The Kings voted about them and they were disbanded. Since then, they live spreaded over ME like outlaws, only welcome in lands where no one, or no friendly one, rules.
One of the kings, who always believed in their innocance, wants to reunite them.
The former members, all surviving on their own way, will be needed to prevent ME's next great catastrophy.

The reason why the king wants them to reunite is the theft of a bridle, beautifully decorated with silver and gold, that has no effect on the noble but attrackts the greedy.
It was found a few years after the war of the Rings, but it seemed useless because they hadn't been able to find one horse that wanted to wear it. They all seemed scared of it. So it ended up in the attic, and was forgotten.
The bridle belonged to the horse of the Mouth of Sauron.

Link to the Story
The reunion of the NightGuards - ME's secret army

Interested in joining? NO need to start sending me emails with grand ideas already though, there will be plenty of time left to discuss things once we reach the point in the story where new writers can join. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

Thanx,
The NightGuards RP-gang <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

Well, can i just say that i wish my character to be good on the surface but, sneaky, behind the scenes like with helping people smuggle things through the gates etc, for a fee, I'm sure you get the point <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0> <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>

Tyg xxx

Great! we don't all have to be goodies.

I've a good heart but have been banished from Mirkwood 500 years ago (but my charactor archive is not complete yet, I haven't come up with a good reason why I was banished).

Hey mind if an old NightOwl joins here for a wee bit? I'm a Telerian elf who was disinherited by an evil man in Diadron. I'm rough, tough Princess material with a strong heart.

Hmm, maybe we could better just start the real RP already, and see where we end up. Maybe we could start in our headquarters or so, where we have a gathering. Hands up if you think we should start the game already !
Post ideas please !
BTW, we need a good thread-title...

That's the problem, Maldeloth. Nobody has posted any story ideas so far. And we really should make it a quality thread, don't you think ? I mean, it does need a good story-line.
Like : the nightguards get approached by the leaders of the settlements of ME to rescue some one who's kidnapped, or to find a stolen treasure, or to infiltrate in enemy territories and get information...
Just some thoughts...

BTW : you can find more about my character in the charactor archives in this forum

some good ideas there <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>
I think we should just get started and see where it leads <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>
Maybe, start in our headquarters on a stormy night, when a soldier comes in bedraggled from the storm and informs us of the kings request to see us. It's been a long time since our services have been needed, we hope its nothing too bad.
Upon meeting with the king he tells us that somehow the princess has been captured by ??? or if thats too corny, maybe the power stone of the ??? and he wants us to go and rescue her/it, without a full frontal attack, cause he refuses to meet the kidnappers/thieves demands...
Maybe, i don't know <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>
or perhaps, we had been disbanded, and the king finds a couple of us and tells them the story then the rp can be them trying to find the rest of us to unite again for one last ride together!!
Let me know what ya think <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

Tyg xxx

Yup, that is great ! We'll sneak in ! <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0><img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0><img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>
Do you have an idea for a thread-title ?

Maybe we can set it up like this :
The nightguards were once the secret army of Middle-earths good nations (they were started after the war of the rings ?). The lurked in the dark to gather information, they did quick and unstriking actions for the safety of the nations. But they had been trapped by some cunning characters. It looked like they deceived the good nations and they were disbanded and banished into being outlaws.
The King (which one ?) searches a few of them to help him getting back a kidnapped person of stolen treasure (???), or they hear what happened and try to get to the King themselves to offer their assistance ?? And they have to find the other former nightguard-members to convince them in assisting them on the new mission.

ideas for titles :
ME's secret army marches out again
The resurrection of ME's secret society

what do you think ?

If I start the RP, I'll start by telling some background information about the nightguards. Telling how they had fallen into a trap that caused their banishment.

Sounds great, i think it should be a thing of power, a princess just sounds to corny to me, if we were disbanded i think it gives more substance to the RP, cause people can post what their characters are up to while the others search for them, it can also explain why mine has gone bad <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>
It could be a King that still believed in our innocence and tried to keep us together, but failed agaist the majority vote, and now noone else realises the potential danger of this thing being in the hands of the enemy, he turns to us

This is sounding very musketeerish <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif"border=0>

Tyg xxx

Okay, I'll start the real RP-thread then. It looks like we have enough to start from. We'll see how it goes from there.
Character Info & Background
Ok here goes....
Name: Tyg, also known as The Locksmith
Species:A Shapeshifter - Feline Species (can turn into any feline only) As a Human, she is beautiful, but doesn't know it
Hair:she has long hair, which she can change the colour of, but its usually blond. She wears it back in a long plait.
Eyes: Her eyes she can also change the colour of but are naturally ice blue, which shows in feline form.
Height:She is tall, just on 6ft
Outfit;She wears leather pants and bodice and favours the colour black to wear.
Age: 258, joined Nightguards at 14 the youngest ever
Personality: She is quietly spoken and rarely does so, which gives her an intimidating aura. She has the aloofness of cats.
Skills: She can pick any lock, and can open any door, usually from the inside. She is an excellent swordsmen, and chooses the simitar, two thin bladed ones (samarai swords) strapped across her back, diagonally across each other, in a special harness. She wears several daggers hidden upon her. She is also extrememly quick and has cat vision and hearing even in human form. They are the only family she has ever known. When they were disbanded she felt betrayed and severed all ties with them and turned to a life of crime. Using her skills for ill, she is consumed with hate and anger towards herself and so drowns herself in alcohol or anything else that will relieve her from her senses, even for a short time. She is lost. She has gone wild, like a cat cornered <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>
Means of Travel: Herself usually as a panther she can travel long distances, if she needs to travel with others she will use a horse.
Forodren Gil: she wears hers as a ring disguised as a large dragons head, the jewel sits inside it, the only part visible of the jewel is through the eyes of the dragon head

Thats it for now, will add more if i think of anything <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>

Character info and background
Name: Kaya de Danán, aka Eagle-eye (Thôrhen for the ones who prefer the elven tongue);
Race: Elf;
Gender: Female;
Age: 2136 years old;
Height: rather small for an elf, but still bigger then a woman of the human race;
Weight: can I have some privacy in here, please?... Thanx <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif"border=0>;
Hair color: dark brown, almost black, long (reaches her waist)all in fine braids or coils;
Eye color: bright, haunting green;
Marital status: single;
Occupation: former member of the Nightguards, since they were disbanded I try to be an anonimous traveller in ME.
Aah, yeah, well even in Middle-earth you need bucks to get around. So stealing it became, I'm afraid <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif"border=0>;
Outfit: long grey cloak, black/green outfit with black trousers and ditto boots. But since I got to change my identity a lot, so does my outfit. I prefere black, grey and green colors though;
Means of travel: a grey horse named Arhísië;
Skills: tracking, climbing, hunting, horseback riding, archery, swordfighting (well, I wouldn't call swordfighting one of my skills. I never really got the hang of swordfighting, I wear my sword more to look more dangerous), languages, and I can hurt you pretty bad with my jabs and side kicks too <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0>;
Personality: tries to be choosy with her words but it doens't alway work out that way, head strong, independent, sometimes terrible sence of humor, sometimes very silent, other times she can't stop talking;
left-handed;
Appearance:
I have a little scar under my lip, almost invisible. I got that while another NightGuard and me were having a fight (but it was a part of a distraction). I got hit on my mouth accidently and one of my teeth cut through.
The only real feature I have are my eyes. Besides being sparkling as all elfish-eyes are, they have a rare and striking green color. It looks like they see right through you, and if you first look into them, it gives you the shivers. They have been called beautiful sometimes, but when you are a fugitive you prefer to be unmarked, so I wouldn't call them a blessing.

Short info:
There was a time when I was a valued member of ME secret army : the NightGuards. I've been called loyal, warm-hearted, undaunted and a real gogetter. But also unorthodox, reckless, hard and head strong. My time as a NightGuard has changed my attitude though, as it made me more keen witted and less restless. I met a lot of people there I dare to call true friends.
I have been part of them since the very first draft (now about 250 years ago, year 1 of the 4th Era).

When we were trapped and disbanded, my whole world fell apart. I left with my loyal horse Archísië (I call all my horses like that, so it's not the same horse as the one I have now), left my family and friends without any explanation or persuasion to believe in my innocence, and never returned.

Since then, I live everywhere and nowhere: I roam around because I can't find a place I can call home, always have to be careful no one recognises me. I'm suspicious with everything and everyone since the disbandment, and disillusioned. As I was one of the convicted and death-sentenced NightGuards who escaped, I am is still wanted, so I has to be really careful when I travel around ME.
I was furious when the Kings chose me as one of the convicted, and I still am. I found their lack of loyalty towards people who have gaven so many years of their lives to serve the cause very ungrateful.

I have been tempted to go to the dark side many times since then, but always found a way to keep on the right track. But I know many of my former colleagues did cross that line.

I secretly hope I can return to my family one day and to Valinor. But therefor my fellows and me will need rehabilitation first. After years of searching for myself and inner peace, I now made it her primary goal to find out who trapped us and to put justice to it all.

Full bio:

I am an elf.

My complexion is pale and bright. Like an unwritten page of the more expensive parchment. Not the yellow to brown parchment, but the light sort. Like the mother-of-pearl shell on the beach that covers the lightest color of honey you can find. Not white as the snow on the mountain Caradhras. Nor white as the color of a dead human. Or a living human, for the sun has no effect on my skin anyway.

My hair appears sometimes black as black velvet, sometimes dark brown as ebony. And it is long, waist length. Long is the way the elves usually wear their hair. I cut it shorter, once, for reasons that were part of survival. But it grew back fast, as everything in my life sooner or later recovers. I mostly wear it in braids or coils.

My eyes are green and piercing. Not as green as the grass or the leaves from the trees, not the green of the moss or the green you sometimes find in gem stones. My eyes radiate a color that yet found no equal.
It is the green that haunts you in your dreams for you will never forget my eyes again once you looked into them. It is the green that makes your spine shiver, makes you look away for you think my eyes can read your mind and see the plot you are preparing.
Nothing of all that is true. I am not a sorceress, nor can I read your mind because of any magic trick I know, since magic in the true sense of the word is unknown to me.
If you have the feeling I can read your mind, it is because I am an attentive listener, someone who pays attention to the little details around her, someone who can read between the lines.

My sight is sharp, extremely sharp -like all my senses are- even though a sharp sight is part of my elven heritage, like are my pointed ears.

My posture is tall although I am rather small for an elf, but still I am taller than the average woman of the human race. My build is slender but strong. My moves are gracious.

I was born on a hot summery day in the insignificant year 1130 of the third Era, in Rivendel, and although I probably will live a lot longer than the 2137 years I am now, I will always keep looking like I'm a human in her twenties.

I am immortal, another part of my elven heritage. Although it is more accurate to say my life span is by nature the same as that of the world. I am bound to the world, and cannot leave it, for I am an elf and elves are bound to live on until the world's end. Either as Fëa (spirit) in Hroa (body) like I do now, or as Fëa alone in the Halls of Mandos later on.

I am the middle.

Both of my parents are elves. My father is a descendant of the Laquendi elves, the green elves of Ossiriand. My mother is in lineage of the Noldor, the deep elves, those with knowledge.

I have an older brother who was 719 when I saw the light of birth, and he loved playing the bossy big brother. That was good for I learned that way I had to fight for what I wanted from a very young age

The years of my childhood, I tried to be as brave as my brother, to whom I looked up tremendously. He taught me to use my fists and every other part of my body to defend myself if that ever should be necessary. He tried me to use a sword too, but he gave up very soon for he said I had no talent for it. Or maybe he just gave up easily for he had little patience when things didn't work out immediately like he wanted. But I managed to stay alive with the little skill I had until I started using that other weapon, later on.
I tried to be as adventurous as my father, who was most of the time away from home, for he was a warrior. But at that age I was not allowed to go any further than the borders of Rivendel, the elfish refuge were we lived during my childhood, so my own adventures staid limited.
I tried to be as perfect as my mother, who loved me unconditionally but tried to mold me into something I didn't wanted to be: a gracious elf lady and a teacher, like she was. Not the dreamer and lovable rough like I really was. She never succeeded.

With the birth of my sister -I was 159 at that time so no longer a child but still I hadn't figured out what it was I wanted to do with my life- I was no longer the youngest of the family. And somehow that was a relief for me.
My sister turned out to be the nicest sister one could ever want. She had gifted hands who could turn anything unattractive into something worth looking at, so she became a jeweler. For some strange reason, she looked up to me. She laughed with the silly things I did while my parents told me it was time to find the path I had to wander in life. They were right, I was 205 years old already. So I started wandering.

I am a wanderer.

Not exactly what my parents had in mind when they told me that but hey, now at least I had a goal in life.
To where, I never knew in advance. For how long, I had no clue. In all those years I walked a multiple of my age in miles.

While on the road, I earned some money serving drinks in pubs, taking care of the horses of guests in Inns and giving a helping hand wherever I could. I worked as a help in the library of Minas Tirith where I found the time to read a lot about the ancient history, I helped a cabinet-maker...

It was during one of my seldom stays at home my sister gave me a present: a necklace with a pendant in the shape of a heart. Blood red the heart was, for it was hewed out of the purest red gem stone my sister could get her hands on.
'I gave it a name' she said. 'The Heart of the House. For that is what you are to me. May it bring you fortune, and may you never forget you do have a home, whether in Middle-earth, Valinor, or some place else you might want to stay eventually' Did I mention already my sister is a very nice elf?

It was in my 279th life-year I held a bow in my hands for the first time with the purpose of using it. Nothing was the same again after that.
It all started when I was on the first part of a long journey, first to the west across the Bree-land where the hobbits had settled since a few hundred of years now, but still before the foundation of the Shire.
My first destination was Lindon, the land where father was born and thereby also part of my roots laid. I started helping out a bow maker to earn my daily food and roof over my head for the time I would stay in that area.
There, I learned everything about the heart and soul of a bow, and how to turn the simplest piece of wood into the -according to me- greatest weapon of all time.
In my spare time I worked on my own bow, using all I had learned during my apprentice time with that cabinet-maker to decorate the bow with elfish carvings saying 'To take Life, To protect Life'.
Still, I had not released one arrow in my life, because I had made this one with the purpose of giving it to my brother when I would get back home.
It was when I continued my journey a few months later -it was now the year 1409 of the 3rd Era- that I traveled in the region known as the northern of the Kingdoms of the Dúnedain, when the Witch-King of Angmar invaded there.
It was then I fired my first arrow, and although my contribution could not turn the tide of the invasion, it meant some greater change for me personal than anything ever had done before.

After that I went home again, and I fell reborn.
My mother -like always happy to see me again- was always very curious (I think that's one of the few things I inherited from her, my own curiosity) that to hear what I had been up to. 'Nothing special' I said 'I fought at the side of the Dúnedain'
I swear, if you thought elves couldn't get any paler, you should have seen my mother back then.

I didn't want to become another anonymous archer, nor the second, nor the middle.
I wanted to be the best.
So I left Rivendel and went to Mirkwood for I had heard there lived the best trainers of all.
I practiced my aim. I nearly practiced it day and night to become the perfectionist (hmmm, another of mom's qualities?) archer I am to this very day. It gave me a kick when I hit the impossible mark; it gave me a reason to push my limits even further after that. I still push my limits.
My fellow-apprentices soon nicknamed me Eagle eye, a name that followed me from that day on. A name I always found a bit silly, but one never chooses its own nickname. That would be like pointing one to your abilities instead of giving them the chance to discover them themselves. So I became Eagle eye for I do have the sight of an eagle, and I do have a deadly aim.
Those who go into war quickly noticed my abilities and so I became the one thing I promised never to become.

I am a warrior.

I may look fragile, but I see it as my advantage if that is what you think of me. The more fragile you think I am, the harder the hit will be.
I may look soft, but do not underestimate the power of the will. And my will is strong. Strong by birth and the blood in my veins, strengthened by the events in my long life.
I am not heartless, but I can be hard. I am not evil, but I know anger.
I know indulgence, but I also know stubbornness.
I never liked killing another being, but I learned that sometimes killing was just a matter of survival.

And I wanted to survive.

I am a she-elf.

I know what love is. I have loved with all my heart and soul, with every inch of my being.
I have desired to have one other body close to mine, each and every night.
I have loved and I know what it means to loose that love.

My first true love I met when I reached the age of 1341. What can I say? I am choosy and never wanted to give my heart away if I wasn't sure about it.

Aravir was his name. He had a wonderful heart, eyes that portrayed light and hope, and the mortality of a human. For that was what he was: human. A descendant of the Northern Dúnedain, a Ranger.
He shared many of the passions I had. The traveling and the woodcraft were some of them, for that was part of his existence as a ranger.
He taught me how to hunt, how to track, how to climb steep mountains. I taught him how to become a better archer.
He was my lover, my best friend and my anchor. I loved him so much that I thought it sure had to be forbidden, to feel such deep love.
I would have given up my immortality for him. I would have done it without regret, for regret was something I hardly ever had, as I stood for everything I did or didn't do.
But fate decided differently. Fate brought us to the Misty Mountains in the dark year 2480.

He died in my arms, killed by orcs' arrows, when orcs and trolls wanted to infest the Misty Mountains and cut off their passes.
I kept his ring, a simple silver ring. I wear it on my left thumb. That way I always see it when I tighten my bow to shoot. That way he lives on even now he's dead.

After this, I thought nothing could happen that would have any effect on my heart and soul again, as it fell like winter had come in my heart and was there to never go away again.
It was then I swore never to give in to loving again, that for I would not ever be able to survive another broken heart.
I thought it would be a waste of time to ever try to love again, for the love I could feel then could be no more than a pale copy of what I had felt for my -now dead- love.

I was wrong.

I am a thinker.

I met Yayulda the Wise on one of my many journeys through Middle-Earth in the year 2482. He taught me about spiritual thinking and the power of words when used in the right place and at the right time.

I am not wise, nor was that ever my goal in life. I just like to clear my mind, let my thoughts run free, think about everything that happens around me, step out of my covering and look at myself from another point of view to learn more about myself and what it is I should do next.
I am choosier with my words since I know him. I talk less, but I say more. Although even in that I am not perfect, for I sometimes give in to strong emotions too easily and say whatever comes to me without giving my words some thought before letting them roll over my lips.

I owe him my life. I would not have survived this long if it hadn't been for him. I would never have survived the loss of my love, or the disbandement later on.

I am a warrior.

I was there during the Battle of Five Armies -the great battle before the gates of Erebor- where I fought along the side of men and dwarves. The battle was ferocious and I considered leaving the life of a warrior behind me after that.
It did make a bond of friendship with the dwarves though. They insisted on making some present for me, so I eventually chose for a bracelet. They made me the most beautiful Mithril bracelet, unbendable and unbreakable, that had the form of a flying eagle and that covered a big part of my left fore arm.

Then, the unexpected happened. First, it was merely a whisper in the dark. Then I saw it with my own eyes: Mordor was awake again.
The ringwraiths had been spotted. It was said they were after the One Ring. The thought still makes my spine shiver, for I knew all about the legend that now turned out to be truth.
I knew it was my duty to fire my arrows again, and so I did. I was there during the Battle of the Pelennor Fields, where I saw the Witch-King again. And I was there during the Battle in front of Minas Morgul.
Luckily, Evil could be defeated.

The war of the Ring changed my vision on many things, especially when I heard it was the most unlikely creature that was responsible for the destruction of the Ring: a Hobbit.

Another movement, the departure of the elves from Middle-Earth, caught my attention now the war of the Ring was behind us. I almost left to Valinor. Almost.

I am a NightGuard.

I am a servant of the secret society of Middle-Earth. I am a NightGuard. I am a Dhû Tirith. I am part of the ones that preserved peace in Middle-earth after the war of the Ring. The unknown ones, the non-existing ones, the not-recognized ones, the never thanked ones.

I was there from the beginning, I was part of the first draft of eleven in the first year of the 4th Era.

I think that was my destiny, the reason I came to this world. I knew it from the minute I took the oath and received my Forodren Gîl, which I soon had embedded as the eye in my bracelet. The eye and the eagle really became my trademark after that.

Since the society was secret, I became a wanderer again for the outer world. They had no idea...

All the things I learned in life came to use: tracking, hunting, climbing, riding, aiming,...
I became a trainer -sometimes- for I liked the fieldwork more.
I became a sniper. You named my target, I wouldn't rest before the target didn't exist anymore. It was like pushing my limits again.
Even when I was off duty, having a drink in a pub, my eyes and ears were always looking and listening for a glimpse or a whisper that might be important.

I gave my heart-shaped stone away, the one my sister gave to me. I gave it to a little girl who lost her father after a painful mistake made by one of us. It could never replace her loss, but I did feel guilty for what happened although I could not have prevented it. Giving something that had no value at all to me would be equal to giving nothing, so I gave away one of the few things I was attached to.

Although I only spent a minority of my life as a NightGuard, this is what I breathe and it will always be a great part of me. It is in my heart and blood and it is there to stay. I am a NightGuard for life.

You may find me telling it was the biggest mistake I ever made, joining the NighGuards, but that is for it is still hard for me to deal with what happened in the year 202 of the 4th Era, and led to our disbandment.
But never forget I never regretted one minute I was part of them.

I am an outlaw.

It was their plan to hang me for things I didn't do, for things non-of the NightGuards did as far as I know. Twelve were chosen to stand trial and face death. We escaped. Since then we all lived like hunted wildlife.

I will not trust you. I will not close my eyes or turn my back to you.
I will not shake your hand. For you could be a bounty. And the handshake could be a sign for a hidden killer to take my life.

I do not fear what is unknown to me. Rather, I respect it.

I will not walk into my death without a fight. You will have to be at your best if you want to make money on my sorry head.

*** being currently written in the RP 'The reunion of the NightGuards - ME's secret army' ***

I am an elf.

I will not live forever, I think. Although that is not mine to decide.
But I will live long enough for you to really get to know me. If that is what you would like...

Nai tiruvantel ar varyuvantel i Valar tielyanna nu vilya...
May the Valar protect you on your path under the sky...

(BTW You scare me, Tyg... <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>)

OKies well Tyg told me to check this out and Im quite intrested in it. Normally I play Matrim in the RP's but this time Im gonna play something different.

Character info and background
Name: Vinyacam Do'Eldron
Race: Drow Elf
Gender: Male
Age: 936 years old
Height: 5'9"
Weight: 190 lbs
Hair color: White, running to the middle of my back
Eye color: Lavender
Marital status: single
Occupation: Former member of the NightGuards, since they were disbanded he has taken to all kinds of work; bouncer, highwayman and assassian.
Outfit: Faded green ranger outfit with a drab green-gray cloak.
Means of travel: My own trusty feet.
Skills: Two weaponed fighting, Sword fighting, Unarmed Combat, Tracking, Lockpicking, Assassianation.
Personality: He has no real reguard for the law, he doesnt choose side anymore and hate politicians and monarchs. He is silent type having no real use for words.
Bio: I was born in the underdark to a large family. Posessing no real magical ability I was raised to fight. When my family challenged and attacked another family of higher standing we were defeated. As spoils the winning family gets to choose 5 of the family before the rest are destroyed. I was chosen. I rejected my new family though and escaped from the underdark. Coming to the surface I was met with open hostility until I became a member of the Nightgurads. They took me in and looked beyond my legacy. After they were disbanded, I turned my rage to evil uses. One by one my victums fell as I became one of the most feared assassians in ME. My downfall was the job I took to kill a certain King. As I was about to make the death strike he awoke and recognized me. He swore he would reunite the Nightguards once more. I broke down. I couldnt kill him so I fled. Word of my failure flew and no one would hire me again. I then turned to the roads outside Gondor where I took to looting and killing of nobles as a highwayman. I also served as a bouncer in some of the more rowdy taverns for money on the side. I sit and await either my death or the reunion of the Nightguards.

Forodren Gil:Vin wears his inside his pendant. The face opens to reveal the stone. The only way it can be seen from the outside by the small hole in the back of the pendant.

Take a look at the picture in my sig for a better idea of my appearance. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0> Mat

Hey people, I like the sound of this! Thanks for the invite, Kaya.

Right, I was wondering if I could be the bad guy? I am a woman, but I'd like to play a man for a change<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

Here's my idea for a character:

Name: Krugon, son of Kaldor
Race: Half - Elf
Gender: Male
Age: 2323 years old
Height: 6 ft 5
Weight: x
Hair color: Black
Eye color: Very dark brown
Marital status: single
Occupation: former mage of the NightGuards, now general evil-doer<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0>
Outfit: Black leather suit with black velvet cloak; small beard, half long straight, smooth hair (is this tacky or what<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0>)
Weapon: Magical Quarterstaff with on its top Forodren Gîl imbedded in mithril (it's a small bony hand that holds the gem).
Means of travel: Black horse named Mornië
Skills: magic, arcane knowledge, archery, swordfighting, daggers, languages, telepathy, souplesse of body and mind (<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>) - I know it's a long list, but I'm gonna have to take you all on, eh?
Familiar: Black Hawk named Lómë.
Personality: Nasty (of course), very sarcastic, little patience ( especially with the less gifted), craving to rule (at least a big part of) ME, very charismatic.
Bio: Krugon used to be a valuable member of the NightGuards Guild. He was never wholly goodhearted, which he did a good job hiding from the other Guild members. He spent his time with the NightGuards for his own benefit; he learnt some interesting things there, one of them being the existence of the treasure of power(?do we know what that is yet?). He decided to leave the Guild long before it was disbanded, under the pretence of wanting to go off and live the life of a spiritual man, seeking inner harmony. This of course he did not do; instead he honed his magic to dark perfection and meanwhile hunted for the treasure, which he, of course, found and ran off with.

How does that sound for a bad guy?

What do you guys think about this for a treasure with power :

The bridle that was worn by the horse of the Mouth of Sauron. When you put it on another horse, the horse becomes evil. (and goes searching for his master who will become the next lieutenant of a new evil force) (maybe also attracts other horses who become evil too).
The horses feel there is something wrong with it, and so far nobody has been able to put it on a horse. It became forgotten and ended up in an attic.
But it is unknown to men, elves, ... what effect the bridle has, it just looks like a beautiful and valuable bridle (with silver and golden decorations on it) and attracks the ones who are greedy.

You all start to scare me with your biographs... <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>
I thank the heavens, Mal, that you aren't bad too... So Mal, you were a former nightguard too ?

I don't expect finding enough time to finish the RP-intro any time this week. I already have quite a lot, but not all. I hope you don't mind waiting until after the weekend to get started. That still gives you some time to work on your bio - if needed - and for others to join.

great subject! I have to change it? why? I mean I'm cool with it.
I have to be a member , huh?
well let's say I have been a member for long but at home nobody knows about it. Because of my different assignments here in Lothlorien I haven't been on patrol with the nightguards for a long time. And now that there is a new mission I really want to go cause I feel attracted to it.. Is that okay?

So- here goes my stab at a character-
Character info and background
Name: Cryst Lorien Sed-Ciridan, aka Crys or C.S.
Race: Human (as far as she knows)
Gender: Female
Age: not really sure- somewhere in the middle of her years
Height: taller than most human women (not quite elf-height)
Weight: (never ask a lady this question<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-shocked.gif"border=0>)
Hair color: light brown to dark blonde usually worn short
Eye color: sea gray-green with gold
Marital status: married
Occupation: former member of the NightGuards, now a wandering Bard.
Outfit: depends on what she's doing! Usually unobtrusive travel clothes in dark blues and grays, pants, cloak and boots when traveling- but can dress to the nines when necessary.
She wears little or no jewelry, save a long chain and locket which has an exquisite gold knotwork over a blue gem (the Forodren Gîl)and inside contains her wedding band.
Means of travel: by foot, thumbing a ride
Skills: Mistress of disguises,(ergo the short hair for wigs), decoding things, use of words, quick learner, can read people very well, not a fighter but can be a mean hand with her walking staff when needed. Has a good working knowlege of herbal medicines and basic healing methods.
Personality: wanderlust, drawn to the sea, quiet, strong (as in stubborn), mostly easy going, suffers occasionally from a strong sense of insecurity and avoids conflict. Empathizes with the underdog, has motherly tendancies but can be hard as nails too and seem uncaring in odd moments.
Bio: Crys's true background is hidden from her. Being found washed ashore in Grey Havens she was taken under the guardianship of Ciridan the Shipwright's family. This was when she was about 5, though she has no memories of anything before that, and is not really certain of her age. Ciridan had suspicions that she came from mixed human-elf background because of her abilities. She was raise as part of the natural family with loving parents, and had an excellent education. Married later than most women (because of her studies) to a landsman from Falas, they traveled quite alot through Middle Earth. It was around that time she came in contact with the Night Guards (pure coincidence) and joined their service, without her family's knowlege, due to the secretive nature of her work. Upon having children, she returned to her home and ventured out only locally. When the Night Guards were dishonored, and her involvement was indicated in the whole mess, Crys secretly left (after writing her husband a long letter maintaining her innocence) not wanting her family to be shamed. It broke her heart to leave her children, but she didn't want them to be branded and scarred because of their mother. From that point on she has travelled through M.E., changing her identity, becoming a bard, and taking on various disguises to gather information in hopes to one day clear the name of the Night Guards and return to her family.

Hey Kaya, I like the bridle idea, nice touch <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0> Yet I have one question: Does a horse wearing the bridle go back to the Mouth of Sauron, that being the previous owner of the thing? Or does the bridle give power to the one who has it in his posession? <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif"border=0> Because, you see, if I, being the bad guy, am going to steal/confiscate something that is of no particular use to me, well, there's no point really, is there? So I was kinda hoping for some more use to the bridle, if that's ok with you... Hope I'm not being too demanding here...<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0> Or maybe I understand it all wrong. That's a fair possibility <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-rolleyes.gif"border=0>

Good luck building the story line! I am very curious already...

I have a couple of questions for you people who know everything of ME :
what was the year that Gandalf, Frodo, ... went to Grey Havens ? In my book, it says 1421, but I found another year elsewhere on the internet saying it was the year 3021. And now I'm all confused.

I have a translated book, and I'm wondering what the exact words of Gandalf to Frodo were when they are set to leave with the Ship : it has to be something like 'this is the end of the fellowship of the ring in ME', but I'm not sure this is the exact sentence that was used in the original book. Anyone who has an english copie can help me with this one ?

Thanx !

My thoughts on the years are, 1421 is from the Shire reckoning....<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0> The other, 3021, is from the outside world, the King's reckoning. The King's reckoning is more commonly used, but since the story is about 4 hobbits...

As for Gandalf's quote, sorry, my book is upstairs...<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif"border=0> Being 3:20am for me, it's too late for me to move...<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>
