument, and she hated arguments. Anno seemed like the peaceful sort, though, and he had a kind face. The princesses just seemed confused. "Our apologies, Lady," she said to Earie. "We would be delighted to help you..." feeling Shae's glare, she said "Well, I'm sure most of us would."

Anno smiled, relieved. "Well that's good." Earie walked off a short distance to consider. "We've had intruders less pleasant than you ladies," he said. "That's why she's so worried. Something's going wrong from inside the forest. She won't let me go by myself to find out, but maybe she'd let you come with me? I warn you though, I have no idea what it is, only that it's out of place."

"I'd willingly come with you, if she'd let me," replied Laurelelf, "and i'm sure most others here would be delighted to accompany you." If they can hold their tempers, she thought, and ventured another anxious glance at the fiery Shae.

Earie frowned. "Don't even consider it, Anno. This is something I have to handle. I'm waiting for a sign from Yavanna. She will aide us, just as she always has. No one knows the way to the inner forest anyway, not even me." She frowned and turned to look up at the trees. "Only Yavanna knows..."

"But if we wait, this could spread! And..." Anno's voice trailed off, then he spoke again. "Maybe this is a sign? Maybe she's sent them to help us?"

"We'll help! Everyone hear seems brave, and elves are famous for having a terrific sense of direction, so we won't get lost. Most people here are seeking adventure, so what have we got to lose?" Laurelelf was figiting in excitement and curiosity.

"No!" Earie turned and scowled. "I have been gaurding this forest since the begining of time. The trees and animals bring me news and give me signs. They have spoken to me many a night since the threat first appeared. They said 'Do not now, for the sign will come on the fifth day in a form that none will guess.' It is only the fourth day, and you have guessed the Elves. Thus it cannot be!"

Anno sighed. "Then we wait for the sign?" It was clear that he wished to say more and wanted to go find the cause of the- strangeness- in the forest, but would abide by Earie's decision.

Earie nodded. "Without a sign, we will not suceed. You know this as well as I do. It has always been that way."

Laurelelf glanced at Anno inquisitively, dying to know what he was hiding but reluctant to push him. "Well, then, let's camp here tonight," she suggested, "and wait for the sign tomorrow. May we have permission to camp in your forest?" ahe asked, remembering her manners.

A great crashing noise interrupted them, and a terrified whinny of a horse. They all looked to the direction of the sound, and a great black steed, riddled with many arrows, came galloping through the forest, barebacked and bloody. A high whistle followed it, and the horse stopped, turning its head. It's chest was still heaving and its eyes were wide with terror, but it stilled for a moment as a tall, strange elf dashed out onto the clearing. Her clothes were ripped and torn, and she had an arrow in her side as well. Blood ran down her face in heavy rivulets, but the she-elf only wiped it away from her eyes.<BR>She came to the horse and sobbed.<BR><BR>"Blackstar, my lovely Blackstar... I failed you, and everyone." She noticed the others in the clearing, and gasped, backing away.<BR><BR>"Who... who are you! What.. oh, no... Nienna, protect me!" The strange elf falls to her knees, clutching at the arrow in her side, and those nearest see that her eyes are glazed with fever. The arrow was green-fletched, and most likely poisoned. The she-elf moaned, and fell forward onto her stomach, her eyes rolling back into her head. The horse let out a terrified cry and lept over her and back the way it came.

Earie gasped. "By the valar!" She rushed forward and turned the Elf over. She then hung her head and turned away.

(sorry for acting so hot tempered<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>)<BR><BR><BR>Shae looked at everybody that was in the clearing. Being rude and hot tempered wasnt like her and she knew she had been worrying many. Hot tempered she was only for the evil she left behind. The sooner she found a quest the sooner she could shy off the evil in her past. But to fight and defeat an evil would give her much pleasure. Hearing that something wasnt right in the forest gave her a thrill. <BR><BR>As a she-elf followed into the group she looked to be very close to death. Shae slid off the horses back and approched the elf. As she looked at the arrow she noticed it was poisened. She knew of this only because her long ago friend had died from an arrow similar. This scared the her and she began to feel the blood file her veins. <BR><BR><i>We must get help for the arrow is killing her! </i> Shae looked in Anno's direction for he looked as if he could help...
