Here I am Tav! Do you think it would be best if I met up with all of you at Minas Tirith? Dol Amorth is further west, and I'm coming from the east. Or maybe I've been in Dol Amroth for a while? That could have its advantages, I'd probably feel a good bit more secure in my Westron for one thing...Any sugestions on how we should work it?

At minas tirith would probably be better...

this is the plot as we know it, aka what Eruanne wrote... The Palantir is on the island of Himling, which is north of the Gulf of Lhun and west of Ered Luin. It actually *is* on Tolkien's maps, but I
can't recall anyone ever living there. If I'm wrong on that I'll have to scrap the idea of using a known island, but I don't think it will change
much.

Himling is about the same size as the Midgewater marsh and (barring anything contradicting what I say) is rather rocky and windswept.
There are enough sheltered places to grow enough food to support one or two people, but any intensive colonization is out of the question.
The island is home to numerous small animals and birds (mostly birds), as well as a seal colony that takes up residence on the northern
beach during breeding season. It's not especially interesting, and the currents around it are dangerous enough that no one really bothers
with it.

During the wars that tore Gondor apart the Tower Hills were attacked. Rather then see the Palantir fall into the hands of the enemy the
current Steward of the stone sent it away in the care of his daughter, the Lady Elaine [name?]. She fled to the Grey Havens, where she
boarded a smallish ship bound for Dol Amroth. Unfortunately, a storm sprang up once they were out of the Gulf of Lhun and blew them
north. To make a rather long story short the ship was wrecked on Himling Island, and only Elaine and the Palantir survived.

Elaine made a home for herself in one of the island's many caves. She lived there for many years, keeping records of her life on reed
paper. The records became more rambling, incoherent, and obscure as she got older and slowly lost her sanity. The records that date
from the time closest to her death are nearly incomprehensible. Doubtless there is much wisdom buried in those strange accounts of
prophetic dreams, discussions with birds, herb gardens and the habits of sea creatures, but it would take someone with a great deal of
patience to sort it out.

Strangely enough the things inside the cave remain as they were at the time of Elaine's death, many hundreds of years ago. The Palantir
still lies on her table, covered by a roughly woven cloth, her papers lie beside it, and there is still an empty bowl on the ground. Nothing has
decayed.

Okay, that's the background. What's the plot?

What kinds of characters do you need?

Did you know that Himling was an Elvish city in the first age? Are there any remains of it left?

Hmmm...Sorry. My copy of the Sil has dissapered (as in my mother swears we have one but can find it no where). However, the ruins make sense. Hee. So yeah. Ruins can defiently be added to concept of island. Sound good to you, Tav?

My, it's late.

HI Guys well i guess I'll slot in nicely with you Tav (shouldn't be too hard <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif"border=0>) so I'll go find the actual thing and post there. You're right Muccamukk, what is the actual plot? And where is the story going?

Okay, the plot depends so much on what other people post that it isn't exactly set in stone. I'm going to set off for Minas Tirith and the library, with probably a fairly large party, and so after we get to Minas Tirith I will go alone to the Library to try to figure out what that thing was(it was the palantir of elostirion). Then we'll go to the White Towers...

to answer more questions...Rhudriel, we probably need knight class since I will be mainly going on the 'mobility' concept, and ruins are almost a staple for finding lost artifacts.

Hi Tav - seeing as you are in charge - I kind of opened up the space for a sub-plot for me concerning my father who has been missing for ages. who i could find along the way... what do you think?

Looking forward to roleplaying with you
Love from me to you on the wings of a dove flying at sunset towards the evening star.

Happy now?!

Yes. Yes. We need to form an expiditionary force to go to Minas Tirith because of wandering monsters etc.

Are those all of the questions i need to answer?

swallow was just too easy of a jibe milady... anyway, I prefer the vorpal bunny... I'm sure we could strap some wings to it....

:x: :x: :x: :x: :x:

I think I'll watch it for a bit and join in on the way (if you don't mind). It's a great concept!

Just a couple of questions.

What kind of characters do you want?
What time frame is it set in?
If the ruins have been ther for a while, why hasn't someone robbed them already?
Is there a spell the protects them?
Is the spell now gone because all magic has past into the West?

We want knights mostly since I'm rather mobility based, either that or my trusty squire Patsy<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>

timeframe is the resurgence of Angmar since it's a fun time,
and the last three I shall answer with only a ....he he he...(sorry I'm way too DMish... here's a hint though... what did the witch king like doing to ruins? *hint alarm goes off*[O]Tav runs away whimpering)

don't worry about that, it's somethng from entmoot....

kisses :x: :x: :x: :x:

I'd like to join! I sort of know what's going on... I read the first two posts when it was just two posts... um... I'm going to go read it again and edit this, and sort of tell you what I'm thinking of doing and have you review it, see if it's okay, and then I'll join. How does that sound?
Entmoot? Is that the Entmoot I'm thinking of?

Hey, I found it! Rather easy when I thought about it. I just did a username search on Tavarila in the Prancing Pony. I'm brilliant when I actually think. Heading over to read the thread now. Oh, Tav? Not having read the Silm, does Dale exist yet or do I need a new background or char?

I'm terribly sorry to break this to you, Larindyl, but you aren't the most important thing in Tavarila's life. I saw him this morning, and he has been forsaking your company in favor of nonstop Warcraft III playing. I know it hurts...

Go ahead and start, Eruanne. Just make sure the storylines converge at some point. Ashlei's story has begun, so that she is in position to meet up with the group on the road. I've already written my VERY LONG next post and am just waiting for an opportune time to post it.

*Lights a fire under everyone currently in Dol Amroth and urges them to get a move on.*
