Rain pelted from the treetops and Laurel impatiently wiped the droplets from her eyes and glanced around for interlopers. Darting through the glade, she crept around the thick trunks and nearly shrieked aloud as a heavy footfall sounded behind her.

"Oh, it's you, Finbar," she said in mingled relief and frustration to the bay horse that figited by her side.

"Of course it's me. Who did you expect? And there's an army nearby, by the way. You won't get through Mirkwood tonight."

To her frustration, Laurel had to admit that he was right. Taking cover under a canopy of dripping leaves, she drew a crumpled, battered map from her pocket and examined it. She could make out about as much at night as she could in full daylight.

"This is useless, Fin. I just don't understand this map. If only I could read it!"

"Stupid 'brella! They're spost to keep you from they rain! They just don't make them like they used to..." Abii, the hobbit scrambles around looking for shelter. It's been days since she left the Shire in search for adventure, as she says, but mostly a place to belong. Abii never did fit in with the Hobbits. She was just too "peculiar", they would often say. Abii was never satisfied with the simple thrill of running away with Farmer Maggot's stolen vegetables, she just had to have more...more fun, more excitement, more mysteries...Something the calm, beautiful Shire could never quench.

A young dark haired man with a jagged white scar running along his jaw, sat on his horse with his head up and his arms out.

Ahh this rain is lovely.

He said to no one at all. He then noticed night was falling and decided it was time to find a place to sleep for the night. The sound of a heavy footfall nearby caught his attention. He decided to go inspect. He dismount Theo, his trusty steed and made his way through the trunks. He nearly walked over them before he noticed the young elf woman and he horse.

Greeting mi lady, I am Matrim Calhoun. Would you care to share a fire with me tonight?

He said to her as he bowed with a flourish of his cape.

Lanuviel had been sitting calmly in the tree, thinking about life in general... then she fell asleep. How she managed to sleep through the most part of a torrential rain shower Elbereth only knows, but when she did wake she was utterly soaked. Leaping from the tree, she landed on her feet and tried to get her dripping copper curls out of her eyes. Looking around, she saw movement in the trees... intrigued, Lanuviel moved towards them silently, not knowing who the speakers were...

He looked up a few minutes later thinking he heard a sound but decided it was just to forest he turned to his book once more.

*It so happened that Sadrien was riding through the forest (somewhat lost, but enjoying herself, when she came upon matrim and his friend. She had started to grab her sword, but figured that it wouldn't be wise so she dismounted her horse and walked towards him, while stroking Tinuviel's nose and neck.* "Hello there stranger, may I sit with you and rest my horse for a while?" *As she spoke a shining smile appeared on her face.*

Who could it be?She was very close now and she hid behind a tree.Ones in a while she looked what they were doing. It seemed that they were resting. She thought it was very odd that she wasn't afraid of them.

(OOC: May I join? <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>)

(OOC: Of course you may, Maldeloth!)

Laurel glanced round the small group that had congreated in amusement, and smiled, glad they were there. Being alone was no fun. She leaned over Matrim's shoulder to see what he was doing.

"The rain's washing away the ink, Mat," she observed. "What are you writing?" The fire spluttered and died, and Laurel prodded at it uselessly for a while before giving up. "We'll have to do without, unless anyone's any good at building fires in the rain. How strange that we should all be wandering Mirkwood at the same time - would anyone care to tell their story?"

"Not at all, Maldeloth," said Laurel, tossing another handful of sodden leaves onto the pathetic fire. "Few of us know each other. Mouse, dear, it is good to see you again, and Matrim, I believe I have been dropped in a pool by you on multiple occasions..?! But you others I do not think I know. I'm glad you're all here, though - a large group in Mirkwood is much safer than being alone!"

Indeed I can... Mirkwood is no stranger to me... here let me help with that...
Lanuviel knelt by the fire, and to everyone's dismay thrust her hands into the heart of it as her pupils turned green... green flames roared from the fire, making even Lanuviel stand back.
Uhhh.... oops... Sorry about that...
Lanuviel put her hands back into the fire, but a rustle behind her, and then a familar voice made her start, jolting her hands and almost seting fire to Mouse's cloak...
"Show-off..."
Lanuviel withdrew her hands with a murmured apology to Mouse, and turned around to face a tall, handsome blond-haired Elf that had snuck up behind them - Glorfindel, Lanuviel's father. He wore clothes in much the same shades as his daughter, and they were the same height, give or take - they looked very similar, apart from hair colour.
Dad! What are you doing here? I thought...
"It finished early... Elrond had 'unfinished business' to attend to..."
How do we always end up on an adventure together.

He then turned to Laurel.

Well its nice to she you again to Lady Laurel. Ahh those pool parties were quite fun.

Grinning he turned to the rest of the group.

It is my pleasure to have met you all. Ill warn you though. It seems whenever Mouse, Lanuviel and I get together, adventure and danger are not far behind.

Lanuviel grinned at Mat, trying desperately to get the vision of Mat surrounded by ladies in bikinis at a pool party out of her mind before she collapsed in hysterics. Swallowing hard, she looked into her father's amused face, but said it nontheless.
Yeah - but this time it's going to be YOU in the tree, Mat!

Huh... Be on your guard, Mat - when the next game of truth or dare comes around - WATCH OUT!
Finally giving up, Lanuviel joined Mat on the floor, laughing so hard she couldn't breathe, let alone speak! Glorfindel looked across to Mouse, and raised an eyebrow - very much like his daughter's habit.
"Are they always like this?!?"

Lanuviel swallowed hard, and sat up. Clapping a hand over Mat's mouth in an attempt to stop him laughing, she took one look at him and started laughing again, as did Mat since she'd removed her hand. Grabbing a canteen from her pack, she took a deep draught, and handed it to Mat, looking away from him so she wouldn't start laughing again.

“I am no stranger to danger, I will join you in Mirkwood, although it wasn’t my plan to do so, some of my friends come from the Mirkwood so they will probably know me around there.” Mouse was not kidding when he said this. Like Matrim pointed out before, Whenever Lanuviel, Matrim and he got together there seemed to be danger around.

Mouse was suddenly wondering something so he asked, turning to Lanuviel and Matrim, “is it us that attract danger or does the danger attract us.”
