Shifting of Fate... Adventure of Time... OOC

Pull out your pack and head on down to the Prancing Pony for some great Role Playing (try to stay in character)!

Postby Istariquendi » Wed Jan 08, 2003 8:31 pm

Welcome to the present, a time that seems irrelevant now. The legendary heroes have perished and become ash under the feet of our generation. Most of the elves have drifted to the West, and those who remain fade upon the world. Save one elf, who holds his strength for a purpose he does not understand. For some reason Fate keeps him alive, to stand up for Arda in a battle that will test the limits of all races... One that can reset time itself upon a course of self-destruction.

Who will join me in this quest? Surely a single elf cannot stand as the champion of all races?

(BTW- When I mean present, I mean late into the 4th Age... I'll go into more detail once people join.)

And of course, what storyline would be complete without the presence of darkness?

I am very interested in hearing more of the details.

I would be honoured to join this quest if you will have me along. It sounds most interesting and I await your decision as well as the details that you have said will follow.

*******
Telta-Bard Exemplar
Official Vana Honourary Adoptee<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>

I would also love to join this story, if you don't mind having a bit of an amateur RPer along. I look forward to hearing more about what you have in mind.

Also, I will not be able to do any heavy posting for the next two weeks due to the approach of final exams. I'll do what I can, and I'll make it my best, but there won't be a lot of it until exams are over.

Of course you may all join. Sorry I haven't posted here, been busy. So ok, basically the story takes place at about the end of the Fourth Age. Middle-earth is practically dominated by men, since the dwarves live within their caves and pay no heed to the affairs of the surface. Most of the Elves have sailed to the West and there are few who remain. Yet despite this, Middle-earth spawns a new golden age. Gondor is reknewed in splendor and there is even a large city in the Realms of Arnor. Peace is here to stay... Or so they think.

Unwittingly, Istariquendi, a remaining Elf, stumbles upon a strange ceremony in which an even stranger being was summoned within Mirkwood. Before he could figure out about this ritual though, he is forced out of the area by an orc raid. Outside the boughs of Mirkwood, Istari falls upon the creature once more, who speaks of destiny and some hidden power. Before Istari could ask about it, the creature turns toward a tree and somehow Istari aids him in summoning a deadly creature of the Fourth Dimension. Now Istari must gather what allies he can and chase this monster through all the Ages of Middle-earth, before the heavenly Fourth Age is turned into a chaoctic hell that will spell the end to all the Children of Iluvatar.

Sounds good! My character bio is going through some work, but I'll have it up in here soon (I'm going to be writing as an elf, and will create a separate username for my character).

I'll work on my first post as well; depending on what time I can find, I might jump in this weekend, or maybe not for a bit longer. I'll see how things go...

I'm looking forward to this!

Ok, you may both join if you wish. The more, the merrier. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>

As for the storyline, Istari is forced to follow a monster who travels through time. The monster goes back in search of a way to change the future that would make his conquest of present Middle-earth much easier. Istari has to find out what he wishes to do and stop it before it destroys Arda in its fury.

So we'll actually be going back in time?

Here's my character's bio:

Name: Saire Melime
Race: Elf
Gender: Female
Age: Born in Mirkwood during 2nd age; still lives there
Appearance: Dark brown eyes and long, light-brown hair; slim, but not extremely tall
Personality/History: She has a pleasant personality, though not what one would call ‘happy.’ Being so old, she is both wise and sorrowful. She’s quiet and gentle and easy to befriend, although slower to give her love to others.
She is an Elf-maiden skilled with a bow & arrow who will not hesitate to fight if needed, but prefers to find a peaceful solution.
She has spent most of her life in Mirkwood and tends to be distrusting of other races, but is willing to get along.
Has never been married or in love; the rest of her family left Mirkwood for the Undying Lands long ago. Having no ties or obligations left to keep her in Middle Earth, Saire plans to head for the Havens as well.
I tried to post here last night but got forum errors. I would love to join. I've read your first post and I'm sure I'm not the first to say you are a phenominal writer...

Heres my Bio and history.

NAME: Oricon Haloitënen
HEIGHT:5"2'

WEAPONRY: Sword elvish longbow throwing daggers.

HAIR AND EYES: long golden brown hair and deep brown eyes.

PERSONALITY: Fun and loving but wicked in battle. Has many friends and allies but enimies are only of Mordor. Is quick to have an attitude with ones she dislikes or is unsure about. Her sarcasm has gotten her into trouble many times before. Growing up with three brothers she developed a fun loving attitude but when messed with she is like a cobra, ready to strike. The best way to describe her would be barbed wire and roses.

PAST:
Daughter to Lothinaya of the Lady of the wood and Orlathion, General Orlathion Haloitenen of Mirkwood. Far in the past before Oricon's eldest brother was born unto her parents her father was journying with some troops, being in charge he would wander about the camps, checking on the soldiers conditions and mending them when the need arose. One day he was out riding, scouting for the woods of Lothlorien, perhaps they would provide his weary troops with shelter and food.

Once inside the blessed realm he looked about in awe, his race having never seen the light of Telperion and Laurelin, and all about him the eyes of the natives held it in respects. But his weary eyes fell on one so beautiful that even the light of the Silmarills could not compare, she was sitting on a large tree root, of a towering mallorn. Her flaxen hair and blue eyes showing her pure Noldorien roots. He strode up to her, the Light of Valinor glowing more bright in her eyes than others.

In the first coming of the Noldor they taught the Moriquendi their tongue and he spoke to her almost fluently in Quenya, though Sindarin was his native tongue. " Such beauty shows within your face, pray tell your name!" he said reaching out and taking her extended hand in awe and kissing it gently. "Lothinaya Calaquendi, Beauty of the elves of the light." After that Orlathion strode right to Lord Celeborn and Lady Galadriel, asking for Lothinaya's hand in marriage. They accepted but Orlathion had to leave to fight in the Last Alliance.

And so Lothinaya waited, until his return. The Last Alliance had been won and Orlathion and his now fewer troops took Lothinaya back to the secretive forest of Mirkwood in the north. There they were given a proper marraige and there were born to her her first son. Berluil she called him. Then came two others sons unto the Haloitenen name and then came Oricon. Oricon mirrored her mother in her beauty, though her hair was golden brown and her eyes like that of a newborn fawns. But though she grew up predominantly in Mirkwood with a woodelf father the light of the Trees of Valinor shone in her eyes, they burned so brightly as they were only equaled by that other mother and the Lord and Lady of Lothlorien.

Oricon and her mother both loved music, everytime they would visit her mothers homeland there would be much merrymaking and joyful music. Oricon marveled at their fair voices, the echos of their sorrowful tones resounding in the forest. Often times the songs were sung for mere background noise, and Oricon would love to go watch them, beautiful flaxen haired elves standing erect and tall their eyes bittersweet and their voices ethereal. The only instrument she could recall was something that sounded a bit like a citar, bringing the sounds of strings to the unearthly choir.

She would run to her mother, begging her to teach her to sing and play such as the lovely elves of Lorien did. So her mother agreed and gave her a harp, custom made for her of the finest beech in Mirkwood. An elven woman with long flowing locks of hair and a long dress stood facing the strings. And so she practiced and sang, soon her mother would join her, playing a flute and adding a celtic air to the music of the high elves. Oricon soon became an established harpest and singer of Mirkwood, partaking in playing music at all kinds of events. But never save a few times was she lucky enough to witness a lament. The sound of the sorrowful song itself were enough to bring tears to anyones eyes, wether elf or not. She would listen in awe as they sang praises to the one who died, having either been slain in battle or died of sorrow the song was often filled with high credits and loving farewells.

Often times they traveled to Lorien to visit her mothers folk , therefore Oricon and her brothers became bilingual in Quenya and Sindarin, but Oricon, finding love and warmth in the light of the trees of Valinor, adopted Quenya as her first language. She visited there often, Galadriel and Thrandiul often sending with her kindly messages between the races of elves. Sometimes concerning deeper issues than mere chat. Then Oricon was accepted on Thranduil's council and her visits to her mothers homeland became less frequent. Now she journeyed beyond the protection of the elves, straying often through Dunland and over mountains even to the reachs of far away lands.

She returns home every few weeks, or in between endeavours.

SKILLS: Weaponry healing, but only with the power of herbs and potions, very in tune with nature and more so with animals.

MISC: Has several horses, but her main one is a large stallion with a shiny grey color named Fayciel, offspring of Thranduils mighty steeds.

Well it would seem that a little background on our characters is needed so here is mine.

Name: Laraelia/Lara

Age: Lost track over time

Race: Half Human, Half Elf

Gender: Female

Appearance: 5’11” tall with thick rich auburn hair reaching just past her waist, green eyes and slightly pointed ears the one sign that shows her elvish heritage

Laraelia or Lara as she calls herself was taught by her father the ways of the sword and some less than honest ways of survival (stealing, picking pockets) and was an apt pupil who learned quickly.
Having been on her own for most of her life (her Elven mother left when she was very young and her father passed away) she has learned to be wary of others and does not trust easily and being neither Elven nor Human she has learned what it is to be shunned by others of either race.
Through her years of being on her own Lara became skilled with the sword and perfected her other talent for stealing. She is quiet, cautious and lives by her wits alone.
Somewhere underneath the seemingly indifference she projects beats the heart of a fighter. She only needs the right circumstances to release her true feelings.

How's that?

*******
Telta-Bard Exemplar
Official Vana Honourary Adoptee<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>
E.O.<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0>
Name: Lady Laurealas

Race: Elf (female)

Appearance: Fair of face and figure, she stands at a winsome 6' with hair of spun gold and eyes the colour of polished amber.

Occupation: Supervised the kitchens of Mirkwood

Weapons:
A crossbow. A cunning little pair of short curved daggers. A cache of throwing knives. And of course, a set of cooking utensils

Cloths/Armor:
The length of her dark hair is clasped at the back of her neck with a cunningly wrought clasp of elvish origin. Wears the forest-green and gold tunic with a belt of gold and mithril clasped at her waist. Sweet-smelling pouches of herbs, scents and salts hang at her belt. A pair of pale gold pants and a high-collared white shirt complete her outfit. Around her shoulders, she wears a hooded cloak of green-grey - which closely matches the forest and the wood - a gift from her cousins in Lorien. At her hands and feet are boots of tooled leather, soft and smooth to the touch.

Personality: Despite her beauty, she has remained hidden away in the depths of the kitchen. Quiet, gentle and observant, she has frequently remained in the shadows, content to sit aside with her hands clasped in resignation. However those intimate with her have remarked on her exuberance and her wry sense of humour.

History:

Born the daughter of Edain and Silune, Laurealas is the result of the joining of Lorien and Mirkwood. With her father's death due to reasons unknown, her mother Silune brought her home to the land of her people, the Wood-Elves of Mirkwood and her brother, King Thranduil. There, Laurealas prospered as she learnt the arts of the elves, the magic of healing and to the surprise of her parents, she showed a gift for making the simplest of meals a feast of the senses. Enchanted by her talent, she was given the task of supervising the kitchens of Mirkwood.

The Battle of Mirkwood during the War of the Rings have left a number of her kin dead and the forests burnt and ravaged. During the war, her mother perished under the claw and spear of the Orcs. The task of rebuilding the dwellings of the elves fell to the ones who remained.

However, Laurealas was never the same. In her heart, she had started feeling alienated from the people she called her kin, her heart detached from the ones she called family. When the time came for her kin to depart for the west, she chose to stay behind instead. Since then, she has remained with a small band of elves hiding in leafy shades of Southern Mirkwood, beneath what used to be Dol Guldur.

I believe that I have allowed my finger to hover above the reply button one time too many, and seeing the speed quite a few of the RPs that I am currently in, I have assured myself that I have more than enough time for one more RP. If you are unsure of my character, let's write her off as an assassin who got bored with seeing herself as the cause of so much bloodshed...

*Starts screaming*

Anyway, this is still Tobias_Red-tail, who decided to use her character's name. *sighs*

Hello Istari!

I would like to join this RP, it sounds REALLY exciting!!!

This is my bio (sorry, it's REALLY long <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>)

At the time Elena’s history is written, it is about a hundred years after the passing of King Elessar.

Real Name - Lady Elena Tinúviel
Known As - Elena
Race: Eldar (Has both Telerin and Sindarin blood)
Gender: Hmm, let me think… most definitely… Female! <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>
Age: Very old. Born during the Second Age - about 80 years after the Three Rings of the Elves were made.
Height: 6’ 2”
Weight: Hey! That’s rude! Never, ever ask a woman her weight! She might just kill you! <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>

Hair: Black/Silver – the black inherited from her father and the silver from her mother. Not curly and not straight, somewhere in between. Reaching her waist, and usually worn loose, or tied back in intricate braids, Elven fashion, a cap of silver lace netted with small gems on her head for formal occasions.

Eyes: Blue-grey. They appear to be pools of endless depth, that look right into your heart and see your innermost thoughts, filled with a calm serenity and enchantingly lovely. They are more bluish (like a clear spring sky) when she is in a thoughtful or serious mood; and grey as a stormy seas when her anger is aroused. Her eyes hold a certain sadness, which is more perceptible when she remembers her past or her family. But usually her eyes are full of laughter and merriment, keen as lances in starlight, yet profound, holding the light of knowledge and wisdom, wells of deep memory.

Physical Appearance: She resembles her great-grandmother in appearance, although her hair and her eyes are darker than hers. Tall and slender, with a small waist, shapely hips and long legs that contribute much to her easy gracefulness and elegant bearing (Well, she has a really nice figure!!! <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0>). She is seemingly fragile and has an air of vulnerability that makes her seem innocent and young, almost defenceless. Yet, this appearance is highly deceptive, as it hides her strength, her power, and almost feline reflexes and agility. There is something arresting and indefinable about her that captures the imagination, holds the attention, and makes all those who see her catch their breath.

Marital Status: Lady to, and very much in love with, Orion HR, a fellow Bard

Occupation: Wandering Bard; Healer; Seer; Dreamweaver; Warrior (when she needs to be)

Personality: Elena is proud, strong, and self-willed, yet she has a noble and generous spirit. She can seem cold and aloof from others, as she is rather shy and tends to be quiet and get on with things by herself. But in fact, she loves company and is good to be with, making an excellent friend. From her earliest years, she had a marvellous gift of insight into the minds of others, but judged them with mercy and understanding, for she was always willing to believe in the inherent goodness of people. She is open, honest and sincere, and expects others to be the same, which means that others can sometimes take advantage of her sweet and trusting nature; in some ways she can be very naïve. Elena can be very outspoken, especially about things she believes in, but her bluntness is without malice and rarely causes offence. She is full of cheerfulness, life, energy and enthusiasm (She has lots in common with the Hobbits! <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>), but can show inconsistency and impulsive anger; she often acts before she thinks. She is a restless person, never staying in one place for long, and loves to travel and learn new things. Intelligent, lively and independent, she can beguile anyone with her charm. Vivacious and friendly to everyone, there is nothing she likes more than to sit and have a long conversation and find out all about the other person. Her sympathetic temperament allows others to open up to her and confide in her, and she exudes a gentle, caring nature. Creative and artistic, she is deep thinking and wise, and a healer by nature. She avoids aggressive behaviour, and prefers sensible compromises and solutions to destructive confrontations, due to her inability to keep cool in a confrontation. Elena has a contemplative, impressionable, temperamental and moody nature, endowed with a fertile imagination, and a mind that is dreamy, creative, inspired and impulsive.

Outfit: Deep blue cloak and hood, in the colour of a midsummer night sky, set with silver stars about the hem. But, because it is a cloak of Lórien, it can change its colour to suit her surroundings, allowing her to move without being seen.
When travelling, she usually wears a form-fitting, pale blue gypsy top, with a thin band of silver-white embroidery around the neckline, the hem and on the edges of the sleeves, black riding breeches and black boots; or a white dress (reminiscent of Galadriel’s dress in the movie), divided for riding, and belted in silver, and white riding boots.
For formal occasions, Elena usually wears dresses in different hues of blue, green, or purple with touches of grey, white, or gold. Her favourite is a pale bluish-greenish dress, embroidered in white and indigo nephredil blossoms around the hem and down the flowing, bell-shaped sleeves. Each blossom centres on a small pearl, which shimmers and sparkles when she moves.

Skills Include: Foretelling; an affinity to water and all its forms (because of her Teleri blood, she thinks); she is a Dreamweaver; horseback riding; archery; healing; music (she plays the flute and the violin, and she has a beautiful voice, although she rarely sings nowadays); sword-fighting; speaking, reading, and writing Elven languages and the Common Speech; and many other skills learnt over the ages, that are well hidden and rarely used.

Weapons and Other Items: Elenáre, The Star of Dawn, an elvish sword akin to Gandalf’s sword Glamdring, given to her by her brother, Galad
A silver bow of Lórien, and a quiver of silver arrows
Daggers hidden at the sides of her boots
A pale blue crystal, Nólemír, shaped in the form of a teardrop and welded to a fine mithril chain of Elvish make, always around her neck - given to her by the Lady Galadriel
Keeper of Silmariën, the Moon Ring of Dreams and Melody
A violin, Lindórië, given to her by her mother, Telperiën, as a parting gift, and a beautiful flute, Celebros.

Means of Travel: A black stallion, named Starlight. He is a descendant of the mearas, and very special, since he is the only one of his kind to have a blue mane and tail, flecked in bits of silver. Highly spirited and independent, he can nevertheless be sweet-tempered and gentle when he is around Elena. Sure-footed and swift as the wind, when Starlight moves, all anyone can see is a swift shimmer under the trees, or a light and shadow flowing through the grass. Fiery, stubborn and still rather wild, he is wary of most other creatures and mistrusts humans, although he does tolerate some humans - like the people of Rohan. There is a great friendship between Elena and Starlight, and they are devoted to each other. Starlight holds a very special place in Elena’s heart, more so because of the past they share.

Family:
Parents:Her father, Círyatan, was a kinsman of Círdan the Shipwright, and her mother, Telperiën, was the younger sister of Lord Celeborn of Lothlórien. They both passed into the Uttermost West with Lady Galadriel and Lord Elrond.

Siblings: Older brother, Galadhon, usually called Galad by all. He was a mighty warrior and a great leader. Yet he was also kind and gentle, wise in lore, and a highly skilled craftsman. It was said that in him the spirit of Fëanor lived on, as it had in Celebrimbor. He left one day to visit his cousin Celebrían and her husband Elrond, in Imladris, but never reached there. The most common theory among the Elves as to what happened to Galad is that he was most probably waylaid by Orcs in the Misty Mountains and killed.
Twin brother, Eärtaron; of all her siblings, he is the one she is closest to, and great friends with. He is like her in both personality and looks, although obviously more male, and Elena loves him dearly. Like her, Eärtaron is a wanderer in his heart, and travelled often around Middle-Earth with Elena before the War of the Ring, and most often to the Grey Havens or to Mirkwood. He is a great friend of Legolas Greenleaf and his brothers, and a favourite of Círdan. He meant to leave Middle-Earth together with Lord Elrond, Lady Galadriel, and his parents, but his love for Middle-Earth proved strong, and he decided against leaving in the end. He now lives in Eryn Lasgalen with his wife, Melian, although he still travels often.
Younger sister, Nieninquë; beautiful, independent and with a secretive temperament, she is in many ways still a child. She married Aldarion, youngest son of King Thranduil of Mirkwood, sometime before the War of the Ring, They lived in Lothlórien until the passing of Lady Galadriel, and when Lord Celeborn left for Imladris, they also left the Golden Wood, and now live in Ithilien.

Just as a note on the last post. Siren's people have an obsession with speed and the less time it takes to do the something the faster it is done. So Siren's people have come to worship time and time lords. I'm also trying to explain why she suddenly decided to creepily follow poor Istari around.
