Hey all...<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0><img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

I was thinking we should decide on a time during which our story takes place. I suggest the time period right after the Return of the King, as that is most likely the most familiar to all of us.<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

I must admitt, I am not one of those fortunate ones who have read all of Tolkien's work. I was in my own little world of the Hobbit (well, it has actually been many a year since I've completely finished it, as I always want to start reading the Lord of the Rings right after they escape the wargs...<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif"border=0>) and the triolgy for a loooooooooong time. Now, inbetween many other books (and my yearly visit through the trilogy<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif"border=0>) I am reading the Sil and the first book of history. But I've not read enough to feel terribly comfy writing from it. However, if one of ya'll feel that another time or age would be better and you can help me with any info I'll need for it, that would be just fine with me.<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0><img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

I am enjoying this immensely and I'm hoping you are all too. It has been great just getting to see a bit of your characters unfolding through all of your writings.<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>
Quite a fun read I had when I returned home!!!<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0><img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0><img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>

The time after the RoK is perfect. It is a Tokienian period that is familiar and rich with imaginative possibility. I have not joined in this wonderful thread, as yet,.. but, the writing is EXCELLENT! A joy to read. Very good character development, and you all have contributed to atmosphere and place. I definately feel as if I can "see" the people and the locale!

Great Work! I hope I may be able to provide something to this exciting venture. I used to spend most of my time in the Prancing Pony forum. But, the demands of role-playing kinda took over and it grew hard for me to continue here. I hope I can find enough within me to "take up the quest", once again. This adventure, is one well worth being a part of. As with the most excellent examples of role playing threads in this forum, (and as one who has considerable experience with the "history" of this forum) I can assure you, that the talent of the writers gathering "In a small town outside of Minas Tirith..." , is comparable with the best TORC has to offer.

It would be a privilige to paratake in this world you are creating!

Bravo to all of you! I hope I may find it within me to join you...

Hello, this looks like great fun! I am just getting my bearings here, and would never wish to intrude, but, if you let me read the role playing thread, I would love to join too? I am male and willing to learn from you all. I do have "some" experience in role playing though.

So this is what an OOC thread is like! Interesting.

Putting on plays as we travel? Not sure if everyone else wishes to, but I, for one, am up for that. Also, I expect we could become quite a band of troubleshooters as we learn each other's strengths (and find new ones) and weaknesses. (Hopefully some bad guys will stop by to give us trouble. We can always make our own, but still...)

I'm anything but experienced in this business of role-playing, but oh how I love doing it.
Trace, come right in. Nice to meet you.
Right - here you go...

Mercenaries are hired killers - assassins that are hired by anyoe and everyone to accomplish thefts or murders, with no-one but the employee, the asdsassin and the victim the wiser for the deed.

There tend to be pockets, or small bands of them in most large towns or cities, though it is increasingly difficult to tell who they are due to their secrecy - if they don't tell you, you don't know... unless you have been acquainted with them before.

In her case, Ráca was spotted on the streets of Gondor by a group of Mercenaries, who recognised her skill for thieving - and initiated her into their guild. The tattoo on her left shoulder blade is a symbol of her career - a silver-bladed, curved blade, black-handled dagger, on he backdrop of a crescent moon.

Her eyes are not a common feature of Mercenaries - (I hope she won't mind *sheepish grin*) they are the Mark of Praycien - the goddess of Darkness. Ráca's sister Raavi also has eyes like that, although they are cat-like slits, hence her name - Raavi means 'Lion', as Ráca means 'Wolf'.

Anything else?<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>

im not sure why it took me so long to join our ooc thread. i think the time after the return of the king is awesome. i could introduce you all to the King! my character was trained by Aragorn to be a Ranger. wouldnt that be something for Miss Bolger's theatrical presentations! and Terry, thank you so much for the encouragement, and please feel free to jump in any time. I would count it an honor to rp with someone who has reached the Ringbearer level. *bows humbly*

I almost forgot, does anyone wanna play Aragorn? you dont see alot of canon characters from LOTR around TORC... so someone could play him or we could make him an npc... that is if you all wanna include him at all... IMHO, it would be cool ^_^

I would prefer to keep it all orginal charactors, i don't really see what aragron, the new king would be doing traveling with a hired killer, actors, and a drunk. Also with original charactors yo have a lot more freedom to write whatever you like, and don't have to be tied to a storyline. but if someone really wants to play aragorn we will need to come up with a good reason he's here.

yeah Vincent is right. He is now king so he wont be hanging on the streets. He's not a ranger anymore.

But let's decide that I as an elf did not go on the sea. I stayed here. wow maybe I am the only elf left LOL<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>.. no od course not.. just kiddin'.

hey Ráca sounds good. You really thought this character out didn't you?
ooww and can you come back to the hidden power within-RP???
we need Lanuviel. Because we are departing soon. so please?
I don't want that RP to fall on the ground. It is beginning to get more interesting everyone had longer posts and stuff.

Oh guys, you might like to know that I have a special ability.I don't want to call it a power cause almost everyone has it. But Maldeloth is also called the lady of the wind because her wind tells when danger is lurking or when everything is fine. She just tells eveything. Maldeloth can smell taste hear and feel her wind. She's one with it.
This ability is official from a Valinor god.Although she is not a Maia she just got it as a gift. I didn't figure out how yet but I do know that no one in her family has this ability. Let's say it's still a miracle and mystery for her, where this ability came from. So she can feel everything. Also persons and living creatures. The wind just brings it with her and takes the news to Maldeloth. so sometimes she can get a bit clumsy because of her insecurity. She is not very young but she has this ability for quite some time now and is totally used to it. But she doesn't know where she got it from and that scares her a bit. She doesn't really know who she is and that is why she is often not sure about herself.

Well I told you all a bit about the character. I would like to hear more about yours!<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

Vincent is a character that i've played in regular pen and paper RPG's for years now, he's a sailor, and was part of a corair, or pirate crew, he joined wlling at first, but later that changed and he was kept against his will, he did win his freedom, but the pirate captain (Corean) took it personal and put a price on his head, and he has had a few attempts on his life, which is one of the reasons he's not too thrilled with raca being in the party.
As to his current melancholy i refer you to "the prancing pony inn" it happened shortly before this thread and explains why he is drinking himself into oblivion.

i didnt say he had to be part of our company... I just said we could visit him... I guess that would require him to be an npc. no, no... i didnt mean for him to leave the palace or anything... but even if he did, we still dont have to follow any particular storyline cause this is all after the rok anyway.

Hey, as long as we are all explaining our caracter I might as well do mine. Ariem is an only child. Her mother died during child birth and her father was killed when she was eight. Mainly she was a thief and a begger untill, she was eleven that is when she began to work in the inn. She has had silver hair all her life but she doesn't know why or how. Her eyes change color with her moods and the things she is thinking about.

Green for happness,
Blue for calm,
Purple when she is using magic,
Red when mad,
Orange when suspicious or unsure,
Brown when broard or nuteral,
White when suprised or scared,
Yellow for....OK so I don't know what yellow is for but I'll come up with it soon,
Black for dark or evil or somthing like that.

With a couple varety of each. I know that you most likey didn't care but I'm board and It's two in the morning so I just felt like telling you all that. So there. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif"border=0>

I personaly don't know all that much about Mercenaries but I'm on a couple rp's with Raca and her sister, Raavi so I got a general idea. They're like assasins, but cooler. Maybe we should start someting about Mercenaries. Then again, maybe not.

The whole eye color changing thing I made up and has nothing to do with mercenaries.(At least I don't think so) I got it because my eyes really do change colors with my moods. Not to purple or red. But when I'm mad they look gray, when I'm happy they look more green, And when I'm relaxed and calm they are pure blue. (this my friends and family have told me. Just in case you were wondering if I always am looking in a mirror to see my emotions change <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0> BTW I don't)

You guys are way cool and I love rping with you all. I'm like, so totaly happy to be here and with you.(Sort of)....(sort of with you I mean. not sort of happy.) And I hope that we can do this for a long time. *sinff* I'm just so happy. *breakes down in joyful tears* Pull yourself together. Hey BTW and FNAR(For No Apparent Reason) my real name is Marie and how I got my characters name is if you put the "M" on the end of Marie it makes Ariem. I'm really tired and extreamly hyper so I'm going to go for tonight. Farwell and keep rpin'.

*Sheds a tear for Raca's absence.*

-Ariem

Well I am glad to RP with you all too! It was a real original introduction Ariem! I liked it.<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>

and Gwen. I understand I am sure Tuile will let us meet them. And we don't have to find someone to play aragorn..It's not really neccesary(? sorry don't know how you write that<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>),so we can also take a double role that someone takes the part of Aragorn too. Well we don't have too but that is what we usely do in other RP's..

Could everyone please post their stats here.

Here's mine:
Age: late fifties.
Hieght: 5'9" (but he stoops so it's really more like 5'5"<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0>.
Weight: thin, almost emaciated, but he has a wiry strength.
Complexion: dark tan, leathery, so wrinkled that you can't really see his features.
Eyes: large and white, he is blind.
Hair: long, white and tangled.
Cloths: a number of grey and brown robes, stacked on top of eachother so the holes don't over lap.
Accessories: a twisted wooden staff, a coin purse and a leather headband to keep his hair out of his eyes. He never carries weapons.

Am I the only one who uses this thread?

Hello out there?

Anyhow, I was thinking about a proper name for this thing. Since it seem to revolve around a storyteller and a playwrite/producer, shouldn't it have a name connected to the theater? Maybe "Mouse Trap" or "The Most Lamentable Tragady of Piramus and Thisby" (just kidding) or something along those lines.

I am loving this roleplay. I thought your entrance was splendid, Muccamuk.
Let's see, vital statistics:
Name: Aurabella Bolger; the nickname "Abby" comes from her initials
Age: Twenty-nine
Race: Hobbit
Hair: Black, and straight (which is all wrong for a hobbit, and is a factor in her strangeness)
Eyes: Dark blue
Wardrobe: black trousers, cloak and hat; loose white blouse; black walking cane
Weapon: a cross-bow, which she carries for show (a valiant warrior she is not)
Profession: aspiring theatre impresaria -- composer, director, and producer of dramatic spectacles; to that end, she hopes to collect the stories of her companions and also make use of her own experiences as she travels.
Aurabella is adopted, and her cloudy parentage (along with her straight hair) makes her the subject of gossip in the Shire. This has led to her feeling that she's an outsider, and she's ambitious to turn that very outsider-ness into an advantage, a superiority. She can seem confident to the point of arrogance, but this is largely pretense, a cover-up for the drive she feels to prove herself to the world.
I was thinking that maybe we could all go to the City of the White Swan. It seems like every other thread is set in Harad, but hardly any go there.

While we are there we could find whom ever wipe out my village and deal with them. I have no idea who that might be but I'm sure creative people such as yourselves will come up wih something interesing. Maybe it's a group of Black Numanroians left over from the war. But why would the destroy a nomad camp? Oh well, something will come up.

We go in undercover as a group of players so as no to arise suspision. I wold love to do Abby's theater idea! That would be so much fun!

Could you possibly find room for a Dwarf in your group? There are few enough of us about, and we are not known to make poor travling companions. What say you?

I've only recently joined TORC, but I've writen a few stories elsewhere. I've just finished reading your thread, and I must say I'm impressed by its quality. It would be plaesure to RP with you all
