Hey all. Welcome and well met. All of you, you have no idea.

Its been quite a while since I've been here. First of all, this is the aside. But I wanted you to give me a quick rundown of some of this new stuff. What are the votes and stuff for? And rating posts?

Anyway, this thread is sortof like a treasure hunt. We are following clues to the treasure(witchwood). Siluus's people cultivate the inner power of the soul. They can read peoples expressions well.

Well, give me a rundown of your characters and some ideas that you have.

Great, an OOC thread! <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

Well, first off, I'm glad you made this thread, and the actual RP! I can tell that I'm going to enjoy it already... I just kind of jumped in, but it's nice to hear roughly where things are going to be headed. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>

As is probably very evident by the lovely (<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-rolleyes.gif"border=0>) stats they've given us at the side, I'm very new, but I think I've got a grasp for the renown and votes thing (or as much as one could have)...

Renown (the title/word replacing what was originally "Prestige"<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0> is a number calculated using a formula (unknown to most people except for the mods, I'm assuming...) factoring in how long you've been a member of the board, how many posts you have, and the 'style' of your posts; It sounds a little vague to me, but apparently it is decided basically on the average length of most of your posts. All of these things are subbed into the formula to get your renown, and I'm assuming the higher renown you have, the more votes you get. Votes. You'll notice when you enter a thread, beside each reply there is a small drop bar where you have the option of 'voting' (rating) the post; the number of votes that you have is the number of times you can rate a post each day.

*sighs heavily*

I think you'll find excsesive amounts of threads on this subject in the Welcome forum; that should clear things up if it's still a little hazy. (What I've written up there was all I could discern from them so I won't bother posting the links [*grins sheepishly* Of course I'm not lazy!] but they're right there on the first page of Welcome if you want them.)

(Unfortunately, being clear and concise in my explanations is not a skill I have learned yet... Sorry! <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-rolleyes.gif"border=0> <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0>)

But, down to business <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0> My character. She's a serving woman in the pub; from first impressions it is probably evident that she isn't just a serving girl, and there was more to her life at one point, but her past is still shrouded in mystery from most people she knows, and even moreso the people she doesn't know. She is a good listener opposed to leader, and is quite the thinker at times, but sometimes overthinks things and gets too caught up in the thinking opposed to the actions...

A question regarding the actual setting though; is this going to be a completely separate fantasy world, or will it be loosely following Tolkien-esque setting/characters/races?? That will end up finalizing a couple of the simple facts about my character <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

Well, I'm glad to have met you, and I look forward to talking to everybody who's posted! (Just as a side note; I've really been enjoying everyone's posts so far!)

Oh my! Eldfess! Welcome back! I could hardly believe it when I saw the RPG this OOc goes to! May I acompany you on yet annother adventure? You seem to have a lot of people in the inn with you, but if it's alright, I'll wait and join you a little later. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

Eranduil! Welcome! Yes!!!!

All of you, welcome.

N_M_R, thank you for clearing that up. One more question. What does rating the posts mean to the threads? That's all that I'm wondering now.

As to your question: My character is not based directly from Middle Earth. However, I was planning on following basic ME universe rules. It doesn't really matter, truly, as we are not following a map, but clues. We will have vague directions to look for.

If we stick to Tolkienesque, I'd say we were in the far East(only because so little is known about that area). Otherwise, it doesn't matter.

Well, it feels great to be back.

Hey all, just letting you know that this thread is here. I'd like to get to know your characters before we actually leave the inn. That way I know how to move us better and how to twist the plot.

So far this thing looks pretty good, but soon we are going to have some action. Please bear with.

<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>
Thank you

This is an official bump.<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>

Well I see you have another RP going huh<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0><img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0> So if you don't mind I'll give my background again, though I'm going to stick with the same elf from the first RP. If that's ok with you, I'm kind of found of her<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0> Although if she isn't the right character or you don't need me let me know and I'll change it or whatever needs to be done. Sound fair?<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0> After all that's what an OOC thread is for.

Seanera is an elf of Rivendell, the land formally known as Imladris and has lived both there and spent some time in Lorien since her Grandfather Celeborn was still living there at the time of her birth. Her mother was said to have been a ranger from Rohan but was actually the granddaughter of Prince Imrahil and heir to Dol Amroth. Being of stunning beauty she traveled all over ME seeking adventers she couldn't find in the stiffling palace her father had been told she had claimed her own life and in this lie he took his. Her mother's name was Katherinen and as she was wondering the vallys outside of Imladris she was ambushed by the remaining orcs and she fled into the havens of Rivendell where Lord Elladan and his brother Elrohir found her and took her back to their home. Elrohir and Elladan both fell in love with her and fearing that they would destroy each other in their jelousy Elrohir departed to Lorien to spend the remaining time with his Grandfather.

Elladan and Katherinen lived happily for several years before she heard of the news that her father had taken his life in vain, wishing to seek the traitor that had told him this lie she departed Rivendell not knowing at the time she was with child. Once in Dol Amroth she confronted the evil man that had been her fathers confidant and ordered his banishment and her cornation as the new ruler of her fathers kingdom. She had her child the night before the coronation but was murdered by the same man that betrayed her father, for unknown reasons the child was unharmed.

A messenger was sent back to Imladris with the baby girl and given to her father with the news of his wives death. Lord Elladan was never the same though he raised his daughter as best he could with love and light, teaching her the ways of healing, so she could be as wonderous a healer as her grandfather Lord Elrond and she was even gifted with foresight though not as well gifted as her Great Grandmother Lady Galadriel.

When she was old enough to rule Elladan felt the sadness pull on him to deeply and one night he allowed his utter grief to take his soul, his brother and Grandfather sailed that same month.

Apperence: Tall and slim with big lovely grey eyes and soft long dark brown hair. Usually wears dresses that show her form but does not care all too much with her clothing. Although she usually wears pale blues and purples.

Hello, i just kinda hopped in without checking in here first...sorry. My Character is in the embryonic stage so little things arent worked out...again sorry. But here goes...

Name: Adramir(Add-rah-meer)
Race: Man
Gender: Female
City: Grew up in Gondor, now wanders ME looking for her father.
Appearance: Brown hair and eyes, Avg height and weight. Dresses in mens clothing, wears high boots and dark brown cloak. Hair is is past shoulder length and strait, usually unkempt and tangeled.
Manner: Usually kind and laid back, but can be cold and stubborn. Very protective of friends, mysterious.. doesn't like to reveal much about herself unless she feels very comfortable with them. Is very smart but her cleverness is somestimes lost in the heat of the moment.
Weapons: Broad sword, taught to her by her father, and Bow.
Skills: Good tracker and mild healer. Exelent fighter, as she was taught by her father, a highly skilled Ranger.
Family: Father, Faramith, was a Ranger of whom she learned sword play and tracking. When she was about 12 her father was called to do a favor for a fellow ranger, he never returned. Her mother, Celimir, was very gentle and began to teach Adramir the art of healing but was never able to finish. While Adramir and her mother were gathering herbs in the forest,a party of passing orcs slay her mother while Adramir, lain in hiding, watched.
Animals: Strong chesnut horse of Rohan, giver to her by her fathers friend.

Alright i think thats it...
bye ~Adramir~

Short posts aren't necessarily a bad thing; they do move things along, and I think that was getting to be a bit necessary... <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0> <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>

(As Shakespeare said, "Brevity is the soul of wit." Unfortunately, being concise is not a skill I'm too good at yet; you'll just have to bear with my long-ish dragged out posts sometimes... I'm still learning!! <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0> I'll just keep typing, and it won't seem like much, even when reading through it, but.... <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-rolleyes.gif"border=0> I personally don't mind detail, but it's refreshing and nice to get some to-the-point posts in <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>)

Well, I'm off to post in the thread....
Hi all, its Kyria here, I've just returned after an absence, and I'm kind of lost half way through the RP. Can someone possibly give me a quick rundown of whats happened since I've been gone?
Thanks, shall spend some time reading and rereading the updates. I'll bring in a new character, Tanith, when I see an opening. Assume for now that Kyria has taken off. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>

Great to see you again, Kyria/Tanith <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0> I hope you had a great time wherever it was that you were vacationing at... <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>

What's happened since, you ask?? Hm....

Well, Siluus has got a whole crowd of followers now, one being a young Elvish (?) girl named Onyx who entered the pub wounded and faint; she passed out, and Siluus, being the guy he is, quickly helped her to a room so she could be put on a bed. Currently that room is where most of the things are taking place; Onyx has come 'round, and is the one speaking telepathically.

While all of this happened, a slight scuffle ensued outside; one of the gang exited the pub and had someone make an attempt at her life... she warned someone and two others managed to fend off this hostile person/being...

Now, it seems, all of us are back in this room.

(Sorry for neglecting to use their names; I'm sure that would've been useful for you... <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-rolleyes.gif"border=0> I'm bad with names though, and unfortunately, I don't have time to look them up! <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif"border=0> Sorry!)

*sighs* It seems that we don't really have any direction right now, so we're kind of at a stand still while we hang around the room... it seems that Eldfess has gone AWOL (<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0>), as have a couple of the other characters...

Ah well.
I just hope that we can get this RP seriously going again! <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>

---

Another note; I will be going away on holiday as of... uh, very shortly from this time (<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-shocked.gif"border=0>) until September 1st, so if things do start happening, I'd appreciate it if everybody could just kind of toss Ara's name around every once and a while, just to keep her alive <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0> (She can do some healing stuff; it's just she'll have to be written in... <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>)

Thanks a lot!
Happy Posting!

I'd really like to get this RP up and running again... I think it was off to a promising start - the only reason we 'died out' so effectively was because noone took the initiative to really get us moving out of the inn. I'm sure, with the help of those who are able (no_mere_ranger, lady of Ithilien, and most definately Eldfess if possible) we can make this one work.
Anyone willing to try?

Tanith.

I never actualy joined this thread, although I said I would like to here. I was waiting for the group to leave the inn before I showed up, because there seemed to be a lot of people there already. I am still interested in this thread, and if it was saved, I would still like to join it. It might be difficult without Eldfess, though.

Hi!
I'm aliiiiiiive!

Tanith- thanks for replying- I think this RP had a lot of potential, too; I'd be willing to try to get it going again!

I know Eldfess isn't around-
Does anybody else have any ideas of where we would like to sort of direct this RP after we get out of the inn? Should we be leaving in decision to start our quest, or leaving to try to track somebody down on the way, or leaving because one of the group is being sought out to be hunted or something- we need a reason or a goal to be working towards! Any ideas?? <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

Anyways, as you can probably tell, I'm just a little over-eager to get this back going; I think it'll be great if we can pull this off! <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>
