Alright people, there have to be some lefties around here. Statistically about 10% of the population is left-handed so there should be around 2,948 left-handed people on TORC! Where are you all?!?

A place for lefties you say???? Not shoved over to one side of the college class room along the left side where there are actually desks that have left-sides writing surfaces in the science classrooms???? Not searching in vain for a chair with a left desk in the liberal arts buildings?? Not weilding a pair of sissors which are strangely made???? Not learning to type with just your right hand on a cash register??????
Ahhhhhhh we lefties are soooooooooo adaptable..
And I do believe there is a Left Handed Brewery nearby me...I shall have to discover more about it..

Great! A guild for sinistrals! Such a good idea...and that whole cash register thing...I know EXACTLY what you mean!!
Paul McCartney is another leftie....I tried to learn guitar right-handed but it just wasn't happening. And its too expensive to get a left-handed guitar...

Welcome Tuile and Draugluin!
Tuile, I have that same desk problem. I have to get to class 15 minutes early to ensure that I'll get a left-handed desk in the lecture hall. And then there is always someone in the lefty desk in front of me who is right-handed and just writting in their lap! I want to ask them why on earth they are using that seat while there are hundreds (literally, its a big room) of right-handed desks around them.
In my other classes, there just plain aren't any seats for lefties!
Some day when I'm rich (yeah right!) I'm going to start a scholarship for left-handed people! We are a minority that faces discrimination daily!
Draugluin, that's a shame about the guitar. When I started playing flute I asked if there was one for left-handed people and got laughed at. If they have left-handed golf clubs, why not instruments! That is instruments that are the same price as ordinary ones.
I'll have to start a list of our complaints That could be interesting.

It's strange, cos me and my brother are the only lefties in my family, even though both my parents are righties! That makes us, like, 2% of the population!!!

My oldest son and my mother are left-handed too. Also my father in law. And my closest friend. Hi folks! I'm a lefty, so I guess this is the place to be. Since I'm the only one in the family who's left handed, it will be nice to talk to people who come across the same problems as I do.
As for stories and leftie problems:
- I never got the hang of righthanded guitar playing. The problem sorted out itself though. One day I returned to my appartment and there had been a burglary. Stolen object: my guitar.  I still suspect my neighbours, who finally got fed up with my din.
- And since I like to draw, I always have to be careful I don't spoil my work by rubbing over it with my hand.
- I want a leftie sauce ladle btw.

Welcome Kaya! Ah, yes! The wonderful smeared pages of a lefties' notes. And then the side of your hand gets all black. The joys of being left-handed! Oh, and I saved a left-handed sauce ladle for you. It was very difficult to resist launching this one at Celede too.
New idea! A list of reasons lefties are far superior to righties.

Eärwen, thanks for accepting me. I am not sure how I feel about all the rightie influence in here. I guess that as long as they promise to try and convert to leftiness we can tolerate them. I suppose we should set a baseline criteria for those righties that want to participate , like only eating with their left hand or something.

Hey..how about left footed? Can I join? I always go up stairs leading with my left foot. And at school when I did high jumping I used to run in from the left to lead with my left leg when everyone else ran in from the right!! I kid you not. In the interests of not persecuting the left footed minority, can I join too?

Hi, Earwen, fellow SIC mate and user of the correct hand,
please hear my confession:
It is two days since I used a pair of scissors. I say this because, although being a lefty, by some quirk of fate I can only use scissors with my right hand. Do any other lefties have this debilitating problem?
I also learned the hard way about guitars. When I was younger I used to prefer nylon strings and had to change the strings around. I remember hours spent filing the bridge with a nail file to get the big e string to fit into the little groove! Too much hassle, and not one left handed guitar bridge shop in town.
We all know about eggflips and our great difficulties with the perfect omlette. I also had to get used to using the mouse with my right hand. This does not do any great things for my double-click abilities which are awkward and intermittent.
The trouble is that living in a right-handed world, I am now, unfortunately, used to using the mouse in the right hand. I think we should take out a compensation claim against Microsoft, IBM, Intel, Apple and all those others responsible.
We are owed millions in inconvenience rebates, for sure.
I will be counting the left handed Orcs in the battle of Helms Deep when TTT comes out. By your reckoning, Earwen, if there is a realistic comparison to our world, at least 10% of them should be left handed. Should we put PJ to the test?????

Hello everyone. I'm lefthanded, too.
But, I must confess, I've allowed the world to make me almost ambidextrous. I use a mouse right handed. I use scissors right handed. I hammer a nail either handed (based on which arm is more tired ) I even learned to shoot right handed.... until a friend bought me a left-handed deer rifle! (I didn't know there was such a thing!)
My mother suspects that she was left-handed at birth, but that her parents forced her to switch over!
I have three kids and only one is left-handed, and she is very, very left handed. She can't do much at all with her right hand. Refuses to try.
